You and your friends and family will adore this classic hand-hewn, square-log cabin. The 4 bedroom and 3 bathroom cabin was built in the old Finnish tradition on a very private stretch of Lake Superior shore, ine. The long, winding driveway leads to 5 acres of land that you can roam. Search for and find the abundant wildflowers in the woods or relax on the shelf-rock shoreline. The screen porch makes for the perfect morning coffee atmosphere, too. This home truly holds the character of what one envisions a historic Lake Superior cabin to be. Many family memories have been created here! The owners, who live out of the country and can't visit very often, encourage renters to enjoy their beloved Finn House. Pets are allowed with prior approval.

Wonderful location on the lake's edge. Beautiful smooth rock shore with a peninsula just perfect for watching the Milky Way and the sunrise and roasting marshmellows. Old log cabin with indoor plumbing and all the comforts. Fireplace works perfectly, beds are comfortable. No negatives. Simply lovely.
Setting on the rocks was absolutely gorgeous. Cottage accommodated us well with spaces and bathrooms.
Furnishings are older but very comfortable. Sitting areas in living room with big windows to the lake were super nice. We loved that.
There have been mice visiting and evidence in kitchen drawers. More paper towels would be great. The toilet in the first bath is very slow to fill, but we dealt with it and shared other bathrooms. Otherwise, the property is well managed and a truly delightful setting.
It was like coming home (full disclosure, I own the cabin). Everything was in perfect shape and beautifully maintained, Linda and Christine are doing a wonderful job between them.
Gorgeous view and fireplace
The cabin has great space, loved the great room and fireplace.
Great place for a family with incredible views!
We had 3 couples, 2 kids and a dog and had plenty of room for everyone. The furnishings are a little shabby chic, but comfortable & the view makes up for it. We were staying during what will probably be the coldest time of the year & loved the fireplace! The bathroom off the large bedroom was quite cold but we managed. We've stayed on the north shore many times and never had a view like Finn House has! You are maybe 40 yds. from the water. Sunrises, sunsets and a full moon were spectacular. All of us spent a lot of time just looking out the front windows. The kitchen was a little difficult to work in with more than 2 people in there. If we have one complaint, it's the foot high by 3 ft. length cement block coming out of the chimney where a wood stove used to sit in the kitchen. It is the same color as the floor and if you're in a hurry you could definitely trip. A couple people almost did and another one had quite a fall, ending with a black eye and a fair amount of other bruising. No alcohol was involved as it was 11:30 a.m. I strongly encourage the owners to paint a bright yellow stripe around it as people do with dangerous steps or just remove the hazard. In spite of the injury, the entire family wants to come back to Finn House and will definitely book another stay. Hope to see the hazard taken care of then.
Although we are happy that you found the Finn House to be charming in so many ways we are absolutely concerned about the fall/injury!! That is awful and we hope that whomever it was that fell is okay. Never before, in all these years, have we received a comment or feedback about that and we appreciate you telling us about it. Thank you for staying and for your input. It's appreciated.
Beautiful, Rustic cabin
We Stayed over Christmas. It was incredibly cold, but the house stayed warm. We had plenty of wood for the fireplace. The beds were very comfortable. Greta location, right across from cross country ski trail and close to towns of Tofte and Lutsen. Amazing views from the 2 large picture windows lakeside.
Please come back and stay again. It really is a special place on Lake Superior and we're so happy that you enjoyed yourselves.
