Karen I want to thank you for letting us rent your beautiful cabin and making our weekend enjoyable.Itried to leave a review but for some reason the website wouldnt post it. I am going to copy and paste what I put on the review for you to see. Thanks again. Our stay couldnt have been more wonderful.Upon our arrival we met the cleaning lady and she told us that she had flip[ped five cabins that day and it would be a while before we could settle in. We asked if we could just come in and watch the UK vs Louisville basketball game since it came on at 4pm and that was also checkin time. She was so greatful to let us enjoy the game as she finished up the cabin. My wife turned 40 that weekend and we also got to spend new years in the smokies. We had so much fun staying in the cabin for those three days and there wasnt anything that we wanted for. The cabin was very roomy and updated. It had all the necessities that one could ask for.I would recommend this cabin to any one that wanted to stay in the pigeon forge area. The owner Karen was such a great help when deciding on where to stay and the payment plan worked out just great. Thanks Karen and the cleaning lady for making our weekend so enjoyable. Thanks Joe

Family of 12 spent Thanksgiving week, nice location, cabin needs a good cleaning. the roll-away beds need new mattresses desparately. Linens such as comforters need updated and washed. TV's did not work in 2 rooms. Kitchen well equipped, disappointed to pay so much and had to haul your own trash to dump. Pictures of property were accurate, owner very cooperative to work with. Nice cabin with a little updating and cleaning.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Mrs. Joan, I realize it is impossible to please 100% of all guests, but I am sorry Bear Creek Lodge (BCL) did not meet your expectations. I am truly sorry you did not call the housekeeper or myself about the disappointing issues. I forwarded your response, once I received it, to housekeeper to have TV's checked out and she turned on the red switch on the electric strip and the 48" TV came on immediately. That would have been a quick fix had we known. Granted, the small TV in the loft did not come on, it appears that maybe a button has been pressed on it to put it in sleep mode. However, I would say that 7 TV's in a cabin should provide some entertainment to old and young alike. We do pride ourselves on keeping the cabin very clean and I had the privilege to personally check it out myself within 2 hours of your check-in time and I found everything to be very clean. As far as updating the comforters, we do have the cabin look with bears, deer, etc., outdoor look, on our furnishings vs. the formal look and I suppose that is probably just a personal preference. And to clarify the hauling of trash: Sevier Co. doesn't offer residence trash pick-up. However, we never ask guests to haul off their own trash. There are bins on carport for guests to put bagged trash for houekeeping to dispose of upon the departure of guests. There are directions posted on fridge for the location of the Trash Landfill drive-thru for inquiring guests especially those staying extended days. There's a variety of other Post-Its on fridge, as well, to help our guests. Roll-a-ways, yes, I would probaby agree with you that the mattresses need to be repaced and will add that to my list of things to do. The mattresses on roll-a-ways are not very durable and though I've asked guests not to move them from floor to floor, that still happens and they still get pulled and moved on a lot meaning frequent replacement. Also, I know lodging rates, one of the biggest expenses of vacationing, are always an issue, but I did give you a rate less than what is listed on my web-site. Thank you for the kind words attesting to the fact that the pictures are accurate and the owner very cooperative to work with. I would invite you back to Bear Creek Lodge again and please give me the opportunity to make your next visit better. It is my goal to please everyone that visits Bear Creek Lodge and assure them the door is open for their next visit. Thank you for your input. Karen, Owner Bear Creek Lodge

As promised, this house was just as depicted in the pictures. The house was very clean and was well lit, day and night, and was easily accessible with enough parking for 5 cars. It accommodated comfortably our whole family, which made our weekend reunion absolutely perfect. Our young adults and teens were able to relax comfortably in the lower area by playing pool and watching sports. The whole family was able to enjoy conversations in the main living area, over a meal at a table large enough to accommodate all 17, on the front porch, and in the jacuzzi. We were able to walk in the woods and venture down to the creek. We had enough comfortable beds for every adult/teen. We brought our own PackNplay. We were able to capture group pictures with a foliage backdrop that was nothing less than perfect. The cabin is close in enough that we could easily get to Kroger. The kitchen had the needed utinsils required for us to prepare our meals. We loved the go carts at the speedway, the Zipline by the glass bridge (don't waste your money on the glass bridge). We had trouble with the wi fi initially, but with a quick call to the owner, she sent someone over to reboot the router, solving the problem. Karen was great answering questions before and after we booked. Thanks to Karen and Bear Creek Cabin for helping make our first family gathering in 30 years awesome! We highly recommend this cabin!

Owner response: Dr. Bea, So happy that you and your family found Bear Creek Lodge clean and accommodating, meeting all of you needs. Family memories are the best and reunions can be unforgettable. You noted some of my favorites of Bear Creek Lodge also: the view outback going down to the small creek. It's not flat land, but my LA grandkids love running and playing up and down the side of the mountain and the steps going down to the creek. Again, I'm glad the cabin and furnishings fit your needs and met your expectations. And, true, Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg has more to do than time available in most cases. Please bring the family and come again! Thank you for choosing Bear Creek Lodge for your lodging needs while in the Great Smokies! Karen, Owner Bear Creek Lodge

Our entire family had a wonderful time at Bear Creek Lodge! It fully met all of our expectations and more! The cabin is so easy to get to and is close to shopping. Having a large group, we ate most of our meals "at home" and were very happy with the kitchen, the grill, and the large table for dining. Thank you for all your help as we planned our trip! Bear Creek Lodge is definitely a repeat accomodation and one to share the info with friends and family.

