A beach and surf lover's paradise, this oceanfront property, bordered by a tropical riverbed and on the sand, is the closest home to the Burros surf break within the Punta del Burro community, enjoying excellent surf right in front of the house.

Casa Rincon is a secluded tropical villa compound. It consists of the main house, (Casa Rincon), front house,(Casa Rinconcito), Casa Surf and two other casitas,(Casa Luna and Casa Sol). Casa Rincon and Casa Rinconcito each have full gourmet kitchens. It is fully wheelchair/handicap friendly all the way to the beach.

An emerald swimming pool fills the courtyard between the kitchen of Casa Rincon and the broad brick walkways leading to the Grand Palapa and beach. The Grand Palapa is perfect for lounging in a hammock or dining with it's built in stone and brick table, cushioned equipali leather chairs and elegant travertine buffet serving counter and carved marble sink. Lounge in a hammock or chaise amidst coconut palms shading the expansive beachfront stone patios with front row views of the bay, the surf, the point, and the winter sun setting right behind the Marieta Islands.

This property and the bordering riverbed are lush with rare plants and tropical bird song; truly a paradise for bird lovers as well. Casa Rincon is located within the community of Punta del Burro, one of The Bay of Banderas' oldest, safest and most desirable neighborhoods. Located 25 miles north of Puerto Vallarta and 7 miles south of Punta de Mita, Punta del Burro enjoys spectacular views of the whole bay with a beautiful beach free of crowds and vendors.

Maid Service: We have a live-in, on site caretaker/gardener/cook, Luis, and full time maid service. Our caretaker or maid may provide some light breakfast preparations, and special arrangements can be made with the owner or our house manager, Pablo Perez, to hire our help or others as dinner cooks.

SURF INFO: The main break at Burros is a fast right with a short left. Waves are usually chest high and can easily reach overhead in summer and winter. As access to this beach is not easy this break is the least crowded in the area.

The main peak at the point travels all the way to the front of the house where there is almost always a safe gentle surf for beginners, boogie boarders, body surfers and swimmers while farther out always a good size wave for anyone. Other surf spots nearby: Destiladeras, Punta de Mita, Sayulita, El Coral, Los Veneros, La Lancha,El Faro.

Although most people think of visiting during the cooler Winter and Spring months, Casa Rincon is also very beautiful and special during the hotter, wetter Summer months which happen to be our favorite time. The pool provides ideal refreshment, (as well as over 30 fans on the entire property, and air conditioning which we never even use), and all the lush trees provide plenty of shade. What we love more than anything are the exciting lightning and thunder showers, fireflies, fantastic surf, and the vibrant colors of the rainy season. The rains come and go quickly, bringing spectacular sunsets and sunrises, plenty of time in the sun and surf and leaving everything fresh and beautiful. Of course, the Spring and Winter are devine.

FULL COMPOUND: includes The Main house (Casa Rincon), Casa Luna, Casa Sol, Casa Rinconcito and Casa Surf. All five.
TWO HALF COMPOUND options are available: the CASA RINCON half includes Casa Rincon with both Casa Luna and Casa Sol, or the CASA RINCONCITO half which includes Casa Rinconcito along with Casa Surf.

  • This property is the closest thing to heaven on earth that I can muster. The video only begins to do it justice. Amazing architecture, both indoors and out. Flawlessly stocked kitchen. Delicious food. Warm company from the property caretakers. Tranquility. Plush accommodations. Luxury and seclusion, built to handle just about as many folks as you chose to invite. The ocean in its vast perfection is only a few steps away (a manageable break for a first-time surfer like me), which made sunset frolicking my most treasured time of each day. "Tropical Paradise" defined. I can't wait to return.

  • This place is absolutely rare and incredible. I tried to describe it to friends once I got home and could only come up with "hobbit/ewok" world. There are low down adobe rooms in the jungle and the cylindrical center house that feels like you're living in the trees. Sitting on a body board in the silvery calm evening surf watching the sun go down is transcendental and the mornings are deserted and golden calm. This place is a blank slate of beauty and the privacy will allow you to make it anything you want with your friends or family.

