About Daria Duda & Scott Morrison

Scott & Daria have been visiting the Bar Harbor area for many years and fell in the love with the area. They purchased Western Bay Shores in 2012, and another property a few miles away in 2014. They enjoy time here in the off-seasons as well. Back in Philadelphia, Scott is known for his award-winning beer, and helping new start-up breweries, while Daria works in marketing at a technology company.

Daria Duda & Scott Morrison purchased this house in 2012

Why Daria Duda & Scott Morrison chose Acadia

When Scott & Daria bought Western Bay Shores, the former owners provided a comprehensive 'book' of everything about the house - ending their description with 'It's a special place.' This statement couldn't be more true … you'll find relaxation and enjoyment here at this home - it truly is a special place and we are happy that we can have our guests enjoy this slice of Maine as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Moon rise over the water - truly awesome, especially during a full moon. And the sunrises can be spectacular.

Great house in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the house both inside and out! My kids (all teens) loved the third floor space, my dogs really enjoyed the fenced yard and easy access to the beach while the grown ups enjoyed the porch and living room inside. House was very comfortable and spacious so we could all spread out and have some room. We loved the location, close to Bar Harbor and Acadia but far enough away that you felt the quiet and solitude of the area. Everything was thought of and provided in the house that we needed. We would definitely come back here again! The only thing I would advise light sleepers is to be aware that the noise from the third floor does come down into the second floor. I put the fan that was provided on which solved the problem for me.

Another Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in three years in this wonderful home with our extended family. The home is very well maintained, very clean and the new deck makes for excellent lounge time in the evening. The fenced in yard was perfect for our French Bulldog, James Bond, and the rock beach was a favorite of our kids for treasure hunting and some chilly swimming. The proximity to Acadia is ideal as you're close to the hiking and sites, but also far enough away to enjoy the tranquility of the area.

This really is the perfect home for family gatherings and we'll be staying here again the next time we go to Acadia.

Owner's Response: Ian - thank you for taking the time to post a review and for your kind note. We were so glad to have you return, and that you and your family enjoyed your vacation and your stay at Western Bay Shores. The shore here is still my favorite with the view of the mountains in the park and the unique rocks and boulders on the shore. Scott & I really appreciate all of the comments we get from our guests. Thank you again, and enjoy the rest of your summer! Sincerely, Daria & Scott

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Daria was helpful throughout and attentive to any concerns. Also had great recommendations for local activities. We loved the books & games provided in the home. Pros: amazing view, located right on water, 2 great spots for fire pits, nice back yard, house overall well-equipped. Cons: We had a large group (8 people, different schedules), and it was easy to hear others walking/watching TV/talking. We also happened to visit during a warm week, and those staying upstairs would have appreciated A/C, especially during the day. Fans are provided for all rooms, and it's nice having windows open at night when cool outside.

Overall, a pleasant experience & great location near Acadia.

Owner's Response: Hi Ann - thank you for your review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed your vacation! We strive to keep the home well-equipped, comfortable and relaxing and guest comments and suggestions are important to us. It was a highly unusually warm week - and in this area most homes do not have AC - but glad you found the cooling fans helpful during the day. As you noted, the temperature cools off quite a bit at night for sleeping. Have a wonderful rest of your summer! Sincerely, Daria & Scott

Wonderful spot, Great hosts

  • 5 of 5

Daria and Scott have a beautiful home on an unmatched property. The house is well-built and well-kept and sits on a charming, secluded small beach. And they were just wonderful to work with - very quick to communicate and very accommodating. We so look forward to being back.

Western Bay Shores is a lovely 4-bedroom home situated on 1.5 acres with 200' of private shore on Western Bay in Trenton.

Centrally located halfway between Ellsworth and the town of Bar Harbor and less than 20 minutes from Acadia National Park, and the Hulls Cove Visitor's center. Hike and bike or enjoy the scenic Loop Road en route to Jordan Pond, Sand Beach and Thunder Hole.

The cottage features 200' of private shore - sunbathe, beachcomb, or rent kayaks or canoes (can be delivered to the house for the week). New, large deck provides plenty of room for outdoor dining and relaxing. Fenced-in yard is great for the kids and your small family dog to run around too!

Four bedrooms including 1 King Master BR with sitting area and own bath, 1 Queen, 1 bedroom with 2 full beds on the 3rd floor, and 1 bedroom with 2 twins on the first floor. First floor also features living and dining rooms, kitchen and bath with shower & laundry.

Washer/dryer, HDTVs, Cable TV, and WIFI throughout. Rainy day? No problem - choose Wii, enjoy a movie or play a board game. Like to cook? Stocked kitchen provides you the basics, cookware and utensils. BBQ Gas Grill and grill utensils, too.

The town of Ellsworth is just 15 minutes up the road with quaint shops, and restaurants. Pick up fresh, local produce at the Ellsworth Farmer's Market or visit the historic Woodlawn Museum.

Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor (11 miles) feature numerous shops, movie theater and dining (favorites by far are Cafe This Way and McKays or Side Street Cafe). Go for a boat ride and enjoy the fresh ocean air.

Attractions: Whether you have kids or not, check out Diver Ed, who launches daily excursions from the College of the Atlantic (20 minutes). It's a fantastic, must do activity. Other favorites include Pirates Cove Adventure Miniature Golf and Abbe Museum.

After your day of hiking Cadillac Mountain, biking the carriage roads or strolling through Bar Harbor, come home to Western Bay Shores - cook up your fresh lobsters by the sounds of the bay, have a campfire on the beach and relax!

At night, don't forget to look up to enjoy the moon rise over the water and unbelievable star gazing.

It's a special place.
