Overview

About the property

Ideal for Large Families where 4 bedrooms and 3 baths are desired

Our large Luxury vacation home is very close to many beaches, golf courses, shopping and some of the best dining. This vacation villa is an entertainment destination with a south facing sun drenched pool deck complete with billiards table dart boards and a volleyball net for the pool. The house configuration has an ideal layout where 3 of the bedrooms and bathrooms are in their own wing of the house. Our 2300 sq ft holiday home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms decorated in Key West and Tropical colors for a soothing holiday atmosphere.

What will strike you immediately as you walk in, is the pool vista from almost every room starting from the front door, to the kitchen, dining room and master bedroom. The South facing pool deck streams sunshine into the house continuously accentuating your holiday feel, and calls you to come out to the pool.

What makes this home a hit with our guests is the close proximity to amenities like Del Prado Blvd where all the stores are within 5 minute drive but far enough away from the boulevard where the only sounds you will hear in the morning are the Florida tropical bird calls from your morning bed.

The following are some features of the Vacation Villa:

- LED HDTV in the Living room 40", King Master Bedroom 32", in King Guest bedroom 32"

- Over 100 Hollywood release Movies to watch free from the living room

- Billiards Tables, Dart board and Table Tennis may be played in the Lanai

- Salt water swimming pool - great for kids or adults sensitive to chemicals

- Electric heated pool - faster and more effective than solar in colder temps

- Heated SPA that overflows into pool as a water fall

- A large eat-in kitchen (up to 8)

- Ample counter space with counter task lighting and room for multiple chefs

- A separate formal dining area (for 6) to separate kids from adults if desired

- DIRECTV Channel Lineup that includes most Sports, News, Specialty, Children channels

- Netflix and streaming Movies in Bedrooms (FREE)

- Adult bicycles, Beach Supplies, Cooler, Pails

- Baby Crib or toddler bed available, upon request

- Location is within 15 minutes drive to Groceries, Dining, Shopping, Boat rentals

- Boat Dock with 4 Recliner Beach Chairs to sit and watch boats or fish go by

We are located in the Yachting Community of Cape Coral which has 400 miles over Canals, that's more than Venice Italy! We sit directly on the canal so you can enjoy watching the Dolphins, Manatees and Stingrays swimming along.

Our reviews speak for themselves. As proud vacation home owners, because we always dreamed of having one, we want to make our guests feel the same magic we felt when we spend time there in South West Florida. My father told me once that saving money is what you do all year long. Vacations are treasured life events where you get to spend some of those savings. The memories created will be replayed in your mind over your lifetime. A mediocre place will hardly be remembered.

If boating is your passion, then you will truly enjoying watching the Yachts on their way to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico as you lounge by your private Heated Pool complete with a Jacuzzi for two or just sit on the dock and the sunsets.

The home is conveniently located near Cape Coral Beach and is about 10 mins drive to Downtown Fort Myers. Visit the Ford and Edison Estates if you like taking in some history or take in some local seafood at Joe Crabshack.

The location is ideal for the ladies in the group because it is only 25 minutes drive to Fort Myers Beach or 30 minutes to Estero for shopping at outlet malls like Coconut Point Mall or Miromar Outlets or Tanger Outlet on your way to Sanibel Island on Summerlin Road.

For the guys, there are plenty of public Golf Courses around Cape Coral and Fort Myers to choose from like Eastwood (3.7 / 5.0) , Riverbend Golf Course (4.0 / 5.0), or Golf at Magnolia Landing (4.2 / 5.0), Eagle Ridge (3.6 / 5.0).

For those rich in taste, visit Downtown Naples and walk along 5th Avenue for some high end shops. Our advice is to go there for the view, or perhaps a coffee / glass of wine, but get your bargains at Tanger or Miromar Outlets.

About Michael Geraats

Catherine and Michael are first generation Canadians with parents from Germany, The Netherlands and Scotland. We love Florida, especially SW (South West) and particularly Cape Coral. The people are friendly, the beaches are clean and the weather is almost always sunny. We enjoy being hosts to our North American and European guests seeking a break from cold winters and in search of sun and fun.

