Garrard went above and beyond my expectations for the weekend. He was very accomodating and provided lots of details for the surrounding area. I can’t wait to come back!

Snowed In!

  • 5 of 5

After a harrowing drive up from Atlanta in a snowstorm, this was the perfect retreat to spend the weekend in a winter wonderland. The house is very cozy and has everything you need. The fireplace was perfect for warming up after snowy walks, and sitting in the hot tub watching the snow fall was magical. The hot tub and deck are very private and overlook a beautiful forest, with a stream. Garrard was very helpful and quick to resolve any issues. Only a short 5-10 minute drive into town, but we never really wanted to leave the cabin! Also, the beds were very comfortable and the cookware was good quality, which is always appreciated!

Outstanding little cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend in this property. My wife and I went to High Cotton to celebrate my 40th birthday. Its a great jumping off point for the Highlands area perfectly located close to delicious restaurants, beautiful waterfalls, and great shopping. The massive outside deck was great, and the private hot tub was so relaxing. The stream down the hill creates a wonderful soundtrack for the entire outdoor space . The owner was very responsive with the few questions we had. Honestly we had such a good time I almost didn't want to write a review and let others know how great it was, for fear it may be booked in the future. Unless we needed more than the 3 bedrooms I cant imagine staying anywhere else in the Highlands area. We can't wait to come back!

Twice This Year Already...And Ready To Go Back!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough nice things about this property. We stayed at High Cotton in February for four nights and went back for four more nights this month to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It is a very secluded mountain setting complete with a babbling brook down below, which is so soothing. There is a great deck outside for cocktails or grilling and a large hot tub for late night enjoyment. Plenty of wood is provided for the wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is second to none when it comes having everything you need and then more. There is even a Crockpot! The location is great with charming downtown Highlands right in your backyard and it is a quick drive to Cashiers and Franklin if you want to go exploring. We are ready to go back!

Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved this cozy cottage for our anniversary getaway from the big city. Its perfectly situated with a wooded view off the private balcony and minutes to amazing restaurants, shopping and breathtaking waterfalls. Wild Thyme was our favorite for a celebration dinner and the chicken and waffles from Mountain Fresh are a must try! The owner is very responsive if there's anything you need. We can't wait to come back!

About The Owner

I am a young professional who lives in Atlanta. I bought this property to have a weekend get a way place that was a short drive from Atlanta. I live in the Vinings area of Atlanta and can be at my Highlands place in two hours and 15 minutes door to door.

The Owner purchased this house in 1999

Why The Owner chose Highlands

I bought my house in Highlands as an investment. The town of Highlands continues to grow and attract a sophisticated yet casual group of successful visitors and home owners. The Highlands community is very cordial and offers everything from live theater to antique shopping and other great retail stores. Highlands Main Street has been called the Worth Avenue of the mountains. Main Street offers everything from screw drivers to fine dining to estate jewelry and home accessories.

What makes this house unique

High Cotton Cottage offers many great benefits to enjoy during your stay. The cottage is located on a hill which over looks Buck Creek. You can hear the soothing sounds of the creek from my decks and many rooms of the house. The cottage is very cozy and has a stone fireplace with a gas starter. The hot tub on the rear of the house looks off into the woods for total relaxation and enjoyment. The cottage is located in a private neighborhood owned by a group of five families who are all friends.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a great place to stay! This cottage is a great value for a stay in Highlands. My wife loved the quaint setting and she felt safe when I was away. We have rented this cottage for a month for the past two summers. We will continue to rent here and have asked the owner to let us know if he ever wants to sell this place.
