Feb 2013, just got back from a one week stay in Maui (then 4 days in Molokai which was more relaxing than the crowds in Maui). The condo at Ania Nalu was exactly as advertised. First remember you are staying in a condo not a hotel. The site was vary clean, it is a mix of rentable condos mixed with units that are owned by individuals. This is the tropics, so there is always a hint of humidity. We were checked in by a very friendly staff. no problems or issues, the desk clerk was very informative and all services were working as listed on the web site. The kitchen worked perfectly. There were air conditioners in each of the bedrooms. Everything that was needed was provided. The main reason for choosing Aina Nalu is to be down town Lahaina. Everything was close, the restaurants, the shops, the wharf. It was a pleasant vacation.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Richard thank-you so much for a wonderful stay at Aina Nalu. The location can,t be beat. We walked everywhere. The Unit was nice and clean and the beds were very comfortable. (and did I mention location?) I can't imagine staying anywhere else on the island.Looking forward to staying again in the near future.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My wife, myself and two close friends stayed in this unit for 10 days. Overall we found the unit to be very clean and it is very well located being a short walk to Lahaina's Front Street. There were plenty of towels and additionally there was a cooler, donated by a previous renter, as well as a number of beach related items. There were a couple of minor issues and we provided a short list of suggestions to the property manager on our departure as none were serious enough to warrant a call. Our stay here enhanced our vacation and we would recommend it to others who wish to stay right in Lahaina.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The condo is a very great value. Location is extremely close to Front Street and the unit itself is very spacious and clean. There were some minor issues that we experienced such as the light bulb above the master bathroom shower was out. We called the property management company and they said they would send someone out to fix it but they never did. It wasn't a big deal since the rest of the bathroom lights work so we could still see while showering albeit a bit dark. Another issue was the lack of a starter kit such as shampoo and conditioner upon our arrival, but that was resolved when I contacted the owner of the condo. Overall we had a very positive stay at this condo. Towels were plentiful as well as beach mats, ice cooler, boogie board, snorkel gear and beach chairs. Will definitely stay there again. Thanks Richard for everything!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Our family booked this rental from July 03-23rd, 2011. We have been to Maui before and to the Aina Nalu resort and loved it. Unfortunately, this unit was poorly maintained and not as clean as we expected. Upon our arrival at the unit, we had to clean a/c vents as they were completely plugged off, the TV in the living area was broken (and we only cared about this because we have small children) and replaced 5 days prior to us leaving after being there for 3 weeks, there were a few cochroaches (that we had to kill) in the main bathroom and an ant problem in the bathroom off the king bedroom (as stated in the other review). This unit is managed by a third party management company that does not keep the unit very clean. The tile floors were so dirty that we kept our shoes on at all times and the overall cleanliness of the unit was sub-par. On a positive note, Aina Nalu is a beautiful property and there are many units to rent in this same price range that are maintained better.Owner response: We are obviously discouraged did hear this. We have made the necessary corrections to assure the unit is in top condition at all times. The TV issue was unfortunate. The TV did actually work but was problamtic with turning on and off. The TV was replaced with a 32" LCD. A definite up grade from the standard televisions in most units. Our management company has promised all corrections will be made. We would like to make this up to you and would be happy to offer you a discounted rate if you decide to stay with us in the future. Wishing you and your family all the best,

I, my husband and my parents (4 total) spent a total of 7 nights on beautiful Maui, in this lovely rental, and had a great time. The condo is close enough to walk to the Lahaina pier, and all the surrounding restaurants and shops. This made it easy to catch the whale watching tour with Pacific Whale Foundation (highly recommend). We saw tons of whales on the tour, right next to the boat, but you didn’t have to take a tour; a short drive down the street to a lookout of the waters between Maui and Lana’i and you could watch them all day long. Many of the other cruises depart from the pier as well (sunset, snorkeling, etc.). My husband and I did a wonderful all day snorkel/whale watching trip of Lana’i through Maui Ocean Riders (though they departed just down the street because it is a rafting tour). As for the resort, we didn’t spend a lot of time there, because we were in Maui, but it was great and well worth the price. We booked last minute and the owner gave us a good deal. This was my first booking through Homeaway, so I was a little apprehensive, but it was a very easy process. The resort is exactly as pictured. I emailed the owner several times with questions prior to booking, and he was very quick to respond and always helpful. I was pleasantly surprised with the extras that we found in the room that I was not aware would be included (a few beach accessories, foil, spices, etc.). The only ‘compliant’ I had, if you could call it that, was an ant problem we had a few days into our stay. Fortunately, the condo also had a can of bug spray, and after a few doses, the ants were not seen again. Having stayed on a couple of the Hawaiian Islands in the past, I believe that this was not really a problem with the condo, just a product of staying in a tropical location. One thing I would advise, the condo is within walking distance of the pier, but not any beaches. A trip to the beach will be anywhere from a 5 min to a 40 min drive, depending on which one you go to. This was not a problem for us because we wanted to try them all, so we would have had to drive to the others anyway. All and all, I would recommend this rental.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
