About The Chapmans

Welcome to the TYNMAN Riverside Lodge! We have recently purchased a home that's been in our family for years. My husband's parents decided to move to a different part of Georgia so we bought this jewel in the mountains. We were so excited to be offered the opportunity to own property in Hiawassee.

The Chapmans purchased this house in 2015

Why The Chapmans chose Hiawassee

Hiawassee is a quaint town in the North Georgia Mountains only a couple of hours from Atlanta. A great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

What makes this house unique

Relax on the screened back porch on the swing or adirondack chairs. Have coffee while listening to the river. Sit on the front porch rocking chairs while reading your favorite book. Refresh and recharge in Hiawassee!

A charming, inviting home.

  • 5 of 5

This home was adorable, exceptionally clean, and tastefully decorated. We will definitely return here. The rush of the river out back was so comforting. The Chapmans were kind enough to let us switch weekends after the concert we were attending in town was rescheduled. The only regret we had was that the weather was too cool to enjoy the back porch area. I don't believe the pictures do this home justice. It was much more than we anticipated. We look forward to our next trip here.

Very Peaceful, Fun, Relaxing Cabin on the River!

  • 5 of 5

First, we stayed here waaay back in 2015, but the website doesn't let you go back that far to choose a date! However, because our stay at the cabin was so fun and relaxing, we wanted to complete the review process all these years later. It wasn't our first choice when we first started looking, but we're definitely glad now the other places we first looked at were booked!

From the moment you turn off the main road, and up into the neighborhood, you can see you're someplace nice. The surrounding area is a small area of clean, well maintained homes and cabins, most on a gently winding, road that loops back around towards the entrance. We suggest driving in and out both directions to enjoy the views and other homes. The homes are all nestled in a plain on the back side of a good size hill that separates it from the main road- so there's little to no noise at all.

The cabin itself is charming and finely renovated. We could tell that just from the pictures online. The beds were all very comfortable and our son

loved sleeping outside on the porch in the hanging bed! He said it was extremely peaceful falling asleep with the sound of flowing water all night.

The cabin was equipped with everything a family would need to enjoy their stay here- from the kitchen, to the back porch, and garage where we found some fishing equipment to use. As a fisherman, the gear worked fine fishing for trout in the river behind the house with the kids, but it never hurts to bring your own if you have it. We caught fish in the river, but there's plenty of other fishing spots within a short drive from the cabin.

We loved wading and cooling off in the river, so definitely bring your swimming gear, just be careful getting in and out...the steps are naturally slippery and definitely not for elderly guests.

You can easily visit the highest place in GA, Brasstown Bald, from here, too. The road leading up to it is just a few minutes down the main road.

We highly recommend driving East on 76 to go rafting on the wild and scenic Chattooga River. It was incredible. We happened to go with Southeastern Expeditions. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and after talking with him a while, discovered he was a true waterman, who had years of experience rafting and kayaking some of the most dangerous rivers in the country. That made me feel a lot safer putting my family's safety in his hands.

The Hiawassee cabin was a tremendous hit with both us and the kids- we'll be back!