Michael Geraats purchased this villa in 2011

Why Michael Geraats chose Florida South West

This property is located on a quiet street yet close enough to the main area of shopping on Del Prado Boulevard. You are only minutes away by car to take one of 2 bridges over to Fort Myers to explore Fort Myers Beach or Sanibel Island.

Shopping outlets are nearby at Tanger Outlets or Miramar Outlets in Estero.

Local Golf courses are very inexpensive with golf carts included.

What makes this villa unique

The Southern facing backyard takes full advantage of the Florida sun which averages 266 days per year. It has a bright pool deck with pocket sliding glass doors that disappear behind the walls that really opens up the home to the outside.

Also a huge Kitchen made us fall in love with this home as we normally like Eat-in kitchens where family discussions brings everyone together, as a break from their iPhones and iPads (well maybe not always ;-).

AMAZING Family Easter Vacation 2017

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this home for 11 days around Easter. To be honest, I really don't even know where to start. There were 8 for most of the trip and then dropped to 7. I have to tell you the house is laid out so great we never felt crowded. The pictures really don't do this villa justice. We had no problem cooking for 2 families and the pool and spa were a daily delight. I have older kids, the pool table was used constantly along with the dart board. As parents we could actually have a relaxing vacation because everything you needed was at your finger tips. My son (18) spent most of his time by the canal hoping to catch the "big one". He caught several cat fish and I had the pleasure of seeing 2 dolphins swim one late afternoon while I was by the pool. The fish in the morning are very active and yes they do jump like the owner mentioned. It was jaw dropping. Waking up and brewing coffee and sitting outside in the morning (alone) was my cherished time. Actually I could of used 11 more days. I'll summarize some things that are there to help travelers.

1. Everything you need for the beach. There is a cooler, chairs enough for 7. One of the chairs was broken prior to us arriving. Beach toys if you have smaller children. Beach towels are there in every bedroom for you to use as well.

2. Pack extra towels for daily use. There are (2) large towels per bathroom but if you are filling up all the bedrooms you will constantly be doing laundry.

3. Everything you need in the kitchen. There are basic spices and salt and pepper. Baking pans, skillets, pots etc.

4. Pack and/or buy pool floats. I left 2 there for people to use, however next time I will bring a little better one with me. There is a volleyball already there and pool volleyball was a nightly hit.

5. Very quiet area, you sometimes forget there are people around you. I cherished that. It was nice and relaxing. You won't be disappointed at all.

For the people prior who made comments on the labels and/or property manager, I though Heidi was easy and flexible. She met with my husband for like 45 minutes while I food shopped. Went over using the pool etc. If you don't think you need those instructions your crazy. The labels to me helped. After doing daily dishes you knew where everything went. I had no problem with either and if that's what bothers you then your missing a great home. Will book again 2018. Michael when can I expect my refund deposit? Thanks Anita

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Anita for such a wonderful review. I'm so happy you addressed a previous guest review complaining about everything being labelled. That was the brain child of my wife who could see in advance of its benefits for cleaning staff, guests in a new home not knowing where to place things and such. Leave it to the Woman who knows best ! By the way, your deposit is automatically returned by VRBO after 7 days, so it is on auto-pilot. Michael

Great time!! Will stay here again if we get the chance

  • 5 of 5

We were here for only 5 nights and it was great. Michael (the owner) and Heidi (property management) were in contact with us from the very beginning to the end of our stay. Michael provided great information about the house and the area. We found many new places to eat during this stay. I would highly recommend this property for a family stay. Plenty of recreational equipment and the pool was great.

phenomenal

  • 5 of 5

I will never stay in a hotel again if a private home is available! This home was everything and more. The home is private, spotless, nice neighbors. close enough to all the beaches. walking distance to food . I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Property manager very helpful. she met us at the home on arrival. This would be excellent choice for a family, or couples. only thing I didn't expect was a usage cap on electricity, otherwise NOTHING negative to say....WE WERE VERY SAD TO LEAVE!!!!!!

