Welcome to Neptune's Song in Encinitas on the legendary Neptune Avenue.
The lullaby of ocean waves floats through this exclusive luxury 3 bedroom master suite home overlooking the Pacific in the Encinitas enclave of Leucadia, a hidden gem in San Diego County. Recognized as one of the most quintessential surf towns in the world and one of the last frontiers of laid-back, truly authentic beach locales, the beaches here are pristine, the locals are joyful and friendly, and the vibe is exceptionally relaxing.
This corner property is completely enclosed, so once you enter the gates you feel like you’ve found your own private oasis, where you can watch the moon sink into the Pacific and fall asleep to her song. Built only 7 years ago, the completely custom home with ocean views from just about every room sits on a raised lot and faces the southeast, so the place is filled with light all day.
The home will steal your heart in the first night. Truly custom-built and devoted to the surrounding environment, the 3,200 square feet of living space is graciously spread out across a split-level floor plan that allows the best of both worlds: privacy and community. All 3 bedrooms offer full private bathrooms, allowing enough space for the perfect multi-family or friend get-away. There’s plenty of room for everyone to hang out in the huge family room downstairs or the great room overlooking the ocean upstairs, where a fully stocked chef's dream kitchen awaits the culinary artist. Fire up the grill on the deck for a down-home bbq, or really get creative and make your own pizza in the wood-fired pizza oven.
This house has something for everyone. Like to golf? There’s a three-hole putting green in the backyard. Like to read? Pick out a book from the library and find your quiet space in one of the home’s hidden nooks or sneak up to the secret roof-top deck with 360 degree whitewater views. The family room still reverbs with music from its former life as a recording space for multi-platinum, Grammy-winning artists, where you will find an antique (and beautifully playable) restored square grand piano, a six-string acoustic guitar, a ukulele, and the voice of the brave family member singing soon-to-be memories. Netflix, Amazon Prime, and hundreds of TV channels are on the two 50" flat-panel televisions and overstuffed beanbags and a Play Station 3 with plenty of games for the kids are there for the playing.
And when it’s beach time, bring along the 4 provided beach chairs, umbrella, 2 boogie boards, 8-foot foam surfboard, sand toys and enough beach towels for everyone. The house is perfectly situated in the middle of two of the best surf breaks and beaches, Grandview and Beacon's Beach. Both serve as beautiful vacation playgrounds and are a short 5-minute walk from the house.
You won’t find a shortage of things to do around town, so leave your car keys on the kitchen table and walk to the nearby local-favorite restaurants, grocery store, yoga center, nightlife and more. The house is a short drive to all the famous San Diego tourist attractions, including Sea World, San Diego Zoo or the Safari Park, USS Midway, Balboa Park, Coronado Island, and Legoland (5 minutes away). And just ask us about local tips, off-the-beaten path adventures, or where the best Mexican food is, and we’ll be happy to share our favorite places with you!
Pets are welcome! This home was built for dogs. Let us know if you will be bringing along your extended family, there is a $100 pet fee. We include up to two dog beds, treats, poo bags and a friendly environment with their own private entrance.
What else makes this home unique… well, Grammy-winning and Platinum-selling artists have written songs and recorded here (you can find some of their signatures on one of the bedroom walls) and shared many meals and stories in this house. The voices of Nickel Creek, Switchfoot, New Found Glory, Eve6, Shawn Mullins, and many, many others have echoed off these walls. The living room downstairs was home to a recording studio, where a piano still sits under the window and guitars hang from the walls.
This home also provides a glimpse into the future of automated homes. The front door lock is keyless, so you’ll never lose a key in the beach sand. A simple code pressed into the keypad will open the door into the dramatic entry, and when arriving at night, the system knows to turn on the entry lights, conserving energy. The central heating and air filtration system is Wi-fi based and can be controlled from any smart phone and the combo smoke and CO detector will alert the property manager should an alarm be triggered.
There is a granny flat that has a female resident located in the back. She travels quite a bit and is rarely home. This flat is completely separate form the house and you wouldn't even know she is there, because she probably isn't. Please ask should you have any concerns.
This house truly has it all… the only thing missing is you!
This house is a very special place and is often recognized on historic Neptune Avenue as a favorite of passers-by on their evening walks. But it’s more about what’s inside the house that is both calming and inspiring, something I noticed almost fifteen years ago when I bought the little bungalow that had stood here for decades as a charming but neglected weekend home. The relaxing and energizing feel of the place settled in and grew after I built the new house, where I’ve lived for over a decade, where some great songs have been written, where some great artists have been recorded. And where some great memories have been made.
