About Brad & Kim Pickerel
This property has been in the family for over 40 years and we have converted it to rental property for others to enjoy. We live 2 hours away in Georgia and use the property a few times a year to escape the rat race of metro Atlanta. My father purchased the property in the 1970's, started a real estate company, and lived in Cashiers for 45 years. He is now retired to SC and are we are part owners of the property. The original house burned down in 2005; we kept the land and converted the remaining detached garage into a loft cabin in 2010. We plan to keep the property in the family name for years to come.
Brad & Kim Pickerel purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Brad & Kim Pickerel chose Glenville
My father wanted acreage with privacy/big view but close to Cashiers for work and golf.
What makes this Cabin unique
Spectacular, sweeping long-range views, 3-acre knob with level lot. Very private, no other homes in site. All the comforts of home in a setting of natural beauty unlike any other. The yurt was added years later as second bedroom studio after the original cabin was built. The yurt was chosen as something unique to the outdoor experience. This "living in the round" unit is world class manufacturing with high quality durability and designed to withstand the harshest environments by RAINIERYURTS in Washington State. Structural safety, tension cables, foundation, roof fabric, wind (withstand 95 to 105 m.p.h), snow loads, fallen trees, animal attacks, protection from the elements, fire, mold & mildew, radiant heat barrier insulation for walls and environmental friendly were the main components in design.

A little piece of peace on the mountaintop .
We recently stayed at the Rovers Retreat and it was wonderful. The lot was perfect and had fantastic unobstructed views. The Cabin was updated and very clean inside. The Yurt was also special. It was very modern and clean. Just remember to get the heat turned on ahead of time so as to be warm at bedtime...:). Once warmed up it was fabulous. We would recommend to couples or small families to stay. We had one small issue with a breaker but the Pickerel's quickly responded and the issue was resolved with in minutes. We would like to return next summer. Very tranquil and perfect retreat to wind down from life's busy schedule
Perfect cabin in a beautiful location
We will be back!
Our second stay at this wonderful cabin is in the books. We had a great time even though it was a monsoon in the mountains! Kim and Brad were so thoughtful to check by email on how we were doing with the rain. Beautiful views in a character cabin!
Great place. Very comfortable. Great view. Highly recommend.
Great home and location
We will return
A wonderfull Vacation!
Our time spent at Rovers Retreat could not have been better! The house and yurt cabin are very comfortable and well stocked by the property owners. The view and the mountain air made this vacation the perfect getaway from the heat and crowds of the Atlanta area that we live in and I did NOT want to leave! The visits by deer and wild turkeys in the meadow area were a delight as were our strolls with our dogs at the nearby Christmas tree farm. Cashiers and Highlands are true mountain jewels and are very convenient to this property. We will be back
