About Cheryl Santos

My husband Jim and I moved to Cayuga Lake in 2002 - he from Pine City NY and me from Hawaii. We both are naturally drawn to water, so Cayuga Lake was our chosen place. My husband has 3 grown children and he retired in 2012. Now our children are of the four-legged sort (we have friendly tale-wagging dogs and we invite you to bring your dogs along). We live directly across the street from the cabin and we are always available if you need anything. We take great pride in providing a clean, comfortable vacation property, and it is important to us that you have a wonderful vacation experience. We want to ensure that you’ll make memories here that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Cheryl Santos purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Cheryl Santos chose New York

We chose Cayuga Lake for its natural beauty, the variety of things to see and do in close proximity, yet also the tranquility of country living. We envisioned building a cabin here so we could share this unique area with others, providing a comfortable retreat for our guests. We designed and built the cabin as a contemporary modern space yet with rustic charm.

What makes this cabin unique

Situated in a sunny field adjoining the woods, this log cabin is a tranquil retreat. It is very spacious for 2 – 6 people with an open floor plan, cathedral ceilings, and 2 private bedrooms. It is impeccably clean and is well equipped with most necessary items. A walking trail across the street gives you access to Cayuga Lake. The cabin is centrally located on the Cayuga Wine Trail. Nearby are hiking trails, biking paths, and quaint shops. The cabin rental costs less per person than many hotels, plus you have your own private space. The radiant floor heating warms the cabin to a cozy temperature on cool nights. It is also air conditioned for your comfort in summer months.

Charming modern clean cabin. Worth the stay and close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

What a pleasant stay we had in this cabin. All the amenities of home. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Owners are a pleasure as well. The trek down to the water access is a bit demanding on the young at heart! Beautiful but be mindful it's not all stairs. Had a wonderful time. Thank you Cheryl and Jim for your hospitality. We'll be back next year for a longer stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you Shannon for this wonderful review! I enjoyed meeting you and you were the perfect guests. I know what you mean, the lake is a "hike" - I think of it as having a free gym membership. Jim is nearly done constructing the middle set of steps so very soon the walk will be mostly all on stairs. Ours isn't even the highest of elevations - we met some folks who rented a home close to Ithaca and they had 300 steps to the lake! So glad you had a wonderful time and we are looking forward to your return visit. Jim and Cheryl

A Perfect Getaway Weekend

  • 5 of 5

My Husband and I stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday and have a kid-free getaway...it was perfect!!! Jim and Cheryl are the nicest people and greeted us with such a warm welcome when we arrived. This was our first time to Cayuga Lake and Cheryl was super helpful in recommending things to do and places to eat prior to our arrival.

The cabin is amazing, they have built a beautiful little piece of heaven!! It is very comfortable and well appointed with anything you could need. The Kitchen is well stocked with cook wear, bakeware, grilling supplies, serving wear and utensils. Our favorite part of the cabin was the outdoor fire pit, which we sat around every night having a nice time with our cabin neighbors. It's a great set-up with lots of chairs and they provide firewood.

Cheryl and Jim also have a transportation company called CLC Tours and the highlight of our trip was a winery tour led by Jim. He put together an itinerary that was fantastic!! We went to 5 wineries, stopped off at Busy Bee for Lunch and even got to see the waterfall at Taughannock Falls State Park, which was breathtaking. They also offer light snacks and water on the van which is a nice touch!

On our last morning we finally got to take advantage of the lake and took the Kayaks out for a spin. It is a steep walk down to the lake but I didn't find it to be an issue, it helped me to burn off the S'mores from the night before :-) The area they have down by the lake is really nice with a covered pavilion that had tables and chairs and a nice dock that goes out to the water. It truly is such a beautiful view!

We had such a wonderful time at Cayuga Lake Cabins and my only complaint is that we didn't have more time to stay! We look forward to coming back to enjoy this little piece of heaven. Many thanks again Jim and Cheryl, we look forward to seeing you soon!!

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

We just got home from our stay a few hours ago and we still have smiles on our faces! Everything about this cabin was top notch - the location, the amenities, and the hospitality from Cheryl and Jim! We were within minutes of 8-10 wineries and right across the street from wonderful lake access with a private dock, gazebo, and kayaks. These dog friendly (the best part!) cabins are private, modern, luxurious, cozy and have everything you could want or need. We are already planning our next trip and will now be Cayuga Lake Cabin regulars. See you next time!