  • We visited this past May/June and had a terrific time. The property accomodated our party of 8 very well, with something for everyone to do. We made regular use of the kayaks and surfboards (several from which to choose). Luis and Alicia may have been the best part of this visit. They regularly prepared guacamole and pico de gallo for us, and prepared meals at our request. We invited them to dine with us some evenings and very much enjoyed their company. They are more than happy to help you with your spanish, in exchange for some help with their english. Wonderful people and a wonderful property.

  • This place is truly special & the online pictures do not come close to capturing its beauty. Our family and extended family shared a peaceful Christmas holiday at the casas. The layout was perfect: each family had a casa to themselves, but there were perfect gathering spaces under the Grand Palapa (right off of the beachwall which was even decked out with a Christmas tree when we were there!), in the main house, & at the firepit on the beach. The house is perfectly situated at the end of a beautiful, very high-end neighborhood. Even at Christmas, we had the beach and perfect surf break to ourselves. The houses are intertwined with lush gardens, and the paths/layout is whimsical & private (at first we completely missed Casa Luna tucked up in the gardens). Luis & Alicia were unbelievably gracious & accommodating. Luis got the freshest fish and lobster for us each day & the also cooked divine, authentic, dinners for us several nights -- with fresh, local ingredients (Alicia's guacamole & house-specialty salsa are to die for). There is a spa within walking distance, as well as a larger hotel from which to book tours or grab a taxi. We had a car and made daytrips to Sayulita occasionally which was quick & easy too. Barbara has created a beautiful place which emanates serentity and warmth. I feel lucky have to spent my holidays here. Feel free to e-mail w/ questions.

  • All we can say is WOW! We had the most fantastic 2 weeks at Casa Rincon and will most definitely return. The surfers among us were happy and the inner surfers within the rest of us were even able to try our hands (feet?) at it. When the waves went flat, we snorkeled, swam, kayaked and simply relaxed. Casa Rincon was private, quiet and extremely comfortable. Alicia and Luis took great care of us and the place really lived up to all our expectations! Thanks Barbara for creating such a great place to escape to!

  • My family of 4, including 2 teens, was lucky enough to rent Barbara's compound for one week in mid-February 2007. We live in a beautiful part of the world; yet, for the 1st time, we didn't want to come home. The word for this house and location is FANTASTIC! The setting, beach, area of Mexico, surf, water temperature, and climate are perfect. The houses are beautifully renovated and comfortable. Barbara has thought of everything from soft sheets to fragrant shower gel in each bath. She even provided a crate of aqua shoes and booties so that we could surf or play in the waves at low tide! We layed on her surfboards or kayaks everyday. Her caretakers, Luis and Alicia, are friendly and attentive, but careful to give you your privacy also. We ate every meal outside and watched the sunset over the Pacific. Barbara provides a terrific book of restaurant suggestions. Every choice that she liked, we loved! There are a surprising number of great restaurants in the area for how quiet it is. This rental is a great location for a romantic vacation. I really couldn't rate this rental higher. Our family plans to return to Casa Rincon next winter.

    Dear interested seeker: We have been grateful to have lovely and satisfied renters, many who return and some who become family friends, if they aren't already. For years this has been the coveted haven of famous surfers and muscians who have stayed with us or with the previous owners and builders of Casa Rincon. I named our house Casa Rincon because it is tucked into a private beachfront corner, and mostly because my husband's favorite surf spot was Rincon Point, and last but not least, this house now replaces our family's dream ranch on Rincon Mountain. My late husband, Bill Cleary, discovered Burros in the 60's and always wanted to live here. A few years ago we were blessed with the opportunity to buy this house built on the very land he had once dreamed of owning: the closest and most private spot next to the Burros break. Visitors are not only enchanted, but leave feeling stress free and filled up with the tranquility this paradise offers. We feel the same way! Our daughter and I spent the year of 2005-2006 here, she attending the Colegio Americano, while I worked on the house. We have had to return to Santa Barbara where family calls but we return with friends and family as often as possible. Since we are no longer here full time we have decided that Casa Rincon wants to be loved and shared with others, and so we began the adventure of sharing this slice of paradise. Please let us and any other interested renters know how your vacation was and enter something in this online guest book.
