This is a quaint and newly renovated 1920's stone cottage. It sits in the blue ridge mountains, in the heart of Black Mountain, NC. It is located in a quiet neighborhood so you can relax, but also just a short stroll to several wonderful restaurants, pubs, and shopping. Nearby is a lake, hiking trails, the blue ridge parkway, playgrounds and a beautiful golf course. Black Mountain is charming and has so much to offer. Asheville is just a 10 minute drive. The home has a beautiful front porch, as well as a large fenced in back yard, for grilling, a bonfire, game of corn hole, or relaxing in the hammock. There is a large covered area so you can enjoy even if it rains. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the second bedroom has a queen size bed, the living room has a sleeper sofa, there is a cot upon request. The home is equipped with flat screen T.V.'s in both bedrooms and living room, cable, internet, a DVD player in bedroom, and DVR in Living room. The home also has books, games, puzzles, corn hole, dartboard, hammock and sandbox. Stowed away we have a pack n play, stroller and high chair for the little ones. We hope you enjoy the exciting and peaceful living of the Appalachian Mountains while at slow pace cottage!

About Belinda Allison
I am a restaurant manager, but enjoy fixing up older houses, had a blast giving this 1930's bungalow some shine back. My husband and I live in town, so will be close by if anything is needed.
Belinda Allison purchased this Bungalow in 2113
Why Belinda Allison chose Black Mountain
Close to downtown, local hands on owners. Cozy at home feel.

Unable to stay due to hurricane
We were unable to go due to hurricane Florence, as I live close to the NC coast. The owners were very understanding and worked with me up until the last minute when we had to decide to cancel. Even though it wasn’t their policy, since this was a state of emergency, they did refund all of our payments to them (of course, VRBO kept their portion, but that’s better than losing all of our payment). Would love to try staying here again someday!
We loved the location to walk to main street. Well appointed with everything you need.
The house is easy walking to main street. The linens and kitchen were all great. We would rent again. Loved the outdoor space with fire pit and covered area to sit if raining.
Great weekend getaway
Enjoyed this quaint and comfortable cottage. It had everything that we needed and Black Mountain is a beautiful city, so convenient to all the surrounding areas.
The town was very busy with shopping and restaurants and a wonderful environment for families. This was our first visit to Black Mountain so we just stayed in the area and appreciated the experience and relaxed.
Thank you Belinda for sharing this jewel.
Backyard is Perfect!
We had a great stay at the Slow Pace Cottage. We entertained family in the back yard almost every night we were there. Belinda was easy to work with and we had everything we needed while we were there.
Wonderful place to stay close to Asheville in a great little town full of great things to do and eat
Only concern was not knowing how late the store was open until that we needed to pick up the key from because we were coming in late. It worked out alright. The place is set up very nicely for a great stay. We were gone for a large part of the weekend so didn’t get a chance to enjoy all the lovely outdoor accommodations which would be great. Perfect for our dog although there was a lot of loud activity at the store next door that my dog had to get used to. Overall it’s a lovely place.
Great spot for a week off
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was set with everything you could ever need or think of. We used the cooler in the pantry when we went out for hikes. My child loved the collection of toys and games. We enjoyed the walk into Black mountain and had dinner. And our dog loved the yard. It was bigger than our yard at home!
It's an old, historic home. The lot is at a busy part of Montreat road, so the traffic was loud at times. We also spent all week talking to our daughter about the "silly shower" because it seemed to have a life of its own. As soon as you get the temperature right in the shower, the pressure would change and you'd lose the heat or the cool... Then after a while, it would return on its own!
Overall, I loved it and would make it a yearly stay. My husband agreed it was just what we needed and was the right price point! Hope to return to the slow pace in the future!
Thanks for the great review! We have had three plumbers look at the shower, they agree with you, it has a life of its own. So I appreciate your patience . Since your stay we have added a gas grill and removed the full bed and added another queen, you'll have to come check it out. You are welcome anytime!
