About Kathy Jorsch

I live in Southeastern Wisconsin and am a small business owner. I get away every chance I can to make the 4 hour drive to my lovely cabin. It seems to be the place I feel most at home. I know you will too.

Kathy Jorsch purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Kathy Jorsch chose Boulder Junction

My family and I vacationed together 2 weeks every August for 35 years in this same cabin. When it came up for sale, we couldn't bare the thought of not going back so my brother and I bought it! We had other families that felt the same about this place and it's beautiful surroundings so we've been renting to them ever since. Last year (2014) we did a total remodel including all appliances and the addition of a full bath upstairs and loft.

What makes this cabin unique

Watch the deer pace through the property from almost any direction. Walk down the .5 mile blacktop road whenever you have a few extra minutes. Or take your coffee down to the pier around 8:30am, and wait for the bald eagle that loves to cruise by...sometimes landing in a tree and staying for hours.

Boulder River Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this great cabin. There was plenty of space and it was comfortable and clean. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed taking the pontoon on the lake. Close access to beautiful bike trails.

Terrific cottage

  • 5 of 5

I stayed over the Labor Day weekend. I felt like I was staying On Golden Pond and not Boulder Lake. The house was in great conditions, clean and well equipped with whatever you would need and typically have at home. We grilled out 2 nights, used their boats, and went for walks. We even got to see the Northern Lights which I haven't seen for 25 years.

Quiet, comfortable and close to everything

  • 5 of 5

My parents, and my family of 4 stayed at the cabin for a week in late August, 2016. We have been coming to Boulder Junction for years and years and were so pleased with our relaxing stay at the Boulder Retreat. The house is very open concept, has a great kitchen and the bathrooms have been redone recently. My family spent several nights playing games at the large kitchen table and gazing out over the beautiful river/lake.

My mother is an avid biker and she enjoyed being so close to the beautifully groomed trails that span the Vilas County area. It is just a quick cross of the highway and you are on the trails. Our family biked into town several times for ice cream and shopping.

We rented the pontoon boat - and enjoyed taking it out and tooling around the lake. There is abundant wildlife on Boulder lake. We saw several Eagles, Otters, deer and turtles.

If there are downsides to renting this property (and I didn't see them as downsides) it would be that the dock where the boat is isn't the best for swimming- it is very mucky, weedy and shallow. However, we were able to find some very nice beaches in the area so that wasn't too much of a problem for us. We also found that Boulder lake wasn't the best for fishing (at least for my husband and son- perhaps something to consider if you choose to rent the boat). We are lucky enough to be familiar with the area that we know about other spots to catch fish.

The over all feel of the cabin is very home-like, and much nicer than any of their place we have rented. We definitely hope to be back in the future. Thank you Kathy for sharing your lake home with us!

Great vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

I kind of hate to write this review because I am afraid after word gets out that this home won't be available to rent the next time we are able to make it there! It was a perfect vacation spot! The house was clean and had everything needed. The pontoon boat was great and such a convenient rental. They had row boats and canoe for our use which was nice to take explore the narrow end of the lake. You may be a little disappointed if you plan on fishing because the lake doesn't seem to have many fish, that or none of us knew what we were doing! However, you could take the pontoon out and rafts and float around all day. We even rented a paddle board one day and all tested it out. The bike trails were absolutely wonderful, well maintained, nicely wooded and took you from one lake to the next. Nice serene setting where you could do as little or as much as you wanted. Truly a great location and home.

The serene setting of the Boulder Retreat is located in the Golden Triangle of the Great North Woods, 3 miles from the quaint town of Boulder Junction Wisconsin. Wildlife is abundant as are hiking trails, fishing lakes and restaurants. The chalet has a wood burning fireplace as well as a private pier that attracts a beautiful bald eagle most mornings.
