Great little retreat
We had a great time...easy drive/directions...loved the brook on the property...was very serene. place had everything we could need...they had some cereal, milk and oj for us. Very cute cottage and for the space, had plenty of room for multiple people to stay/sleep. A bonus that my dogs (a first for us due to one being elderly) were able to come as well.
Thanks for choosing our home for your stay!
Absolutely the Best!! 😁
From the moment we saw the cottage, we were thrilled. There was an almost instant calm and relaxing feel. Even my 2 toy poodles were so relaxed that I took them off their leashes and they were completely content to stay in the yard, especially my one dog that is prone to running off when given the chance. It was like Home but even better. The Mountain view was spectacular and being on a working cattle farm. Several calf's were born while we were there and one was named after one of my sons. We plan to return asap and hopefully for a longer stay. Everyone should put this delightful cottage on their “wishlist” for places to stay.
perfect for our visit
Great place to go.
We enjoyed every thing. The beds were comfy. I really liked the decor. Lots of new ideas.
The home was adorable! We were greeted by the sweetest kitty “Goldie”. She lives outside but loves to visit with the new comers. The house has been redone in a cottage motif. It was very homey and comfortable. We had everything they said we would have on the site including milk, orange juice and plenty of coffee and tea. The best part of our experience was with the Vaughn’s themselves. Because they own Buffalo Mountain Cattle Co. we were able to be cow hands for a couple of days and that was an amazing experience. You didn’t have to help them but my daughter and I wanted too. It was very relaxing there so if that’s your thing you’d be at the right place. We were also close to Floyd for shopping and the Blue Ridge Parkway for any other adventures you might want to have. We are definitely going back soon!! The Vaughn’s are a wonderful family!

About Pat Vaughn
We purchased the home and farm from family in 2003. Since that time we have spent most of our efforts on the farm, rebuilding fences, building barns, etc. In 2015 the time came to remodel the cottage. What fun and treasures we found. The headboard in 'Hidden Quiet', on of the upstairs bedrooms, was the original door between the living room and the kitchen. The platters on the wall in the dining area were old trays found in the attic. You'll even find two of the old windows from the house that are now beautiful works of art, thanks to our friend Cappy Spangler. We tried to reuse as much of the furniture as we could. So, with a little elbow grease, paint and fabric, we are pleased with the results. Overall the restoration was a journey back through Garver and Minnie's lives. A gift we will always treasure.

Why Pat Vaughn chose Willis
Est. 2015 -- Welcome to Buffalo Mountain Getaway, a vacation cottage nestled near the Buffalo Mountain in Floyd County, VA. Stay in our beautifully decorated cottage and enjoy a little taste of the country. Situated on a real working beef farm, you're most likely to have a few of our residents checking you out as well. We operate the Buffalo Mountain Cattle Company, specializing in Chiangus Beef. Our farm is home to our cow-calf operation and was the original home place of Garver and Minnie Vaughn, grandparents to owner, Bradley Vaughn. Bradley farms full time, taking care of more than 600 acres of land and 85 breed cows. Most of the cows have names and though they are born to breed, they are also family. A few of our favorites include Minnie, Socks, Spot, America and of course Ms. Hazel, named after Bradley's mother. We have 4 bulls, all of Chiangus Purebred stock. Danicus, Bolagrius, Leonitus and Fletcher live a life of leisure and are fairly calm. They can be a little cantankerous during breeding, but for the most part are gentle giants.