Overall the cabin was nice it is updated with a newer stove and a newer hot tub than what is shown in the pictures. Had a bad start with not being able to turn on the hot tub the power button has to be pushed kind of hard. Of course we spent the first night and the entire second day not using it because we were not sure what was wrong. When the cleaning person showed up all he had to do was push the button in a certain area with his fingernail and wow we had the jets on... It would have been nice to know this when we first got there instead of missing out on the hot tub for almost two days of our stay. Also the tips were left off of the pool sticks so we were unable to play pool and the Wi-Fi would not allow us acces so no internet, they were fixed the second night. So I can say that if something is wrong they will try to make it right as soon as they can. Overall this is a good cabin was able to relax our last night in the hot tub and the kids played pool and walked down to the creek.

Owner response: I apologize for your rough start at Bear Creek Lodge. We do have instructions posted for operation of the hot tub, but I understand that doesn't always work with technology. It is a newer hot tub, not even 2 years old, and everything now days is computerized and can be tempermental if not operated just right. Another apology for the pool stick tips missing. Thank God, Bear Creek Lodge stays busy and with so many guests in and out, sometimes the things like pool stick tips are forgotten. Thank you though, for letting everyone know that Housekeeping did come the next day and get these annoying things working for you. I am glad you got to come to the Great Smokey Mountains and count it an honor that you chose Bear Creek Lodge for your lodging. Please come again and stay with us! Karen

For motorcyclists ony - Do not recommend staying here if you are on a motorcycle. Getting into and out of the carport is extremely challenging and there is no parking whatsoever in the street. Everything else was excellent. Karen's way of " one price " is very easy to deal with and very affordable. Had no other issues. It is better than pictures, many upgrades and very clean. We had a blast. Very relaxing. Would recommend in a heartbeat and will use again if not on two wheels:)

Other cyclists have stayed in the past and not commented in regards to parking, but I am glad to hear your input and will share it with others as well. Please remember us for your next visit, for sure, when you are not on your bikes. thx, Karen

Once again, my family and I really enjoyed our stay in your cabin. It is perfect for the extended family that is looking for a place to steal away and spend a little time together. It is spacious enough that we were all comfortable and enjoyed privacy, yet we made wonderful memories together sitting around the fireplace and dinner table at night and sipping coffee in the mornings. The cabin was spotlesssly clean and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The location is great and made our coming and going to local attractions convenient. We look forward to returning next year.

My family stayed here during October 2011. The leaves were changing, and the property was beautiful. The house and land are spacious which allows for privacy and close enough to town to be extremely convenient. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The large hot tub on the back deck is very relaxing, and the pool table kept the teens entertained. It was very nice that everyone had a tv in their room. The alarm system brings peace of mind. Loved the "sky windows" upstairs. Three bathrooms makes for a peaceful time:) Extremely nice, clean property and home. Very spacious with all the amenities of home. Can't wait to stay here again!!

                                  Owner info

                                  Year Purchased: 2006

About the owner: I'm Karen & worked as a LA teacher before coming on board as an educational diagnostician (assessing children for special needs). I resigned my LA position June 2012, and as of August 2012, I am now teaching a special needs class in nearby MS. My husband, Donald, is a retired security officer from a LA state inmate facility. He and I have owned rental property for the past 25 years and we renovate our own properties. We renovated a house in MS a couple blocks from the Gulf which Katrina claimed in 2005. We looked on the bright side and bought a house in Pigeon Forge 2006: Bear Creek Lodge. We are building back on our lot in Bay St. Louis, MS, so remember us if you are planning a trip to the mountains or to the beach. We are blessed to live on LA/MS line where we can go back & forth for important things: LA: grandchildren and church; MS: beach and school children. The most important things in our lives are God, our children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Why the Owner Chose Pigeon Forge:
I feel the presence of God daily, but when I take a scenic ride through Smokey Mt. National Park or Cades Cove, I think of how great my God must be that He spoke this existence into place. I've vacationed here for many years and owning a piece of property here was a far-away dream, but God made it a reality in 2006. He gave me a piece of the mountain. We invite you, our family and friends, to visit and enjoy a piece of the treasure with us. We want to share!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The real estate agent took us to look at many homes. Some had the great rolling view, but being from LA, the roads to access some of the properties were way too steep and curvy for me. Then, we saw Bear Creek Lodge. It was easily accessible and had a slow ascension--not the steep, curvy roads. Bear Creek Lodge didn't have the rolling view, but the traditional mountain view from the 2 back decks was awesome. It was a breath-taking mountain view looking down the side of the mountain. We could glance the small branch/creek flowing near the bottom and we could hear it, but it wasn't accessible. After purchase, the first thing we did was pay someone to clear enough of the underbrush to make the creek visible. My husband and some help then built over 100 steps leading down to the creek. Today, it's now a traditional mountain scene that one would see on a long mountain hike, but instead of the hike, at Bear Creek Lodge, all one has to do is walk/climb the steps. Guests have shared with me their experiences of walking down the many steps to the creek and countless children have played near the stream. The inside of the cabin is spacious and offers privacy for families to stay together under 1 roof and still depart on speaking terms: 3 floors with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath on each floor, affording privacy to everyone.
