About David Hathaway
We have been married for 46 years and lived for 13 years in New England, 20 years in Canada, and two in China before coming to Colorado in 2006. We have four children and 10 grandchildren. Our family gathers at our home for holidays and regular get- togethers. It is a home filled with wonderful memories.
David Hathaway purchased this House in 2007
Why David Hathaway chose Northwest Colorado Springs
This was our dream home because of its wonderful design, fabulous yard and especially the location in a quiet neighborhood near Garden of the Gods. We wanted a home that was also a retreat for us, our family and the many guests we entertain. The 15 foot high brick wall in the living room provided a perfect gallery for our paintings from around the world. The French doors throughout the house gave it charm and grace. The gardens, lawns, fruit trees gave us a playground for our family.
What makes this House unique
Our quiet neighborhood and proximity to the front range affords hiking, biking, or simply strolling opportunities right out your front door. We have four grandchildren that live across the street, and every weekend morning, they burst into our kitchen for "Papa waffles"! Our yard, patio and deck always provide an oasis from the sun and seclusion from neighbors because of about 30 trees on the property!

Such a nice property!
This home was in a nice area and clean! We loved using the grill and the kiddos enjoyed the toys as well! Thank you for letting us stay there!
We had an amazing vaction. The house was perfect for all our needs. Very spacious and took advantage of that wonderful deck and grill every night we were there!! Conveniently located!! Hope to someday go back for another stay!!
Very close to Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak and old town. Comfortable enough. Nice yard for relaxing.
Great family gathering home
Our family of 6 adults and 2 kids really enjoyed our stay! We especially loved having dinners on the back porch. The kids loved the toys (11 month old and 15 month old). The backyard is a bit dicey for toddlers, but would be awesome for older kids! We just stayed close to the youngins while outside. David responded quickly to all of my questions and was super nice. I look forward to returning sometime.
Charming Family Home
This house is perfect for getting the family together. We had plenty of space and everyone was comfortable. There are plenty of games and areas for the kids to play. They especially loved the hammocks. Our favorite was relaxing in the backyard and making big breakfast in the morning. The very last night we were there we were visited by the “ neighborhood bear “. It was really a neat experience and definitely one our family will not forget. Fantastic location surrounded closely by mountains!
The Garden of the Gods, less than five minutes away, is a world premier park with hiking for all levels and spectacular views. Be sure to check out the Visitor's Center at the entrance and the awesome "Trading Post" inside the park where you can get yummy Buffalo Burgers. They have an exceptional art gallery of work created by local artisans.
The Air Force Academy is less than fifteen minutes away with its famous chapel, an engaging visitors center and gift shop.
The Olympic Training Center and Olympic museum (opening in 2019) are less than twenty minutes away in downtown Colorado Springs.
We are only two hours drive to the heart of the rockies where in the summer you can white water raft and do other adventure sports, and in the winter you can ski or go for dog sled rides (Monarch Dog Sled rides, owned and operated by our son, Caleb Hathaway)
The following are all about twenty minutes away: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (awesome for kids), Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun, Red Rocks Canyon Open Space, Helen Hunt Falls, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, the Broadmoor Hotel, and Gold Camp Road (an old railroad bed converted to a dirt road that takes you to Cripple Creek)
Also only fifteen minutes away is Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs, the jumping off point for Pikes Peak, which you can drive up or hike up on the Barr Trail, if you prefer! (7,000 foot gain in elevation!) If you don't want to climb the whole mountain, take up the challenge of "the incline", a mere 2,000 foot gain in elevation, but very popular (parking is difficult). Or, simply hike the Barr Trail as far as you like, one of the most beautiful (and popular) trails in Colorado.
If you love geology, then you must visit Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, less than an hour away, and about half way to Buena Vista, in the heart of the Rockies (Presidential Range) and on the grand Arkansas River.
