Near Downtown And On Appalachian Trail. WIFI. Romantic Getaway With Jetted Tub!

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Cozy cabin with a covered porch, private master bedroom and extra beds available

Just a few minutes’ walk or drive to downtown Hot Springs and a one minute walk from the Appalachian Trail’s entry into Hot Springs, Chickadee Cabin offers excellent convenience while still remaining secluded and peaceful on a quiet street tucked into the woods.

Wake up to the birds singing out back and enjoy a fresh morning cup of coffee on the covered porch, or meander in to town on the Appalachian Trail for a day exploring Hot Springs’ restaurants, local crafts, rafting and more. The cabin is within a few minutes’ drive of Hot Springs Spa where you can take a dip in a natural-fed hot tub, or stay home for a romantic evening complete with a two-person indoor Whirlpool jetted tub.

This is an ideal cabin for a couple wanting a mountain retreat while remaining close to all that Hot Springs has to offer. Kids or friends joining? There are two single beds in the main area to accommodate them!

Chickadee Cabin is outfitted with a kitchenette. This includes a coffee maker (of course!), a coffee bean grinder, a mini-fridge/freezer, a sink, a set of plates, bowls, and utensils, a cutting board, knife, and crock-pot. There is no oven or stove in this kitchenette.

On the covered porch there is a Weber charcoal grill for burgers and veggies! There is also a table and seating for four.

We pride ourselves on our VERY CLEAN cabin. Just check out our reviews!

Chickadee shares a wall with an adjacent cabin (Goldfinch). Each cabin has its own private parking and private entrance. Shared wall is soundproofed for privacy.

All linens (towels, washcloths, sheets, dish cloths) are provided. Bath bars and hand soaps are also included.

Yes! We do have air conditioning and heating.

There is a television as well as over 100 DVDs to choose from. We do not have cable TV.

We've got WiFi! We have the best WiFi that is possible to get at our location, BUT it is satellite internet and is affected by the weather and heavy usage times in the county. Do expect to be able to browse the web, but do not expect to be able to stream movies or music. Often it will, but sometimes it won't!

The cabin is on a well-maintained state road and the approach and parking is flat.

Chickadee Cabin is pet-friendly! Mostly we expect dogs, but cats may be welcome as well. If your pet is not house friendly (chewing, scratching, general chaos and destruction...) we ask that you kindly leave them elsewhere OR bring a kennel for their time in the house. A $25 pet fee covers up to two pets for the entire duration of your stay.

This is a NON SMOKING vacation rental. Smoking is permitted outdoors and ashtrays are provided.

About Natalie Marsh

I grew up in the much rockier Rocky Mountains of Colorado, raising goats, chickens, rabbits, horses, and a rotating selection of other farm critters with my parents and my younger sister.

I moved to North Carolina in 2009 and have spent much of my time gardening, studying wild edible and medicinal plants of the Appalachian Mountains, building and remodeling, and raising and milking a few more rogue goats. I live just outside of Hot Springs on a sunny hillside with my husband Andrew and daughter Chloe.

I love to welcome folk to Hot Springs and the surrounding area, so don't hesitate to ask me for hiking recommendations, the inside scoop on local swimming holes, or where to find homemade Appalachian crafts!

Why Natalie Marsh chose Hot Springs

You can't beat how close to Hot Springs this place is, while still feeling secluded! Having such easy access to the Appalachian Trail is a great benefit.

What makes this cabin unique

The cottage-style gardens and natural wood and stone exterior of the cabin is a style I love! I hope that it makes people feel like they are in another place and time, while still providing all modern conveniences and WiFi Internet

This cabin is one half of a duplex; this rental is for the Chickadee portion of the cabin. Each side has a completely separate entrance and parking. We call the other main section of this cabin Goldfinch, and it can be rented out in addition to Chickadee upon request. There is an interior door between the two sides that remains locked with soundproofing foam up. If both halves are rented, this door can be opened and the full cabin has the capacity to sleep 11 in beds. Perfect for a large group! Please see our Goldfinch listing (#724424) for photos and inquire for availability. Beginning in January of 2017, the interior doors connecting the two units will be removed as we remodel and upgrade our facilities. The full house may still be rented by renting both Chickadee and Goldfinch separately, but the two units cannot be connected inside.

Great location. Neat apartment.

The flowers are amazing, and the little cabin is well appointed. Kitchen is limited, but that's OK. Enjoyed our stay. We've already reserved for next year.

This is the quintessential mountain cabin getaway you dream of and rarely find.

  • 5 of 5

This darling little cabin is perfectly located nestled on a hillside surrounded by flowers, the AT trail and a national park. Inside you’ll find sweet and thoughtful touches with an attention to every detail. I’m torn between two feelings - wanting to keep it a secret just how special this place is so it will be available when I want it and wanting to give Natalie the praise she deserves for creating such a dreamy mountain retreat and sharing it with all of us.

We were here for two nights for wedding being held at the Mountain Magnolia Inn. We really enjoyed the hike and the views from Lovers Leap. We are planning to come back and stay longer than two nights so we can re-create the trip we just had but also have time for Garnet mining, soaking in the mineral Hot Springs, white water rafting, historical exploration and soaking up some more of the relaxed, comfortable, rejuvenated feeling you walk away with from spending time in the Chickedee cabin. <3

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! I am sorry to see that your stay was only 3 stars. We have built our business on the great experiences of our guests, and three stars is not up to our standards! If you have any more details or feedback to provide as to what could have made your stay a five star stay, please let me know so that I can integrate your feedback. As a note to the general VRBO public, I did get to meet Angela, as she had to return for her phone charger. She was very nice and polite! She did let me know that, though the jetted tub appeared fully clean when they arrived, when they filled the tub with water and turned the jets on, a body scrub product did come out of the jets. Understandably unappealing! I apologized, as I do all of the cleaning myself and would NEVER have left something intentionally unclean. I also immediately refunded Angela a portion of her rental cost for the inconvenience. I hope that any future guests could rest easy knowing that I respond quickly and honestly to all unexpected circumstances that may arise! Thanks, Natalie

I did receive the following message from Johanna after she posted her review "Thank you we loved your place the attention to detail was excellent I should have given a 5 star. I will highly recommend your place to friends" I did not message, call, or contact Johanna in any way to ask her for this message. Thanks, Johanna for the additional feedback :)
