Guestbook comments from the owner

Hakan and Kaye are indeed ideal hosts – attentive, anticipating our needs and very willing to accommodate any requests. My wife and I stayed in their adorable casita for 5 nights. We relished the made-to-order breakfasts with fresh squeezed orange juice and took breathtaking hikes in the nearby desert preserves suggested by Hakan. The casita was tastefully appointed and the bed oh-so-comfy. There was plenty of space in the closet and bathroom to put things away, so we didn’t have to live out of our suitcases. We are madly scanning our calendars looking for our opportunity to return. [Originally posted on another site. Guests accommodation was Bed & Breakfast]

Nicest Spring Training Stay

  • 5 of 5

Araminta house is beautifully done, and the location was perfect for us. We had all our meals outside on the patio. And for people who like to cook, it is hard to imagine a better equipped kitchen. The large lot meant the neighbors weren't too close. And the pool is a nice shape for lap swimming. We hope to book this house again next spring.

Outstanding Experience

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had the best Spring time retreat in Scottsdale in this amazing home. The house was very large and extremely well maintained. We loved staying at this big house. Located in the Sonora desert, with spring in full bloom it we feel in love with this home. Everything was perfect and we were completely blown away by the experience of a flowering desert with yellow, red, blue, purple and green everywhere. The home owners were very helpful in planning our trip and ensuring our stay was perfect. We plan to come back next spring again.

Desert in bloom

  • 5 of 5

This was my second visit to north Scottsdale but my first visit in April. Now I can fully understand why the Sonoran desert is called a green desert. It is beautiful! Kay and Hakan's house is wonderfully situated just south of Cave Creek with plenty of access to hiking and biking trails. Shopping is just around the corner and for more Outlet style shopping the Desert Ridge Mall is just 10 minutes away. The home itself is very luxurious with space age appliances, flat screen TVs and a whole wall that opens up to the backyard. We didn't spend a lot of time at the house (we were in Scottsdale for a wedding) however the setting with natural desert on three sides of the house allowed us to see coyotes, quails, rabbits, hawks and much more of the wildlife. Much appreciated!

Super bowl and spring training base camp

  • 5 of 5

With a last minute tickets to Super bowl it was impossible to find any reasonable accommodation in the Phoenix area, however my son and I hit a double score and lucked out that Kay and Håkan just put Araminta House on the vacation rental market. We ended up spending most of a week in luxury with the best ever beds, calm and relaxing garden and very convenient location at the north end of the valley. We didn’t get to spend enough time at the house since Super bowl had us out and about all days long though we are already planning our next spring training season and will make Araminta House our base. It is the perfect location to cover Scottsdale, Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria, where the main arenas are.

Lone Mountain Vistas

  • 5 of 5

I would like to extend a big thanks to Håkan and Kay for hosting me and my family at their new house in north Scottsdale/Cave Creek. The house is very different from their other Scottsdale home however it is equally or even better appointed; with ceilings that range between 10 – 16 feet it feels huge, the appliances are top notch. In fact I don’t think I have ever seen a fridge as big as this one. And this was my first experience with an induction cooker top, it become a favorite after realizing it is actually responding even faster and can get hotter than a gas cooker. My favorite outdoor place was the front driveway that is very private with panoramic views of the mountains. I started the mornings with a coffee, comfortably seated in their deep seat chairs, watching birds, rabbits and the occasional coyote, all against a backdrop of natural desert and mountains. This is really a wonderful home and we are glad to have experienced it. We are sure to return next time we come to Scottsdale.

Thanks!

Owner's Response: You are most welcome! We are always pleased to see return guests and the fact that we now can offer two premium vacation rental locations is an extra bonus. It is true this is a higher end home with appliances and construction that is well above what you see in most homes. All the kitchen appliances are Electrolux ICON series and even if the fridge isn't a "walk-in" fridge, the fridge/freezer combination is big enough even for the largest family. I agree the induction cooker is special. It took me several days to stop burning the omelets since it is incredibly powerful and fast, but now that I have learnt to master it there is nothing that pleases me more than to make scrambled eggs with steak for breakfast. As we discussed, the home would be perfect with a pool to complete the experience. The good news is that we are now in contract with a builder and we expect to have the pool in the ground before the end of the summer. We are looking forward to having you and your family back to explore our expanded experience!

Happy first ladies

  • 5 of 5

When I reached out to Kay and Hakan to inquire about returning to Casa Hopi I discovered that they now also have Araminta House and that it was available. Based on my earlier experience from staying at their Scottsdale house I quickly booked a long weekend for me and my daughters. What I didn't know when I made the reservation was that we would be the very first guests staying at the house. We had very high expectations that were met and exceeded, just like at Casa Hopi. Kay and Hakan had gone the extra length to fill the kitchen with a lot of surprises that made the welcome so much more fun. Araminta House is beautiful, from the circular driveway that greets you to the turret my youngest called a princess tower! The big iron door was so heavy two of the girls had to work together to open it. I really felt like a castle. Our favorite place was the fire pit away from the house out in the garden. That was where we finished our days before returning to our big bedrooms to sleep on brand new sheets. Since we knew beforehand there wasn't a pool we weren't disappointed at all. We are definitely looking forward to coming back and hopefully the pool will have been installed by then.

Owner's Response: Dear Karen, we are so happy the group of Princesses were happy in their castle! The fact that you brought your family back to our newest property is big reward for us since it proves that we are doing something right. Thank you for your kind words and we are very much looking forward to seeing you back when the pool has been installed. The outline of the pool is actually drawn out on the grass lawn. We are just a few weeks away from breaking ground. The castle will get its moat.

Araminta House is located where North Scottsdale and Phoenix meet Cave Creek and Carefree which means you get the best of Sonoran desert experience for hiking, biking and riding combined with closeness to urban conveniences like grocery stores, restaurants and bars. Our neighborhood is very safe with mainly large homes on even larger (1 acre+) lots. Going south we are about 40 minutes from the Sky Harbor Phoenix airport. Continuing south there is another 1.5h to Tucson or 2h to the Mexican border. Going north there is just under 2 hours to Sedona and then another 1.5h to the Grand Canyon south rim. If you have never been to Las Vegas, then it is only 5h away.
