In April of 2006, my wife and I and three other couples had the vaction of a lifetime, and was made even more enjoyable by our stay at Sojourn. The house is so comfortable, roomy and well equipped, we couldn't have asked for any more. The beaches so close, the waves lulling you to sleep, the fantastic views, great golf nearby, the wine country, fresh crab feast-it doesn't get any better! A special thanks to our hosts, Barry & Mary Jill, who went far and above out of their way to make this one of most memorable vactions I have ever had. I would defintely recommend Sojourn as the place to stay. I can't wait to return.

Peaceful, cozy, beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

This beach house is what you think of in a setting for a good novel. It is charming, but not cutesy, clean, comfortable, but not so done up that you are afraid to relax. The fireplace is also right out of a good book, it is large and warms the room and the soul. But, best of all the view, I had to work pretty hard on Thanksgiving to get what everyone wanted, but it was a pleasure because from the kitchen, dining room and cozy living room you can gaze upon the beautiful Pacific Ocean and breathe. It met all of our needs and then some, the hosts provided lots of towels, toys, books, movies, dishes, pots, pans, plenty of glassware. I appreciate Sojourn so much I want to go back, and soon. The combination of the care the owners took in providing a warm and welcoming space for family and friends to gather and the view was my idea of peace. I will remember this Thanksgiving forever.

Rustic and quaint.

  • 4 of 5

The beach home was rustic and quaint. It was easy to get to the beach and to restaurants. The kitchen and baths were well stocked. The beds were extremely comfortable (a must when you are away from home).

Although we had a wonderful time, there are some minor concerns.

1. Please remove the rusty shelf in the downstairs bathroom. I hit my head on it and ended up going to urgent care and hour away.

2. the first impression of the home was a disappointment due to the rusted garage door. We almost turned around and went home. I would consider doing something about that eyesore because it distracts from the quaintness of the beach home.

Owner's Response: Of course we would have appreciated knowing of the mishap when it occurred. The emergency room at the hospital in Sebastopol is the closest. We leave our contact info on the table in case its been forgotten and would have been happy to help with the situation. I would change my communication review had I known of this sooner. I'm sorry this guest was hurt, although I'm not sure how he managed it and will look further at the set up. Unfortunately the salt air at the beach is very hard on all metal. I have given up replacing some things that work in the space and do not care to add plastic. We hope to replace the garage door next year. For now we are living with it. It is functional. I hope our cozy beds made up a little for his discomfort.

We stayed at Sojourn for 3 nights and loved it! The owner has put some lovely touches in the home to make it extremely comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked (all the equipment one would need to cook a lovely meal) - and they left flowers and a bottle of wine for us to enjoy. The bedding was very comfortable. And that view? Absolutely lovely! The ocean was a short walk away - the most lovely beach ever. All in all, a great stay. The only negative was - being a beach home, it was musty - had a bit of an odor in places; and the showers were a little funky, esp the upstairs shower - but certainly usable! I recommend this place. It's in a really cute neighborhood - very beachy and a little funky and we really loved it!

Great views, responsive owners

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 4 adults and 3 kids had three wonderful days and nights at Sojourn by the Sea! The view was great! the house was well stocked! There was plenty of space to share a family meal, and for everyone to have some downtime in their own space. We loved it.
