About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 6

Slip into the beach lifestyle and leave the daily grind behind when you book your stay at this oceanfront Layton cottage. With a dock, expansive deck, and a stunning beach location, you may never want to leave.

With historic roots as the home to the 1900's author, Zane Grey, and easy access to a bevy of beach activities, your stay promises to be hassle-free. Enjoy days of fishing for tarpon at the Long Key Viaduct just a short distance from the home. This rental is part of a duplex with a second rental - book one of the rentals, or the entire duplex.

Kick off the sand and step into the cozy main living room decorated in a mixture of a fishing and beach themed style. Surf the cable channels to catch up with your favorite show, or step out on the deck to connect to the WiFi and send pictures of your view to people back home. A shared washer/dryer helps keep your packing light.

Keep the party outside with some tunes streamed on your personal device while you fire up the charcoal BBQ. The open kitchen boasts stainless steel appliances and granite counters to add a bit of elegance to your cooking experience. Dine al fresco on the patio furniture and listen to waves crash as you enjoy your meal.

When it's time for bed, this two-bedroom, one bathroom home can sleep up to six guests. In the master bedroom you'll be greeted by a king-size bed, while the second room has two twin-size beds. There is also a sofabed for more sleeping options.

With room for a 30-foot boat, the dock will harbor your watercraft so that you can play the day away on the sapphire waters just outside your front door. Cast a line to catch some mahi mahi for dinner, or paddle out to explore the area in a kayak. Kick back under an umbrella with a good book, or explore the quaint town.

No matter how you spend your time, this Florida Keys getaway will put you in a vacation state of mind!

About Vacasa of the Florida Keys

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Quiet and Cozy

 • 3 of 5

We enjoy quiet and being away from the masses of people when we go on vacation which this property provided. This is not a 5 star resort but we feel like we had a 3.5 to 4 star experience. Although you could still see the effects of the hurricane in the area this property seemed to have recover rather quickly and was not suffering from the effects. The house and property are quiet and cozy and we were fortunate enough to have good renters in the adjacent unit that did not negatively impact our stay. The beach was pretty large considering there is not a lot of beaches in the Keys we came to find out. Having a nice, fully equipped kitchen and grill on the deck made meal times a joy, convenient and affordable all while watching the beautiful sunsets. Our only complaint was the amount of seaweed which is no fault of the property but it would have been nice to have some rakes to maintain it during out stay. I would recommend this property especially for families with kids who don't want to spend a ton of money and time going out to eat. Rolling out of bed every morning and being steps from the beach was great. Throwing some food on the grill, sipping cocktails all while the kids run around on the beach was a typical day. The property had 4 large thatched roof huts and plenty of umbrellas for shade. There were 3 kayaks on the property which we used every day and also saved us a ton of money on rentals.

OK but not worth the money ...

 • 2 of 5

Several issues on our stay:

- cockroach infestation throughout the house

- disabled internet(asked vacasa for assistance but the issue was never solved and the vacasa employees didn't sound very enthusiastic to help)

- huts need good repair

- beach needs some cleaning(plastic bottles on the shore)

- not vacasa's issue but at&t cell connection always breaks up

- there is not much privacy

- beach not the best for swimming(seaweed)

Overall I can say the location and free kayaks were good, but I would not visit again or recommend it.
