About Rebecca and Jeff DeMiceli

Your proprietors are Jeff and Rebecca.

Rebecca has been coming to Cushing and Friendship Maine for the summer since she was an infant, like her father and grandmother before her. Jeff and Rebecca met in late 2003. Jeff first came to Maine during the summer of 2004, and the trip quickly became a huge part of his life as well. Rebecca and Jeff got married in 2010, after getting engaged the previous summer in a rowboat while floating in Muscongus Bay as fireworks from nearby Friendship Day illuminated the night sky. When Rebecca’s aunt and uncle decided to sell the property in 2012, Rebecca and Jeff jumped at the chance to own their own piece of Maine waterfront. Sadly, the existing cabin on the property was in serious disrepair and not salvageable. Rebecca and Jeff seized the opportunity to make the property truly their own and designed and built the cabin you see in the pictures. They, along with family and friends, built the cabin from the ground up during the summer of 2013. Jeff and Rebecca are thrilled to continue the tradition of summers in Maine with their own children, Vincent James, who was born in June 2014 and Vienna Leigh, who was born in May 2016. The finishing touches to the cabin were completed in early August 2015.

Rebecca and Jeff DeMiceli purchased this cabin in 2013

Windows on the World We Love

  • 4 of 5

If nothing else was as good as it is in this cozy cabin, the wall of windows looking out on Muscongus Bay would be worth it all. Herons fishing, loons calling, lobstermen checking their traps. Tides surging, foliage peaking, trees swaying in the breeze. Life as it should be lies right before your eyes.

And then there's that wonderful little wood stove and at least a rick of seasoned wood right outside the door.

Rebecca and Jeff were gracious in their correspondence, helpful making arrangements, and thoughtful with cabin provisions and details.

I'd happily bring family or friends again to this quiet, restorative place.

The owners were so wonderful to work with. They thought of everything. The cabin was absolutely beautiful. The beds were so comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. This was probably the cleanest a vacation home I've stayed in. The deck was amazing. I loved the decor and the little touches. There was a chest full of toys for my little ones to play with. The child proofing was everything! It made for a great stay. The magazine they provide as a guide to the area was so helpful. We had so much fun exploring the beach at low tide. My son loved finding things and watching all the crabs. Very muddy and river shoes are a must. We got to see some lobster boats at work. The view made for the prettiest pictures. Everything was on a smaller scale than I had pictured in my head. But that was great cause the beach was closer than I thought. We used the lobster cooker to make the most amazing meal. The cabin is a good ways out in the country be we didn't mind much. We went to Wallaces Market a little late in our stay. I'd suggest going there sooner. We went through Thomaston most of the time. The Maine State Prison showroom was amazing. So many beautiful things at great prices. Dormans ice cream was better than anticipated. Coconut Chip was so amazing. I got it twice during our stay. Hannaford was a good grocery store in Rockland. The Grasshopper store was cute for souvenirs and more. Camden shopping wasn't as good as I had hoped but it is beautiful. Mount Battie and the breakwater are musts. We really enjoyed eating at Claws and The Flatbread Company. Archers was good but a bit expensive for our taste. I am so glad we were able to stay here. It was just perfect.

Quiet, on the water, what more can you ask for?

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful, up to date, and had all the emenities that we needed. It was centrally located, and the owners allowed to launch our kayaks from there shared dock. We would return again.

Delightful find!

  • 5 of 5

Rebecca & Jeff’s cottage is a delight to stay in. We rented during the middle of June…so expected that it might be somewhat cool weather, and it was. But the wood stove definitely heats this newly built cottage well.

We are very familiar with the Cushing, Rockland, Camden area and have returned to this area year after year. So, were delightful to discover this cabin directly on the water in Cushing…a wonderful opportunity to relax and unwind from our busy lives.

As you can see from the pictures, the main living area is bright and cheerfully painted and decorated. In fact, the whole house is. Everything was supplied to provide us with a comfortable stay. We found it to be extremely clean and all amenities provided. When we needed to contact Rebecca, she responded very quickly.

We were especially impressed with the colorful, illustrated cabin life magazine produced by the DeMicelis, with directions on every aspect and utility of the cabin and suggestions for places to visit in Maine.

But the one thing I cannot leave out is this: the cabin is situated to take in some of the most breathtaking sunsets we have ever seen. We will hopefully return again in the future.

A Light-filled, Peaceful Retreat by the Bay

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, well-designed, clean cabin. It had all the amenities needed - comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and direct access to the water. The large windows bathed the cabin in natural light and offered breath-taking views of the bay, particularly during sunset. The deck is another wonderful living space that overlooks the water and provides a great space for relaxing reading and eating lobster. Access to the water is directly in front of the cabin. Our family took advantage of this accessibility - searching for hermit crabs at low-tide and kayaking in the bay. We also enjoyed the use of the fire pit in the evening which overlooks the bay.

The informative cabin life magazine that Rebecca and Jeff designed was very helpful. The detailed section on how to use a lobster pot was particularly appreciated when we cooked our own lobster for the first time - so yummy! Additionally, we enjoyed the Out and About section and tried many of the suggested listings for the local area. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your "small slice of paradise". We created many priceless memories here!

Map

Car: necessary

• Oceanfront:

Just feet from the shoreline of Muscongus Bay, with a view of the rocky Maine coastline and the setting sun. Enjoy watching the lobstermen, seabirds and other local wildlife every day.

• Rural:

Cushing is rural but only 15-20 minutes from larger towns, such as Thomaston & Rockland, with everything you need. Cushing has one general store with a variety of goods and homemade items. How rural can it be if you can get pizza delivered? Check our binder for the menu of the pizza place in Thomaston that delivers!

• Village:

Cushing is a very small village but has some great attractions. You can visit the working lobster docks to choose your own dinner or visit the historic Olsen House, best known for its portrayal in the works of the Wyeth family.
