One Bedroom, Private Deck And Hot Tub, Woodburning Fireplace, Near Helen, Unicoi
(NOTE: COZY NOOK IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR PROPERTIES IN THE HELEN AREA, AND IS OFTEN BOOKED WEEKS IN ADVANCE. PLEASE SEE OUR RECOMMENDATIOIN ON MY ADJACENT CABIN NEAR THE END OF THIS SECTION FOR THE MOST QUALITY ALTERNATIVE IF YOU CAN'T GET INTO COZY NOOK ON YOUR DESIRED DATES.) Now Cozy Nook: Recently upgraded in several areas, the cabin is located three miles from downtown Helen, but feels like this one-bedroom rustic cabin is totally isolated. It is the perfect place for a romantic getaway with little to no possibility of unwanted visitors, traffic, or noise. Property is located in deep rhododendron forest at the very end of a private road, the highest point on the entire property, and is snuggled up to many thousands of acres of the Chattahoochee National Forest for maximum privacy. Spa area of deck is covered, and the deck is totally secure from prying eyes. A well-accommodated full bath serves the bedroom, which has a new queen mattress and a new television. A new wide-screen television (with recently upgraded cable service to include dozens more channels)and DVD player have been added to the comfortable fireplace room, and there is a generous selection of DVDs to watch. Enjoy finest relaxation and privacy, so romantic that you may not want to even leave the cabin. But remember that numerous activities abound in Unicoi State Park (fishing in numerous well-stocked area trout streams, beach, lake, boating, stunning Ana Ruby Falls farther up in national forest) and nearby Bavarian-themed Alpine Helen (great restaurants, shopping, tourist attractions, river tubing, golfing, canoeing and kayaking, horseback riding, etc). For the more adventurous, numerous walking trails are in the area, including the nearby segment of the famous Appalachian Trail, which crosses Highway 75/17 at Unicoi Gap a few miles from the cabin.
The lodging features one comfortable bedroom with queen bed (brand new mattress) and a full bath and tub/shower with convenient and safe step-in (garden tub) feature. In summer, spring, and fall, enjoy total seclusion both in the cabin and on the private deck out back, complete with roofed hot tub, and enjoy the view of the dense forest and the nearby mountains, complete with an awesome display of fall colors peaking out in October. In May the rhododendrons are in full bloom, the temperature is usually perfect, and the ambiance is almost palpable. In cooler winter months relax in front of the cozy wood burning fireplace in the great room, enjoy an occasional snowfall, and just relax with your loved one. Go out to eat at one of the fine restaurants in Helen, cook up your own fare in the well-stocked kitchen, or grill a steak on the deck's new Weber charcoal grill, which has all the needed Weber utensils. Enjoy cable television in HD and big screen in the great room, where a generous selection of quality DVDs is on hand. Bring your computer and smart phone, and you can access the internet throughout the facility by using the new WiFi just installed (access instructions provided just before your arrival). It's a little bit of heaven near a place called Helen, and you won't find a more satisfying place to call home for a short time.
Here is the recommendation I mentioned: This charming cabin is often unavailable on weekends, and is at this writing booked completely on weekends for the next six weeks. IF YOU CAN'T GET INTO COZY NOOK, PLEASE CONSIDER OUR NEXT-DOOR (BUT OUT OF SIGHT) CABIN, as an alternative (VRBO 750370, named "Seclusion"). This is a larger cabin with two bedrooms, the same hot tub and private deck (actually even more private than Cozy Nook, if that's possible), plus a brand new king bed, mattress, and box springs in the master bedroom upstairs. As in Cozy Nook, all things worn have been replaced, and it rents for about the same, with the standard rate being $115 per night for the whole two-bedroom cabin, except during major holidays and the Oktoberfest/Leaf Season period. There is more room in this cabin and we are certain it is the best alternative in the Helen area to Cozy Nook, with absolute privacy and top-notch furnishings and amenities.
NOTE: YOU CAN TAKE A VIRTUAL TOUR OF COZY NOOK BY PUSHING THE "VIDEO" TAB AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE; PULL UP VRBO.COM/750370 TO TAKE A SIMILAR VIRTUAL TOUR OF SECLUSION. About Linda Jones
I've gradually become a veteran at renting cabins, and nowadays I can usually recognize a legitimate inquiry from that of a disinterested net surfer, even before I answer a query. Basically, an interested person doesn't usually (but not always) file an inquiry; they actually look at the available information and I get a reservation request, instead of an inquiry. Over 98% of inquiries result in no booking! I can, with great accuracy now, spot a Ukrainian imposter (I've has six so far) trying to scam me, just by the nature of the inquiry and the e-mail address they use. Even before that I rented enough cabins myself that I'm acutely aware of what the discriminating cabin renter is seeking. This knowledge has been my guide as I have sought to find the deficiencies, learn the desires and wants of guests, and implement the most effective measures to supply those needs. I am a native Georgian, and both my husband and I grew up in the mountains of northern Georgia. I have a college degree in English, and I taught high school English for several years, including while my husband was serving his one-year tour in Vietnam. We have been married for 54 years, and despite our advancing age we are in good health so far and we frequently like to get away from duties with the grandchildren (we have 5), and just be alone together. Cozy Nook has met that need on numerous occasions, even before I purchased it. We loved the cabin so much that we offered to buy it from the previous owner, and to our surprise it was available for purchase, along with its charming sister property, Seclusion, which is a two-bedroom facility, every bit as isolated and charming as Cozy Nook, and just a short walk down the private road from Cozy Nook. I am very pleased to offer this property for rent, because I know you will love it as much as we have, and will want to return again and again. Again I emphasize: IF THE DATES YOU WANT AT COZY NOOK ARE BOOKED, TRY SECLUSION (VRBO #750370) AND SEE WHAT IT OFFERS!
