About Ernie & Betty Phelps
We are a happy couple with many hobbies and passions, including making jewelry. Betty is a business analyst for a financial software company. Ernie is a software consultant. We have several pets and enjoy seeing pictures of our guests with their pets on the grounds of the house.
Ernie & Betty Phelps purchased this House in 2015
Why Ernie & Betty Phelps chose Hiawassee
Many of our vacations have been spent in the Hiawassee area. We enjoy going to the William Holland jewelry school and exploring the many distinct towns in the area. Long term we will probably spend some or most of the year in this picturesque area.
What makes this House unique
The stone work was what we first noticed when we drove up to the property. Real stone walls, flower beds and the huge stone fire pit area in front of the cook house drew us in. Inside we were enamored of the high ceilings and Tuscan fixtures. We have added some cast iron elements and plan to accent more with it as we get more time to spend at this wonderful retreat.

Large, homey home with great views!
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely yet lived in feeling home. Great kitchen. We were a family of 7 adults 3 children and 2 dogs. Plenty of room. We were very disappointed that the living room fireplace was out of order but the owners were very accommodating in making up for our disappointment. Over all we had a very nice time. Great location. Thank you to the owners for your quick responses and allowing us to extend our stay couple of days.
This is the third year we have rented this mountain property. It’s comfortable, large and quiet. We love it! Can’t wait to stay there again next year!!!
We love this place. Have an amazing views and everything is near the property. Perfect house ever ❤️
We had a wonderful time. There were 7 of us and the house was plenty big enough for all of us. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. It's in a great location - close to the lake. We went to Bell Mountain, visited wineries in Dahlonga, explored Helen and spent the day at Jack Rabbit park. Would highly recommend this VRBO rental. Beautiful house, location and wonderful yard. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks, Betty and Ernie!
Amazing rental for a family. Really close to Lake Chatuge. We enjoyed our stay. We will be back for sure!
Thanks Annette! We are pleased you all had a wonderful time in Hiawassee.
Property was fabulous. Check in and out was a breeze. If only we could have reserved the sunshine.
Thanks Maria. We are happy you were pleased and hope you return for sunshine next year. Fall is wonderful for seeing all the fall colors.
