Waterfront - Gorgeous Shingle Style Island Summer Home; 180 degree water view
About John H.Williams
I am an Architect. With the family's help, we designed and built this Cottage using the experiences that we have had in sailing the Maine waters and observing the many historic structures along the Maine coast.
John H.Williams purchased this Cottage in 1987
Why John H.Williams chose Vinalhaven
As the property has a waterfront location, but is placed high on a hill, you can enjoy all of the pleasures of a salt water location. Birds of all types from Merganser ducks to Bald Eagles. Animals that are nearly tame. A view of the tidal changes to Crockett;s Cove, along with many of the other features that Nature has to offer. Sunrises, fog, clear days and cool nights.
What makes this Cottage unique
A location that is quiet, secluded, but close to North Haven Island by a short boat ride across the Fox Island Thoroughfare. The village, Carvers Harbor, at the south end of Vinalhaven Island, is a pleasant drive from the Cottage. Within a short walk are the many trails and Land Trust properties that offer enjoyable walking experiences.

Stunning views, gorgeous house, well-equipped
We had a wonderful visit on Vinalhaven staying at this gorgeous shingle style house. Plenty of room for all of us, very clean and tons of character (the granite fireplace is simply stunning). We loved just sitting out on the porch enjoying the view, making scones and lobster dinners in the oversized kitchen) and exploring the paths on the point! Thank you for sharing your lovely home.
Fabulous Maine Experience
Summer 2017 will be our third visit to Bowsprit Point. The setting of this quintessential Maine property could not be more ideal. The homeowner was very responsive to questions or needs and we can't wait to spend another week in this idyllic spot!
The Vinalhaven Land Trust controls a great deal of property on the island. The have created many interesting trails that offer a variety of experiences. Many of these areas are close by to the Cottage.