Linda Jones purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Linda Jones chose Helen
It's all about seclusion. We have rented cabins all over the mountains of North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, as well as places like Aspen and Vail, Colorado, and other ski areas of the Rocky Mountain West and beyond. One of our favorite destinations was Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but every time we rented a cabin there it turned out to be a conglomeration of cabins crowded into a very small piece of real estate, so you were literally looking at the decks and hot tub areas of the neighbors all the time, and they likewise had a good view of you. When we found Cozy Nook, we never left it. We haven't rented another cabin since we discovered this jewel. Now we know why (and have contributed to) an awesome 80+ five-star reviews accumulated by the previous owner, with only one four-star review, so far as we could find, and the cabin is approaching that number since I purchased it. It snuggles up against thousands of acres of the vast Chattahoochee National Forest, is located at the end of a private road (no trespassing!), and the only visitor you're likely to see is an occasional curious black bear (totally harmless). Once you experience Cozy Nook, you'll come back again and again, because there's nothing better as a couple's getaway anywhere. And I've experienced accommodations in more than fifty countries. I REPEAT AGAIN, COZY IS OFTEN BOOKED, BUT SECLUSION NEXT DOOR (WITH TWO BEDROOMS) RENTS MUCH LESS CONSISTENTLY. AND EVEN IF YOU ONLY NEED ONE BEDROOM, WE RENT SECLUSION FOR VERY PRACTICALLY THE SAME AS COZY NOOK'S PRICE. AND THIS PROPERTY CURRENTLY HAS MORE THAN FORTY 5-STAR REVIEWS (COMPARED TO COZY'S 80 AS OF THIS WRITING). CHECK IT OUT!
What makes this Cabin unique
As I said earlier, privacy and absence of prying eyes is the main benefit of Cozy Nook. Anyone can put together enough lumber, shingles, paneling, plumbing, wiring, and furnishings to make "a" cabin; the Cozy Nook difference is that it truly lives up to its billing as isolated and private. You are free to be totally yourself at Cozy Nook, and you'll love it! This charming cabin is often unavailable on weekends, so we offer the next door property, which we also own, as an alternative (vrbo 750370, named "Seclusion"). This is a larger cabin with two bedrooms, the same hot tub and private deck (actually even more private than Cozy Nook, if that's possible), plus a brand new king bed, mattress, and box springs in the master bedroom upstairs. It rents for about the same, if you include the slightly higher cleaning fee. Consider it if you can't get into Cozy. It may be an even better alternative.

Quiet and private
Very quiet and private. Located at the end of the road. Virtually everything you could need...pots, pans, dinnerware, utensils, etc. Just bring your food and drink. There is a built in ice maker. The bed was a little soft for our liking. Be careful on the ramp leading to the front door...steep...more noticeable going down. All in all an enjoyable wknd. Would book again...maybe during warmer months when it's tubing weather!
Enjoyed our two night stay at Cozy Nook. We found staying at Cozy Nook to be quiet, relaxing, and convenient to Helen and the hiking trails in the area. Liked the open kitchen and living room along with the large deck. Would definitely stay here again.
Everything was as described. The cabin was well kept, clean, and cozy.
The property was nice and very clean
Great Cabin! Exactly what we were looking for.
Not Secluded but Nice
Let me first say, Linda was great to work with on communicating information about the cabin. I had everything I needed for when I arrived in Helen. The cabin is well taken care of inside and out. The hot tub was very nice to relax in. The bed was comfortable.
What irked me though, was the description of this place really leads one to believe you will be staying in a cabin that is actually secluded. That's absolutely not the case. In reality, this is more like a cabin park. You pass several other cabins in the "park" leading up to cozy nook. The nearest cabin is approximately 30-40 yards from cozy nook, separated by only a few trees. In the winter when leaves have fallen, you do NOT have total privacy. We sat on the back deck and could easily see guests from another cabin. Cozy nook is part of Tanglewood Cabin rentals.
Another annoyance is the absurd checkout instructions. There's literally a page long list of things you must do in order to get your deposit back. Maybe it's just us but when you're trying to have a relaxing weekend, the last thing you want to do is house chores to end the weekend, before returning home to house chores. It felt obvious the owner was more interested in preparing the cabin for the next money coming in rather than ensuring guests enjoyed their stay.