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

We'd definitely stay at this house again. It was perfect! Perfect location, great amenities, very well stocked with just about anything you need, and nice and clean. The pool was a hit with the grandkids and the adults sure did enjoy the pool table out on the lanai. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

Feb 11-25th 2017, family trip

  • 5 of 5

Great property. Really enjoyed the pool. Grandkids played Marco Polo and Volleyball for hours. Grandson enjoyed fishing but only caught a crab which did escape. Great fun and memories.

Some great local restaurants, "Beach Brothers BBQ" on Del Pardo (reasonable and people were fantastic). "Ford's Garage" good burgers and enjoyed the Ford memorable. Kids enjoyed "Edison museum (Ages 12,13,15). Really enjoyed escaping winter in New England.

Found home well equipped with balls, bikes and games. Everything is labeled with instructions which I did like for cleanup and checkout. Everything has a place.

Mike , the owner was responsive to all questions. Also property manger was helpful. Neighborhood was quiet and enjoyed the view overlooking the canal. Considered renting a boat.

Clean and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in multiple condos and houses through VRBO over the years. This house was definitely the cleanest.

The location is close to neighborhood parks, dining, groceries, etc. It is on a pretty canal and one could bring their boat if they wanted to. The house is very large, and could easily accommodate 2 families. I would give this house a strong recommendation for people not wanting to stay directly on the beach.

Cape Coral was founded in 1957. Real estate developers Leonard and Jack Rosen purchased a 103-square-mile (270 km2) tract known as Redfish Point for $678,000 in that year and, in 1958, began development of the city as a master-planned, pre-planned community.

The Gulf American Corporation (GAC) was formed to develop the area. Canals were dug, streets paved, houses and businesses built. Cape Coral was promoted like no other Florida development. Celebrities were brought in to tout the benefits of 'the Cape', as it is known locally. The first building was the Rosens' company headquarters, at the corner of Coronado and Cape Coral Parkway. Cape Coral's first permanent resident was Kenny Schwartz, the Rosens' general manager. Cape Coral's first four homes were completed in May 1958, on Riverside and Flamingo Drives. Gulf American operated a fleet of five Cessna 172 aircraft to show prospective buyers the development, flying 108,000 passengers in a single year.

Development continued through the early 1960s, mostly on Redfish Point, south of Cape Coral Parkway. By 1963, the population was 2,850; 1,300 buildings had been finished or were under construction; 80 mi (130 km) of road had been built, and 160 mi (260 km) of canals had been dug. The public yacht club, a golf course, medical clinic and shopping center were up and running. A major addition for Cape Coral was the construction of the 3,400 feet (1,000 m) long Cape Coral Bridge across the Caloosahatchee River, which opened in early 1964. Before the bridge, a trip to Fort Myers was more than 20 mi (32 km) via Del Prado Boulevard and over the Edison Bridge to cross the river.

There was a lot of hype, promotion and advertising. Celebrities like Bob Hope, Anita Bryant, and Hugh Downs were brought in. A movie with Phyllis Diller, The Fat Spy (1966), was filmed in Cape Coral and so were episodes of the TV show Route 66.

The city incorporated in August 1970, and its population continued to grow rapidly until the real estate slowdown that gripped the region beginning in 2008.

In its early years, Cape Coral was known as a community with many retired residents. This changed with a population and construction boom in the 1990s, which brought in younger families and professionals. Twenty percent of the population is seasonal residents. Nowadays, the city has a wide variety of businesses, retail shops and restaurants on its major arteries: Cape Coral Parkway, Del Prado Boulevard, Santa Barbara Boulevard and Pine Island Road.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 120 square miles, 110 square miles of it is land and 10 square miles of it (9%) is water. Cape Coral is a large peninsula and is bordered in the south and east by the Caloosahatchee River and in the west by Matlacha Pass. The city of Fort Myers lies across the Caloosahatchee River to the east, and Matlacha and Pine Island lie across Matlacha Pass to the west. Matlacha Pass is home to Matlacha Pass National Wildlife Refuge and the state's Matlacha Pass Aquatic Preserve.

Canals

Cape Coral Florida has over 400 miles of canals, more than any other city in the world. Most of the canals are navigable and some have access to the Gulf of Mexico. Cape Coral's canal system is so extensive that local ecology and tides have been affected.
