Stay in a romantic, luxurious large master suite in an italianate villa with stone balconies and arched covered verandas. Enjoy an oversized whirlpool corner tub for two looking out over city lights at night, in your double oversized bathroom with a separate shower with spa jets for two. Surround yourself with the luxury of travertine, marble, and glass tile, with antique lighting. French doors in your bedroom lead out onto the huge round balcony, with access to the gardens, pool (not artificially heated), spa, and gazebo below. Or, upper master has private 13' balcony with mountain, valley, and city-light views, and extra sitting area with views. House has 2 complete large master suites (bring your best friends!), plus 3 more smaller bedrooms.

Entire house (5 bedrooms) sleeps 9 in beds (4 queens, 1 full). One extra raised queen aerobed available. 3 bathrooms have large jetted tubs (and showers), 4th has romantic Victorian slipper tub for 2, off the Victorian suite. There are 2 gas fireplaces in the house and one electric in the bar area, as well as an outdoor gas fireplace on covered veranda. Glass tile, wood windows and floors, marble, granite and inlaid travertine everywhere. This house is a lushly romantic, Italianate original.

You are welcomed w/champagne on ice and chocolates, or help yourself at the private Victorian bar in the parlor downstairs. Go down for a cool swim or a hot spa at our jungle-style pool (not artificially heated, unless arranged in advance for an extra util. fee.) Sun heats pool in summer to mid 80's.

Visit one of our areas many fine gourmet restaurants, or dine-in by cooking in our gorgeous chef's kitchen, with granite island and stools. The kitchen is stocked with basics. A chef can be arranged. There is both a formal dining room and a kitchen nook with fabulous Open Space views of the valley below. There is a large living area next to the kitchen with a large flat screen T.V., surround sound, C.D. player and gas fireplace.

A lovely covered, arched veranda with outdoor fireplace and breakfast bistro set is perfect for sipping wine and watching the view (wild hawks, birds, and other wildlife, especially deer, are plentiful). There are 3 other balconies in back, including a majestic inlaid travertine round large one with fountain. Or wander down to the terraced lawn area and go down to the new formal rose and perrennial gardens, w/arbors, benches, gazebo, and birdfeeders. Just sit and watch the many species of birds at play, as hummingbirds zip over your head.

On-site caretakers cottage(sorry, not available in summer)can be rented for extra people for $150/nt. extra. 20' x 14' w/own bathroom, queen bed, and flat-screen t.v. Extra rental must not exceed car limit of 3 cars. Otherwise, we are there nights ONLY, using separate approach and entrance, not part of house, to respect your privacy.

Sorry, this is not a party house. We cannot accommodate weddings, big parties, reunions, or other "events," out of consideration for neighbors. 3-4 car (at all times), 10 person maximum. No on-street parking. 9 people works better, because one bedroom has a double bed, and a bath, not a stand-up shower. Children are very welcome.

Drive an hour to our beautiful Sonoma County wild beaches and cliffed coves, walk in giant redwoods, kayak or canoe on the Russian River, or fish at Lake Sonoma. Hundreds of gorgeous wineries and tasting rooms in every direction. Tour the beautiful gardens and historical tasting rooms of Korbel Champagne Cellars. Visit the quaint historical towns of Calistoga or St. Helena, or hike in our beautiful state parks.

For a unique side-trip, visit Safari-West African wildlife park, just minutes away, where you ride in jeeps past free-roaming animals, with no crowds. Visit the historical squares of Sonoma and Healdsburg for many choices in first-class dining and shopping. Come enjoy the luxury!

Why the Owner Chose Santa Rosa

We did not buy it, we built it, not as a vacation rental, but as our family home, while our daughter was in high school. We planned out every artistic detail of our villa ourselves; it is truly a house like none other. Kevin and I still live in and enjoy our beautiful property and gardens, in our caretaker's cottage, to ensure our guests have help at their fingertips, and that our neighbors have peace and quiet.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Because of the intense labor of love we have devoted to it, our gardens are a source of pride and joy each spring and summer, not only for the bright colors of the roses and perennials, but also for the myriad of wild birds they attract, a little like a "cageless" aviary. Sit and close your eyes and listen to the sound of hundreds of fluttering wings, from the bright yellow finches to the dozens of bejeweled hummingbirds whirring over your head. We have often thought we should rename our home "Hummingbird Villa." Or watch out over the canyon to catch a glimpse of the hawks and other large birds of prey who ride the wind drafts there. Birdwatcher's will love our little slice of Paradise, as will flower lovers. We are also the only rental around with multiple large balconies overlooking the wild Open Space view. Sit out by the fireplace on the 30' long covered loggia off the upper floor, or have lunch out on the 60' round Italian balcony. Or, have a romantic glass of wine out on your own private 13' balcony off the Master Bedroom. This house was truly designed for outdoor living.

A
safari west wild animal preserve

travel in open jeeps through grasslands and hills to see authentic African wildlife, much of it endangered. The animals run free, you go by jeep with a knowledgeable guide. Fun for families and ever

B
paradise ridge winery

Less than 2 miles from the villa, Paradise Ridge Winery makes a wonderful, short wine tasting jaunt. It sits on beautiful rolling acreage, with large view balconies, and a friendly tasting room staff

Owner's Map of Santa Rosa

Hi, we're your hosts, Maureen and Kevin. We have lived in Santa Rosa for 25 years and 30 years. We know you'll fall in love with the natural beauty of our area, as we have: the soaring redwoods, the wild, rocky coast, and the miles and miles of green, rolling, oak-studded hills and vineyards. We enjoy meeting people from all over the United States and the world, and doing everything we can to make sure that their vacation in wine country is the best ever, from buying a birthday cake to making reservations at the best restaurants, to arranging drivers, chefs, and masseuses.

