THE PONDEROSA ON CHALK CREEK Creekside Mountain Home

This beautiful home features decks on three sides, showcasing Chalk Creek, a greenbelt, and some of Colorado’s most stunning peaks. With five bedrooms (3 kings and 2 queens), there is plenty of space for 10 guests to sleep comfortably in their own rooms. For added flexibility, the home also includes 2 sofa sleepers and a pack-n-play—perfect for larger groups or families. The game room offers pool and foosball, making it a fun spot for guests of all ages. For a true mountain getaway, this location is hard to beat!

In accordance with our Chaffee County license, this home is not available for events such as weddings or large parties. Small gatherings are welcome as long as they are respectful of the neighborhood and do not exceed the maximum number of guests on the reservation.

Please note: VRBO’s presentation of nightly rates is not always accurate. Our base rate covers up to 8 guests, with an additional charge of $30 per person, per night for each guest beyond that. We had six people in our party, and there was plenty of room for everyone and multiple seating areas indoor and outdoors. The kitchen and the blackstone grill made for great meals. The creek is beautiful right outside, but also some amazing hikes in the area. We would definitely return here for another get together!

Our stay at this property was fantastic. Waking up every morning with the view of the mountains was a great bonus. Also, having the creek right outside the back of the house was great. The house was laid out well and the kitchen was well equipped. An extra bonus was all the amenities close buy. We had hiking a short 7 minutes away, and also took advantage of the hot springs that were only 5 minutes from the house. It also only took 15 minutes to get to Buena Vista for food and fun.

Great house! Plenty of spaces for hanging out and playing games inside the house. The layout was great for seeing everyone. Outside had several wonderful places to hang out by the river. The house was just as described. It was very roomy and the kitchen was top notch. The outdoor seating and amenities would have been wonderful but in November it was too cold to enjoy them. We did see deer and wild turkeys on the property while we were there.Make sure you read the manual, closely, otherwise you won't find the WIFI password.

We've stayed in this home previously. We returned for our 20 year Anniversary with our family. We love the home and location. We loved the updates to the exterior and added patios near the creek since the last visit. Overall the home inside was much the same. It holds a traditional decor that is still appealing. One thing that was a disappointment but was really only fault of my own, is that I didn't realize it no longer has A.C. It was very hot during our stay and the beautiful sky lights heated the main living space up to nearly 90. We took the temp. My older brother and sister in law had to depart after the second night of our 7 day stay because they couldn't handle the heat with their health. I've read up that VRBO doesn't have to state no A.C. if they do not have it. If it's not under amenities VRBO customers need to know it's not included. Again, host was great we were just uneducated on the layout of the listing. Just assuming A.C. would be listed but with a red X or something to give a clear indication. Apparently this is pretty typical in a mountain home but as hot as it gets in the summer months and coming from Illinois we didn't realize this was common until now. My own family stayed the duration of our stay and were gone a lot for daytime activities. The house cooled down by bedtime with utilizing the screen doors and fans. Knowing what we know now I would still return to the home, we love it! We'd probably just stick to visiting during cooler weather.

Wonderful retreat

The property is wonderful. Creekside setting, fire pit, well-equipped kitchen. My wife and I brought daughter and son-in-law and five young adult grandchildren. We will definitely come back. Property Manager Renee was a delight to deal with.

Great Location

The property is in a great location right on Chalk Creek. Really enjoyed the multiple decks and outdoor space. Plenty of room in the house for our group and beds were comfortable. Close to Buena Vista and right next to the hot springs.

Lovely home perfectly located on the river

We loved the central location with our favorite activities: Salida, Buena Vista, St.Elmo, Chalk Creek/Lake. Nice kitchen, sitting areas inside and outside with the fire pit and sitting area by the creek. Very roomy house for everyone to enjoy without feeling cramped at all.
