Will be coming back!

We loved this chalet! The pictures do not do it justice! The hot tub was huge, the upstairs was adorable and the red heater was spectacular! They provide a packnplay which was perfect because we forgot ours. The communication was above and beyond. We will be coming back next year for sure!

Beautiful chalet

We were glad to be away from the Hustle and bustle of Helen at times. Our communications with Steve was spot on. We do believe some of the foliage was overgrown, maybe it is manicured and trimmed back in the spring. The beds were comfortable and it was a pleasant experience

Wonderful Retreat

Cute, quaint little cabin in the woods. With everything you need for a relaxing retreat in the woods with all the comforts of home. Steve is a friendly host, and was quick to respond to accommodate all our needs. We had a comfortable stay, and the hot tub is great after a long day of hiking. Just keep in mind the cabin is a bit off the beaten path so if you're more of a city slicker be advised. But makes for quiet and peaceful get away from reality. Definitely would stay again!

The cabin was great, was amazingly secluded, but within easy driving distance of Helen

The room sizes and layout was wonderful. Owners were a joy to deal with and we are had a great weekend stay. Only two complaints were the automatic lighting mechanism on the grill didn't work and the internet service was slow. But, we should have thought to bring matches, and who would expect fast internet service on the edge of a national forest. We had a great time and would definitely return! Thanks for a wonderful stay!!!

Fantastic home in a great location

We stayed at the Mount Laurel Chalet for 10 days in July 2023. We came to Georgia to hike in the Chattahoochee National Forest and surrounding areas. This home location was ideal for the hiking we had planned. The town of Helen is very close. If you enjoy spending time in a tourist location this is the town. We shopped at Betty’s and ate at the house most of our trip. However, Helen offers many restaurants/bars, there’s tubing in the town as well as other activities. Overall, this was an ideal home for us and we loved the hot tub after a long day of hiking!

Great visit

The cabin was very comfortable. The owner adds in little things like dishwashing soap, laundry detergent, garbage bags...nice touch. It's close to most things except a decent grocery store so recommend stopping on your way into town. The activities that surround the area are all family friendly...hiking, tubing, zip lining, etc. All fun stuff! The owner was very friendly & easy to work with. We ended up wanting to stay an extra day, didn't want to leave!

Beautiful and rejuvenating vacation spot

From the absolutely gorgeous view, the relaxing and comfortable chalet, to the perks of being close to several natural attractions and the adorable town of Helen, GA, I can not recommend this place enough. Anna Ruby Falls and Unicoi Lake are within 10 minutes driving distance and a must see for rejuvenation and inspiration. I highly suggest going to check out Helen's German artisan shops, but the most important suggestion I can make is just to wake up with a cup of coffee on the balcony upstairs and soak in the wonderful forest sounds. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Nice cabin for our family of 5

This is a beautiful cabin has everything you may need for your stay. We had two adults and three teenagers and there was plenty of room. It is located century to hiking,Helen, and Ruby falls. If I had to suggest anything it would be probably to upgrade the TVs and maybe put a TV in the two spare bedrooms there is a TV in the master bedroom but not the other two bedrooms not that this was a big problem at all (except for my 16 18 year old lol) the property manager Steve was super easy to communicate with and even though we really didn't have any problems I felt very comfortable if we did he would have took care of it pretty quickly.

Pictures don't do it justice

The pictures on vrbo made the home seem smaller than it really is. Coming up the driveway to the home took our breath away. The stairs to the front door was hard for my 83 year old mom. But even she could not stop raving over how wonderful the home was. The whole house is bigger than we thought it would be, very well equipped, and the hot tub was the perfect way to end the day after the wedding and reception we attended this weekend. The beds were comfortable and the whole hose cozy. Wish we had more time to just hang out there to relax.

Amy C., Where do you live?

Off the beaten path but close to it all!

My husband, 4 year old son and I LOVED it here. The house was a great value, it was less expensive then staying at the Hampton Inn or Country Inn and Suites in Helen since we stayed mid week and got our 4th night free! The house is deep in the woods, our GPS got us there with no problem and you can't see any neighbors. When you step outside all you can hear are the sounds of the forest. The kitchen has all you need to prepare meals, the washer and dryer make it easy to pack light. During our stay we hiked to Anna Ruby Falls, canoed and swam at Unicoi State Park, Tubed the Hooch and spent time in downtown Helen. Unfortunately we were not overly impressed with any of the restaurants where we ate. There were some very minor maintenance issues but Steve, the owner, addressed them right away. I would recommend this place!

