"Kuku's Nest" is a beautiful tropical home not just another rental. This condo is a large, remodeled, one bedroom (best suited for sleeping 2 guests, but can accommodate 1-2 extra persons for short stays using the sleeper sofa located in the living room), ground floor unit, with full kitchen, bamboo floors, stainless appliances, fresh tropical colors, granite counters, new furnishings, two flat screen TVs, quality firm California king bed, lazy boy sleeper sofa, and free wifi. The condo has a beautiful new tile and stone shower. Other recent upgrades include the doors throughout, kitchen cabinetry, and installation of a full size range. This cottage includes an actual dining area, rather than the bar seating common to other units in the complex. With the ceiling fans and coastal breezes, the air conditioning is rarely needed. Enjoy your morning coffee watching the sunrise on the lanai accessed from the living and bedroom. The lanais overlook a coconut grove tropical garden, and one of three property pools.

Plantation Hale consistently brings in great reviews for one of the best places on the island to stay. Property amenities include whirlpool spas, barbecues, clean convenient laundry facilities, and open air lobby with a small library and computer area. Kuku’s Nest is in the “H” building, near a short walking path to tranquil Waipouli Beach. Accessible parking is located right outside your condo cottage and the ground floor location makes this cottage convenient for those with walking or mobility limitations.

Kuku's Nest is nestled in the home of Ancient Hawaiian Royalty. Located in Wailua on Kauai’s Coconut Coast it is a short walk to many area beaches, shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The newly completed coastal walking / biking path provides the opportunity to keep your vehicle parked, or within a 5 minute drive you can kayak or stand-up paddle the Wailua River, hike Sleeping Giant, visit several of the island’s best waterfalls, enjoy Smith’s Tropical Paradise luau & gardens, snorkel or swim at Lydgate's tide pools, and much more. Wailua is half way between the jungles of the North Shore and the nearly always sunny Southern Coast making a perfect base for exploring.


The Coconut Coast has always been what we consider the best place on the island to serve as a home away from home. It is half way from the North and South shores, and has a good combination of local 'real Hawaiian' life as well as vacation 'destination spots'. Kapaa Town is our favorite area for shopping , restaurants, walking and biking. It has the convenience of having grocery stores, farmer's market, banks and a post office in the immediate area The complex sits along the ocean (Makai) side of the road and is an easy walk to the Coconut Marketplace, restaurants (Hukilau Lanai, Kilauea Fish Market, Lava Lava Beach Club) as well as two grocery stores, two coffee shops (yes, including Starbucks;), and many activities. These units always get great reviews from travelers and we have been very impressed with the management and maintenance staff.

Was really pleased with the condo, especially since I had friends staying in the neighboring unit, who's unit were much more basic than Kuku's Nest. Really enjoyed the access to the pool from the back yard and the other pools weren't far away either. Parking was a breeze and I usually walked to other friends staying in neighboring properties...

just spent 12 nights in this Condo and it was the best of the six different condos I have stayed in on the East-side. It had everything you needed to feel at home and the staff were all friendly and helpful and I would recommend this place to anyone who is reading this. The location is perfect and is walking distance to many places to eat and buy groceries which was great. This will be the first place I will try to book the next time I come back to Kauai.

Hello - We are Tom Morse and Terri Smith-Morse. We have been married for over 20 years and share our California home with our adopted shelter dog (AnnMarie), our yellow collared macaw (Valentino), our African Grey Parrot (Cass) and our dessert tortoise (T-Bone). We enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including outrigger canoeing, walking and biking. Kauai is the perfect second home for us. We hope you love it as much as we do.

We first fell in love with Kauai shortly ofter we were married and after hurricane Iniki ravaged this beautiful island over 20 years ago. After several visit to all of the Hawaiian islands, we knew we wanted to be a part of the beauty of Kauai . The natural beauty of Kauai along with the warmth of her people kept drawing us back. When we decided to buy a place, we knew it had to be here - the very same complex we first visited all those years ago.

What makes this condo unique

Kuku's Nest is centrally located on the island of Kauai. It is a quick 20 minute drive to the Lihue Airport and its central location makes it easy to get anywhere on the island in short order. The local beaches provide breathtaking views of the daily sunrise and Kappa Town has many opportunities for shopping and dining in a quaint small town setting.

Ending our 4 week stay at KuKu's Nest and will never forget it. We're so happy to have chosen this location. It was perfect. We'd wake up each morning, look up Kauai weather report for north, east, south and west. Then decide on plan for the day. This is how we like to roll and it worked out perfectly.

Having the pool steps from our lanai and fully supplied kitchen was very convenient.

This was our first time to Hawaii and so glad we chose Kauai. It lived up to our expectations!