    • We rented the Villa for the July 4th week and loved everything about it. Mornings with coffee on the patio with fireplace, hanging out by the pool in the afternoons, dinners cooked in and the jacuzzi at night made for a great vacation. The house was pure luxury yet comfortable. Maureen and Kevin were great and offered many suggestions for the our stay including a private wine driver (a must). We have rented many houses and this one will remain a favorite. You won't be disappointed.

    • Wow! What a fabulous house. We shared this house with 3 other couples with room to spare. All celebrating anniversaries. We have been to Sonoma for 3 years now and this was the best. Close to Napa and Sonoma...the house and surroundings are fantastic. The pictures do not do it justice. We will be back!!!! Thank you to Maureen and Kevin for a wonderful weekend!!

    • Our family of 9 stayed at Villa Santa Rosa the week of 7/4/09 and everything about the house exceeded our expectations. The master suites were large and beautiful, morning coffee on the balcony with fireplace and views, evening meals prepared in the gourmet kitchen and relaxing in the jacuzzi at the end of the day. We rent houses a couple times a year and the whole experience, from the initial email to Maureen and Kevin, though our stay was perfect. They also provided us with alot of information prior to arrival including putting us in contact with a private wine tour driver (highly recommended). The house is everything is says plus more and made for a very memorible family vacation...

      Homeowner Response:
Thanks, Ann! Please come back next year. We'd love to have you!

    • We spent a week in the villa with 4 adults and 2 children and it was everything we expected and could have thought to ask for. Spacious beyond belief with a wonderful view from every room on the down-hill side of the house. Amenities were top notch and the few minor things that inevitably crop up were dealt with almost instantly. We felt very welcome from the instance we walked into the house and were greeted by Champaign, fresh flowers and a wonderful cake. The kitchen is gourmet quality and the furnishings and details were beyond anything we have experienced before. The house is amazingly well stocked, minimizing the need to buy all the little stuff that adds up and you wind up leaving behind. Don’t buy anything until you see what is there. Morning walks into the public open space below the house are wonderful, by the way, we wound up eating-in more than we expected to because the kitchen is so easy to work in and will accommodate multiple "butts" to distribute the work load. We have VRBO'd with positive experiences in Europe, Mexico and the States, but this is a stand out from all of those.

    • A perfect blend of luxury and comfort! Our family of 9 recently stayed at this property for a relaxing retreat and it was absolutely magnificent! From the spacious common areas to the incredible showers in the master suites and the fully equipped kitchen, this property has it all. We had so much fun swimming in the resort style pool and enjoyed strolling around the charming garden. I read a book on the balcony and with the serene view of the santa rosa valley, I felt like I was in a different world. We loved this place, would highly recommend it to anyone and will definitely come back as soon as we get the chance! Also, Maureen and Kevin were the best hosts - so accommodating they went above and beyond to make our vacation special. Thank you again!

    • We had 4 couples stay at this home and we had a fantastic time. Plenty of room and space for all of us. The house and grounds are beautiful, well maintained and very clean. Every comfort imaginable is found in this home and to make your stay that much more realaxing, the owners can give you names of a personal driver and chef. We used them and loved it! I am one of the pickiest people when it comes to staying outside my own home but this place was so great I had to add a comment. Thanks Maureen and Kevin!

    • We loved the villa. The owners did not spare anything when building the house. They used the finest material. The house is spacious and very quiet because of the high ceilings and the size of the rooms. The furniture are beautiful and comfortable. The views are wonderful. The neighborhood is very quiet. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

    • Two couples booked this villa for a week in October to celebrate a couple of birthdays. This place far exceeded any of our expectations. We each had a master suite with a bath area that was gorgeous! All of the living areas had spectacular views of the pool area, gardens and the valley which was beautiful day and night. The furniture was all very comfortable and the house had everything you could imagine. We wish we would have booked longer, since the location was so close to the redwoods, the beach, and all of the wineries in Sonoma and Napa! Next time, we'll plan at least one day and evening to do nothing but stay and play at the house! Maureen and Kevin were very accomodating, we saw them when we first got there to get a tour of the home and how to work the Jacuzzi, lights, TV's, etc. They left us their phone #'s if we needed them for anything, but we had everything we needed so we went by their shop downtown on the way back to the airport to say goodbye and buy just one more souvenier of our trip! Of course, any excuse to go into Santa Rosa is a good one, but the Russian River Brewery was a huge hit with us - great pizza & a friendly place. Hope to do this trip again!

    • If you are considering a vacation rental in California Wine Country, look no further! My husband and I, along with 6 family members, recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Villa Santa Rosa. The owners are extremely easy to work with and the beautiful home was exactly as advertised...in fact, it was even better. I realize that when making a choice of hotels, B&Bs, inns or vacation homes that you take a bit of chance and hope for the best. Again, rest assured that this wonderful home is everything they say it is. It is beautifully appointed and comfortably slept 8 people. The location is perfect - right in the heart of Sonoma County, and a close drive to Napa or the Sonoma Coast. Needless to say, I would recommend this vacation home to anyone...you won't be dissappointed and your guests will be very impressed!

    • My wife and I stayed here with two friends. It was as if we all had our own wing of the house. While it was large, it was very condusive to group activities around meals and relaxation. The pool area was great and extremely relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils for a full on dining experience. The location in relation to Sonoma and the Russian River was perfect. We will be staying here again. My only concern in posting this review is the impact on availability for us. Enjoy!