Chalet in the Woods

We are 4 seasoned citizens who found the chalet/cabin roomy, cozy and comfortable for a 4 night stay. We were disappointed not to spot any wildlife around the chalet. The stairs required to reach the front door was a challenge for one of our companions as she has COPD and a disabled knee. Also an elevated stool or platform would be helpful for children and older individuals to access the hot tub. The hot tub was fabulous...hate anyone to miss experiencing it. Having a kitchen so fully equipped was a plus. We appreciated the starter coffee and paper products our first morning. This allowed us to wait until the next day to shop. Everything was clean and in working order. The additional balconies are wonderful to welcome the morning on. The pictures do represent it accurately! Note: The owner promptly responded to all email questions. Steve even sent us a great guide to the area restaurants and attractions. Would definitely rent again.

10 Acres? Where?

We arrived late Friday night. Upon arrival we noticed no one had swept the massive amount of leaves. With it being dark and wet, we definitely could have fallen very easily. My husband spent Saturday morning sweeping the deck, stairs, and hot tub area. We were expecting a very quiet, weekend. While we did get that, we also had neighbors we could hear. Very clearly. With the listing advertising 10+ acres we were absolutely not expecting that. We unfortunately could not figure out how to turn the heat on downstairs. It was pretty chilly in the mornings. The fireplace was absolutely needed & they supplied wood. The TV in the living room has been updated since the last pictures. This did not affect us, however, there is no TV in the two bedrooms on the main floor. Only the master. The master bed was decently comfortable. The house was moderately cleaned. I would definitely suggest looking everywhere when cleaning. We found someone’s entire retainer under the bed….. We did not need them, but as a parent I was extremely thankful to see they had a high chair, a booster seat, kids books, kids movies, a few games, and even a pack n play! Definitely some hidden bonuses! The drive in to the cabin is gorgeous. Definitely in fall, the leaves are changing and it’s beautiful. Overall the stay was okay. I would not book here again though.

Amazing Stay!

This chalet was better than we could have imagined. The location is ideal. It is absolutely beautiful. It is rustic, but not too rustic, for a girl who loves the Westin Brand of accommodations. I was looking for a rustic experience, with relaxing vacation amenities. I was pleasantly surprised. This vacation house exceeded my expectations. The fireplace was great. I would suggest that you bring "Fat-lighter" wood to start it. The wood outside seems a little wet in the fall. The Hot tub was a treat. We enjoyed it every night with a glass of wine. The temperature was set at like 93 degrees. So if you like it hot, I would suggest you set it to at least 100 degrees upon your arrival. This way, its ready for you at all times. It was extremely relaxing to snuggle next to the cozy fireplace, then go outside in the chilly fall nights and soak in the hot tub. The kitchen is nice. Very basic. But that's to be expected. It was perfect for my honey to cook for me everyday that we were there. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed it ;) Helen was only about 5-10 minutes away. The location is ideal. The owner Steve was amazing. He is super friendly and accommodating. Things to do: ZipnTime-Ziplining was a ball Anna Ruby Falls was absolutely Stunning Brasstown Bald was beautiful. We could see the Atlanta Skyline. Big Daddy's restaurant behind Best Western in Helen was the best hot wings that I've ever had in my life. Perfect Place for a romantic retreat or family vacation.

About the host

Hosted by Steve

Host profile image
We live in a fun but busy urban environment. We need the solitude of nature in the North Georgia mountains to recharge our souls from time to time. Hiking, tubing on the 'Hooch', biking, and relaxing are among our favorite mountain activities. As our guests, we hope that you, too, will enjoy all the benefits of our treasured mountain home!

We would like to extend a very warm 'welcome' to all of our guests! We enjoy sharing the privacy and solitude of our mountain home with our friends and family. It's a great place to entertain or to relax!

Why they chose this property

Our home site was chosen because of its peaceful wooded setting and its close proximity to the Alpine village of Helen. It offers the best of both worlds: the serenity of a private mountain home on 10+ acres of land and the nearby activities, shops, and restaurants in Helen. You can retreat from the world or you can go into Helen and enjoy all the festivities...it's your choice!

What makes this property unique

From curling up by the fireplace to relaxing in the Hot Tub, it's a wonderful place to retreat from the daily hustle and bustle of work and life. We enjoy the spaciousness of the home, especially while relaxing in the Great Room or in the sitting area of the upstairs Loft overlooking the Great Room below.

Another favorite: sitting and drinking coffee on the covered balcony of the Master Bedroom Suite upstairs...so private and peaceful!

The two skylights over the king sized bed in the Master Bedroom Suite offer a nice view of the stars in the mountain skies, especially on clear or colder days. Nights with a full moon are a special treat!