Dave Nash purchased this house in 2003
Encinitas is one of the last truly laid-back beach towns with welcoming locals and an authentic feel. I love that you can walk everywhere from the house: great restaurants and coffee shops, an organic market, colorful bars, yoga studios, even the one-room post office are all within walking distance. And if you want to retreat to the oasis of your own private residence and enjoy a home-cooked meal overlooking the Pacific, this is the place.
This corner property is completely enclosed, so once you enter the gates you feel like you’ve found your own private oasis, where you can watch the moon sink into the Pacific and fall asleep to her lullaby. Built only 7 years ago, this completely custom home with ocean views from just about every room sits on a raised lot and faces the southeast, so the place is filled with light all day. Scenes from a best-selling book took place here and you’ll feel the magic of the place in the pages and walk through the rooms where moments happened that not only changed the author’s life but also the lives of thousands of other people who read the stories. This is a very special home to me as well as the people who have stayed here.
We travel quite frequently and always enjoy being pleasantly surprised when it comes to our accommodations. From the moment we arrived at Neptune's Song we fell in love with the ambiance, and beauty of this magnificent home. The home is open, spacious and offers several areas to lounge and enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean. In addition, upon our arrival we had a gorgeous welcome basket with a fabulous wine. We could not have asked for more and we look forward to returning soon!!!

The property was exactly as shown and beautiful location. Ultra responsive manager.
We were temporarily relocated from our house in La Costa due to a flood requiring our home to be torn apart and under construction. We were so incredibly lucky to come across this dream of a VRBO property with views to die for. The house is perfectly appointed with very comfortable accommodations. I don't even know where to begin to be honest. The house is so COMFORTABLE and has the feel of home, please views from all levels and the perfect accommodations for even your four-legged critters. Waking up to the ocean every day should be what every doctor's orders, my only complaint is that we were NOT on vacation and able to enjoy all that Neptune's Song had to offer enough hours of the day. With that said, we took it all in and enjoyed making homemade pizza with the woodfired pizza oven in the courtyard, enjoyed walking to dinner/lunch at fabulous restaurants, nightly walks on the beach or around the neighborhood and the even sunsets on the patio or rooftop deck.
We can't to experience this property again, next time for a family staycation and not due to unfortunate circumstances.
Thank you to Dave (property manager) and the owner for offering this beautiful home to us for 10 days. I didn't want to leave.
We truly enjoyed every moment of our week-long getaway! Neptune's Song was exactly as described in their summary & the location was central to all our surfing & social needs. The pictures are a realistic representation & the property was safely enclosed for our four-legged friends. We spent many relaxing afternoons on the upstairs deck watching the sunsets.
A huge thank you to the MOST attentive property manager we have ever come across with VRBO! Dave promptly addressed a couple of minor maintenance items in a speed of light fashion (aerobed with a slow leak, a slow leak @ the kitchen faucet, dirty windows distracting from the view & a faulty light switch). More importantly though, Dave demonstrated that he was easily available & willing to make our stay what we expected when making our reservation. He has great local recommendations & is very personable. He encouraged us to try the pizza oven & we took him up on the suggestion. It made for an incredibly fun, gourmet family night, YUM! Looking very much forward to returning again!
A note to the owner & future renters, there are no knobs or pulls on any of the cabinets, anywhere. This makes it very challenging to open them, especially for someone with arthritic concerns. As we understand this has been mentioned before & we hope that the owner feels inspired to address this important need! There is also a large "door" coffee table on the upstairs deck that is awkward & consumes much of the deck space, more seating & less table would be awesome!
the location is great. it is a quite area with easy access to the freeway, grocery stores, etc. Loved being able to watch the ocean from the deck and the "crow's nest". having 2 living areas, one for the kids and one for the adults was very handy and having a garage was awesome! The owner was great to work with. The house had everything we wanted and we would definetely stay there again if we get the chance. the only criticism we had was the lighting situation is crazy. we couldn't figure it out in the week we were there!
We could not have asked for anything more from this beautiful but thoroughly comfortable beachfront property. The clean freak in our group mentioned how clean it was; the hikers loved its proximity to the beach; the musicians loved the piano and guitars; and the cooks loved the woodburning pizza oven and well-equipped kitchen. It was truly perfect!
And did I mention the GORGEOUS views? Spectacular!
A special thanks to Dave, also. He is very attentive to detail and remained patient with us despite my changing the dates numerous times.
We will be back!