Cosy, conveniently located Hawaiian condo

Pros: Convenient location, across the beach and walking distance to grocery store and 3 pools in the complex. Owners were very accommodating and responsive. Updated kitchen and washroom. Big comfy king size bed. Fully stocked kitchen

Cons: Place needs a spring cleaning, it's surface clean but needs a deep clean. (ie, rust on shower hanger, dusty decor, couple of dirty dishes in the cupboards, broken beach umbrella.) Little things for why it didn't get 5 stars, perhaps the owner hasn't been in the condo for awhile? Place needs more hooks or hangers for wet stuff from the beach.

Enjoyed the Nest....

Central location was GREAT. We hiked daily, and found wherever we went was no more than an hour away. The unit is close to an incredible bike path which was another plus. Loved riding bikes - rented from Kauai Cycle, and appreciated the ease of having a ground floor unit to store and lock them up. Enjoyed having Safeway, Farmer's Market, Imua Coffee (yum), Tropical Dream Ice Cream, Coconuts, Pho Restaurant, trinket shopping etc.within walking distance. Found the nearby traffic to be minimal, which was also appreciated. Enjoyed the hot tub which was just a short walk away. Laundry facility was closeby. The unit had everything we needed. Would go back in a heart beat.

Kuku's Nest

Simply, a great condo in a great location. The condo setting is very nice and the condo is tastefully furnished with quality fittings that reflect a feeling of Hawaii. The bed and furniture are very comfortable. Other than some highway noise, and the sound of the upstairs AC unit, the condo is quiet and relaxing after a day at the beach or touring. The weather during our stay was lovely, and other than the ceiling fans, we didn't even turn on our AC. We were very impressed!

The Condo was lovely, our review will reflect both the positives and opportunities.

The condo is situated in a perfect location to traveling both to the north and the south side of the island. The couple of close beaches in the summer would probably serve well for swimmers, and water goers.. our time there was greeted with high winds from the East, and caused rough waters, forcing us to the southern shores down in Lihue. if you just want to get into Salt Water, you can go to Lydgate, where there is a shore break swimming area with a reef wall constructed around the swim area for protections.. Also a great place for small children. Ok.. The Chickens.. a bit unnerving if you are not used to them.. I am pretty sure, they have had one plate of loco moco to many, as they are all LOCO.. they crow all hours of the day and night. Keep ear plugs handy if you want a solid nights sleep, and don't ever feed them, they will never leave.. LOL.. again, the location of the condo, very convenient to grocery stores, and restaurants in Kapaa.

Here are our thoughts on the opportunities to the Condo.. we found it a bit cluttered, the living room is fitted with 3 couches,(one a couche a sleeper) a coffee table, a tv credenza and a two chair placement dining room table, all in an area, to be honest, would serve the sleeper couch, maybe one or two small easy chairs and then a 4 chair placement for the dining room. I would also suggest, (I respect the décor, it's not mine), however, the colors are dark, and do make the rooms appear much smaller, lastly, there is a musty water smell, I believe it is directly related to the Air conditioner unit, it may not be ventilated properly, or draining adequately, it was less musty, when we did not use the A/C unit. We were there in a time of cooler temperatures. Over all, a nice unit, relatively quite area, close to one of the swimming pools, OBW.. the King Bed was very comfortable. A real positive note. We left an extra ice chest for your next visitors.

Great condo for short or long term stay

We stayed at Kuku's Nest for 4 weeks and had a great time! The house was stocked with everything we could need, from beach supplies (snorkel, towels, chairs) to kitchen necessities (tupperware and travel mugs). Terri and Tom even offered to have housekeeping come once during our stay. We also appreciated how easy it was to contact Terri and Tom and how quickly they responded to any request.

The condo was great for two people - 1 bedroom with king sized bed. We did not use the pull out sofa, so depending on the length of stay and number of people that is something to consider.

Kapaa was a great location, about the midpoint in the island so easy to travel to either the North or South side.

The condo is centrally located and within easy driving distance of two waterfalls; the lighthouse, botanical gardens; miniature golf/botanical garden; museum in Lihue,; shopping in Kapaa and Lihue; and Smith's Gardens and Luau. A little bit of a further drive and guests can visit the beautiful Waimea Valley, Poipu, Spouting Horn and quaint Koloa and Hanapepe in one direction or Hanalei Bay and Princeville the other. These are just a few of the many options for guests during their stay.

Security deposit will be returned within 14 days of the check out date provided no deductions are made due to damage to the property or furnishings; dirt or other mess requiring excessive/deep cleaning; association fines due to guest conduct; or any other unreasonable/unusual costs incurred to the homeowner due to the guest's stay.

Stays 3 weeks or longer are subject to a mid-stay cleaning provided by the owner (any deep cleaning required mid-stay will be assessed and deducted from the security deposit).

Cancellation by guest more than 30 days prior to Check-in, 50% of Total Rental (first payment) will be non-refundable.
Cancellation by guest within 30 days prior to Check-in, 100% of Total Rental will be nonrefundable.
Cancellation by owner due to property becoming unrentable (damage, change of ownership, etc.), guest will be notified as soon as reasonably possible and all payments made will be immediately refunded. Cancellation refers to any changes to booking resulting in either complete cancellation of booking or shortened stay.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
