Historic Sugar Hacienda

This imposing 150 year old sugar hacienda is historically the most important house in one of the most historic towns in Baja California, located in an oasis near the ocean where sugar was the cash crop. Known as 'Casa Dracula' because of its distinctive gothic windows, the house has been rustically preserved almost unchanged.
The area has some of the best winter surfing on the west coast, beach combing, hiking or mountain biking in the mountains nearby, whale watching, almost every outdoor pursuit imaginable. The little town, an artist refuge, features a large range of restaurants, art galleries, craft and antique shops (one of which occupies a separate portion of our property). The climate is dry, warmer in winter than other Baja locations, and cooler in summer. The town is a hour's drive to either Cabo or La Paz.
The second floor includes two large bedrooms with double/queen beds and large windows with wonderful views. There is a small bedroom between the larger ones with a set of bunk beds - perfect for small children and with room to be able to set up your port-a-crib. The house is kid friendly, though not kid proof. There is an additional bedroom with views to the courtyard that has three single beds. A large landing and a bathroom are also included on the second floor. The first floor includes a large front room which is separate and inaccessible from the rest of the house and currently serves as a storage area and office for a local interior designer. The first floor also includes a large living room with two sets of double doors that open onto the courtyard patio area as well as a large entry/stairwell area. The courtyard/patio area is the heart of the house and includes a covered dining area, a full kitchen, a bathroom, an additional bedroom with a full bed and sitting area, a separate seating area with firepit, a hammock, and many native plantings including palms and bougainvillas.
