About Bob and Georgina Winslow

Georgina and Bob Winslow moved to Hendersonville from Texas in 2015. Georgina loves to garden, and has created a new garden adjacent to The Garden Cottage. It is still a work in progress but she is happy to be in an environment which reminds her of growing up in England. You might see her weeding, watering and planning her next project. Gardening suggestions, thoughts and ideas are always welcome! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and that you can take time to wander around and make yourself at home, enjoy the views or sit quietly on the garden bench with a book. Georgie also is a volunteer gardener for the Flat Rock Playhouse.

Bob is a website designer mainly for Christian churches and ministries. He works from home and offices in the Woodlands Cottage also located on the property. We attend, and are active at, Biltmore Church in Hendersonville.

We warmly welcome you to The Garden Cottage and would like to make your stay as enjoyable as possible! Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable.

Bob and Georgina Winslow purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Bob and Georgina Winslow chose Laurel Park

After 20 years of raising a family in the heat and humidity in Texas we wanted to move to an area where the climate is cooler and where there are many recreational opportunities. Hendersonville fulfilled all of our desires: mountains, rivers and forest trails, as well as local history, and great shopping and restaurants. So in April 2015 we moved from Houston to Hendersonville and purchased a property where we could easily accommodate visits from our three grown children and their families. When our family is not visiting, we are delighted that other people can enjoy the beauty, the views and the quiet which The Garden Cottage offers. We have loved the lush springs, glorious falls, pleasant summers and temperate winters.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Every once in a while you come across a place that feels like home, and the Garden Cottage, felt just like home. From the moment you come up the spiraling drive you, to the stone steps, and open the wooden door, with a bottle of Biltmore wine awaiting with two glasses. If this is not home, I am not sure what is....the garden and surrounding areas were cheerful, pleasant and relaxing.. having morning coffee on the top of the garden hill was superb. The natural wood finishes and well decorated interior were perfect. Our family enjoyed there time here and plan on returning. The children enjoyed chasing fire flies in the beautiful yard, while I sipped wine from the spacious overlooking terrace. The Cottage is close to all the waterfalls and trails, the Biltmore and downtown. Only a short ride. The host were as pleasant and generous as I have ever experienced, quick for suggestions, or any request. We will be back, until then, we are at our home away from "Home".

Quaint Little Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time staying in this quaint little cottage. Tastefully decorated, very comfortable bed. The living area was perfect for relaxing by the fireplace with our morning coffee or a glass of vino. Everything we needed was provided! The Laurel Park area is very nice and we enjoyed trips to Jump Off Rock, Dupont Forest, downtown Hendersonville and Asheville. Also celebrated my birthday with Easter brunch at the Omni Grove Park Inn. Thanks Bob and Georgina for a wonderful stay😊

The Garden Cottage was very whimsically and smartly decorated, nicely appointed and equipped, and quite neat and clean. The mountain view from the sun porch is delightful.

We had a wonderful time.

What a Find!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently enjoyed the delightful Garden Cottage and the excellent hospitality of the Bob and Georgina Winslow. We were there for four nights and loved every minute of it. The view is excellent, overlooking distant mountains and the nearby country club. Roads to and from the cottage were paved--easy to drive to Hendersonville and other sites. The grounds were beautiful and well-planted. Lots of nice trails and roads for hiking nearby. The interior was well decorated with a nice collection of books, antiques and comfortable new furniture plus a well-equipped kitchen. The fireplace was beautiful and took the chill out of the air as well. The charming cabin has central heat and air but I preferred the fireplace in early December. My favorite room was the very large enclosed porch. I am a painter and loved to sit out there and enjoy the view and good light. The only problem we had was we loved the cabin so much that we didn't want to leave to go sight seeing! We hope to return in the summer to enjoy the cool climate for an extended stay and enjoy the full foliage. And, maybe, in the fall for the leaves!