The 2 star review is based on two things. An inaccurate description of the cabin being secluded from other guests/cabins and the page long exit chores. As long as you are aware of those two things prior to booking, you'd probably enjoyed your stay otherwise. I'm not a Helen regular, I can't compare this to others, but at this point I would not recommend to a couple wanting to escape the world to a secluded cabin.
I'm so sorry this guest was dissatisfied, but I must respectfully disagree with several points that were made. First, it is true that the cabin is in a development; I'm not aware of any rental cabin (there may be some, I'm just not aware of them) that isn't in some kind of development. Cozy Nook is NOT a part of Tanglewood Rentals; it's privately owned and only rents through VRBO, as does the next cabin down the hill, which is over fifty yards away and almost invisible even in winter. With leaves on the trees it's totally secluded at Cozy Nook, with nothing beyond it except the Chattahoochee National Forest. The cabin visible 200 yards away across a deep valley is discussed in the video description of Cozy. It disappears completely as the leaves come out. Very effective privacy screening has been added to Cozy to assure maximum privacy even when the leaves are off. Watch the video to decide Cozy's privacy level.
The checkout instructions are provided to the guest a week or so before their arrival. There is plenty of time to cancel if bagging your trash, stripping the bed linens, and washing any dishes you've used is too much work for one to do. This keeps the cost down for all guests, as paying the cleaning crew to do these tasks would be passed on to guests. Had this guest simply cancelled, I've never failed to give back all that's been paid, even if I could and even if there isn't ample time to rent the cabin again. For a more accurate picture of Cozy Nook, look at (1) the 82 other posted reviews, of which 75 are 5-star and 7 are 4-star; (2) the fact that this is the first review below 4-star I've ever received on either of my two cabins; (3) Cozy Nook is probably the most popular cabin in the Helen area, with over 200 straight weekends without failing to rent; and (4) watch the Cozy video.
This is a very discouraging review, as I try very hard to give our guests the best. I can't help it if the leaves fall off and the whole forest becomes more visible, but nobody else has ever complained about a lack of privacy. Ever since Adam and Eve, leaves have been the very best privacy material. and I'm sorry this guest wasn't there in late spring, summer, or fall. I believe the perspective would have been different. I think the small tasks the guest is asked to do on checking out would have become a non-issue. Still, nobody else has complained about any lack of privacy at any time of year, nor has anyone complained that the checkout tasks are too much to ask.
Three miles from downtown Alpine Helen, but feels like this one-bedroom rustic cabin is totally isolated, the perfect place for a romantic getaway with little to no possibility of unwanted visitors, traffic, or noise. Property is located in deep rhododendron forest at the very end of private road, the highest point on the entire property, and is snuggled up to many thousands of acres of national forest for maximum privacy. Spa area of deck is covered, deck totally secure from prying eyes. A well-accommodated full bath serves the bedroom, which has a new queen mattress and new linens, plus a brand new television and 65-channel cable television service. Enjoy finest relaxation and privacy, so romantic that you may not want to even leave the cabin. But remember that numerous activities abound in Unicoi State Park (fishing in numerous well-stocked area trout streams, beach, lake, boating, stunning Ana Ruby Falls farther up in Chattahoochee National Forest) and nearby Bavarian-themed Alpine Helen (great restaurants, shopping, tourist attractions, river tubing, golfing, canoeing and kayaking, horseback riding, etc). This is a larger cabin with two bedrooms, the same hot tub and private deck (actually even more private than Cozy Nook, if that's possible), plus a brand new king bed, mattress, and box springs in the master bedroom upstairs. It rents for only $115 per night most of the time, except during high occupancy periods such as Oktoberfest, when the price goes up a bit. Consider it if you can't get into Cozy Nook, which has developed a reputation as the consummate lover's cabin in the Helen GA area. Seclusion may be an even better alternative, it's just as clean, perhaps even more private, and it's got an impressive array of 5-star reviews. Additional information about rental rates
Rental rate $125 per night for the whole cabin September 15-November 13, when Helen is abuzz with Oktoberfest activities and the gorgeous mountains are aflame with color from autumn leaves. All other fees and terms remain the same(except the 15% tax will calculate slightly higher during this time, of course). All bookings must pay a one-time cleaning fee of $85, nonrefundable. This is for both cleaning the cabin and draining and refreshing the hot tub by a certified spa specialist. Minimum booking time for major holidays and the fall special season goes up to three nights, and very occasionally to four nights, depending on what day of the week a holiday falls. All other fees and terms remain the same during all these times (except fall's higher daily rate generates a higher tax, of course). The second half of the cleaning fee and all of the $200 deposit are both due with the second payment. The damage deposit is always refunded within two weeks, usually much sooner if there is unquestionably no damage to the facility. Special minimum 3-night bookings apply during certain holiday times (The September-November Leaf Season/Oktoberfest, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, Valentine's Day Feb. 12-15, 2016, many Federal "Monday off" holiday weekends--see "Rates" section for complete details). The daily and weekly rate is the same during these special times, except for the fall rate--for all other dates the only change is the required number of nights goes from two to three).
