The Homestead is a gorgeous Dutch colonial home situated on a private village street, tucked away in the theatre district of the village. It is just one block to Main Street and Mirror Lake, very private but still right in the middle of town!
The home features a newly remodeled master suite with its own bath, private deck with mountain views, cathedral ceilings, and flat screen TV. The five bedrooms:

You're going to love what we did with the kitchen and breakfast nook! We just finished remodelling (Spring 2013) and it turned out great. New mud room, new flooring througout, stainless steel appliances in kitchen, etc...
The home also features a living room with flat screen TV, formal dining room, breakfast nook and a side room.
There is an outdoor 8-person hot tub on the deck and access to the two-stall garage. There are games, Cable TV, wireless internet (WiFi), and stereo with iPOD jack. Fenced in yard is perfect for your dog, pets are more than welcome! This is the perfect property for one, two or three families!!

Highly recommend this home just off Main Street , perfect access to town, the lake, whiteface and all stores and restaurants. Had 7 teenagers and 2 dogs that loved the place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with young children.

Our large family spent Christmas week at the Homestead. We all had a wonderful time. Location is perfect - you can walk a few steps and be right on the main street of town. Kids walked to park around the corner to sled. We were lucky to get several days of snow, so the skiing, boarding and xctry skiing were great. Hot tub a plus after long day of skiing. Extra bonus was that we could bring our elderly labrador along - he loved the snow too!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Great house, especially for those traveling with dogs. Great showers and water pressure! Easy walk into town and around Mirror Lake. My Short film got into the Lake Placid Film Fest. The house was in the perfect location right behind the film forum office a 1 min walk down a little hill put us right on main street and right next to the movie theater. The hot tub is amazing and my friends cooked out with the propane grill until they could no longer eat steaks and burgers. The owner was great checked in with us enough to make sure we didn't need anything and his binder that he left on the kitchen table was filled with great insider info on the town and restaurants. All and all a perfect stay If you are going to lake placid I highly recommend renting this wonderful houseRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a group of 10 stay comfortably over a winter's week. The fireplace and its proximity to Main St were probably our two favorite things about the house. There were plenty of linens and nicely equipped kitchen. With its location, there was something for everyone in our group. Catching the ski shuttle was easy. The toboggan chute was a pleasant walk across Mirror Lake. For the runners among us, a nice extensible loop around Mirror Lake, along with ice skating and wine tasting. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for a great stay!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The Homestead was absolutely fantastic. Spent a week there over the Christmas holiday and we had a great time. Close to everything, can easily park the car for the entire stay. We had several kids with us and there was plenty of room for everyone. Hot tub is a treat after skiing all day. Highly recommend it and we will definetely be back!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

3 generation family vacation (with pets!) was packed with wonderful memories at this property! The house accommodated all our needs and we loved the rooftop deck for our family barbecues. We've stayed at the house twice, each time was superb! The location is very convenient, just 1/2 block from Main St. and all the bars and restaurants in Lake Placid. The deck and the hot tub are a wonderful way to spend some time. Kim and Tom are great, very responsive! We very much look forward to our next stay!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a great stay there, comfortably slept all of our party (14). A very short walk to the center of town, great place to stay overall. No issues with anything at all. Would certainly recommend for any larger parties looking for comfort and a great location.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: We are the Rath family, we LOVE Lake Placid and know you will too! The Adirondacks are an endless outdoor playground, if you get bored up here you're doing something wrong. The Homestead is an amazing property, just a few steps from Main Street, perfect for large groups of family and/or friends...
Why the Owner Chose Lake Placid:
Lake Placid has it all. Four seasons of the year there is ALWAYS something to do outdoors. We spend much of our winters downhill skiing at Whiteface mountain, cross country skiing just about ANYWHERE, and snowmobiling the hundreds of miles of trails the Adirondacks has to offer. The rest of the year we enjoy boating or paddling the lakes, golfing or hiking the many high peaks in the area.

Without question, the 'fan favorites' are the huge decks, and oh yes, the 8 person hot tub!
