You are looking at one of the best-kept secrets in Colorado! Just 5 miles from Blackhawk and Central City. It is a must to read my guest book below and hear all the amazing things previous guests have said about their stay.
Solid Log Cabin with all the amenities:
- Surrounded by National Forest, VERY Private and quiet (you could walk around naked all day and nobody would ever know!)
- Gushing Mountain Stream next to Cabin - great for your morning coffee or evening happy hour!
- 20-foot tall vaulted ceilings
- Fully Remodeled Kitchen and Bath in 2013
- 1-acre of land and No neighbors.
- Free Wifi & Internet Access!
- Awesome indoor/outdoor sound system!
- Camfire Ring, Tree Hammock, & Patio Next to Stream! Gold Panning is also on-site!
- On property elaborate treasure hunt!
- A secret 1/2 mile long trail beginning behind the cabin for cabin guests only to enjoy!
- Beautiful Master Loft overlooking entire Cabin! Plus one extra bedroom, and a kids treehouse loft bedroom. The treehouse loft is mostly meant for kids, but its a cool place to hang out in too. Includes a twin bed, and Directv & DVD player.
- Property is located about 1 hour from Denver and it is very easy to get to.
4-wheelers can be rented and delivered to the cabin for approx. $100/day if desired. Information is also at the cabin for local dining, casinos, guided fishing tours, grocery stores, hiking and jeep trails, etc. You can 4-wheel/ATV right off the property and into endless amounts of trails leading all the way to the Continental Divide, Winter Park, St. Mary's Glacier, and everywhere in between. The house sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by thick national forest. I also provide a Topographical Map of the area around the cabin showing all of the Jeep and Hiking Trails available, right in the cabin's backyard! Golden Gate National Park is also only 15 minutes away. Plus...your own private 1/2 mile long hiking trail right outside the front door.
As long as there isn't snow on the ground, a fantastic elaborate Treasure Hunt exists on the property awaits you...and I encourage all ages to do it. Its not easy, and kids will need help from their parents to figure out the clues, but its a TON of fun. I spent over a month and $500 in materials putting it together...you'll love it! And if you figure it out...there will be a buried treasure chest for you to find at the end...
Roads are plowed and maintained by the City of Blackhawk all the way to the cabin. 2-wheel drive accessible year round. Complimentary Hot Chocolate, Spiced Cider and Coffee are provided. Kitchen condiments, Firewood, Wood Stove Pellets are also provided. Easy check-in. A 4-digit access code will give you access for the length of your stay.

Fourth of July just wouldn't be the same if we didn't spend it at this perfect spot in Black Hawk. We've been there for the past five years during the first week of July and already have it booked for next year. When we walk in the door we smile at each other and say, We're home! We both enjoyed the new hammock this year and the patio by the creek is our favorite spot for drinking coffee in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. We love the privacy of the cabin and the fact that it's so close to Black Hawk and the fun of the casino. If you're lucky enough to visit this little bit of heaven, you'll understand why we can't wait to return!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: I enjoy improving the cabin for you everytime you come, so there is always something new for you to enjoy - Love you guys! :-)

My husband and two young daughters wanted to find a weekend getaway near our home in Denver, and Brian's cabin was a wonderful find. We had a great time! It's obvious Brian and his family have put a lot of work and love into the place. We expecially liked the little touches, like the stamped floors, painted mice, rope lighting etc. Our 5 YO loved the treasure hunt and the "Cub's Den" (we almost couldn't get her to come out). The cabin is small, but makes very good use of space and is well stocked with the necessities. We have lots of exploring to do in other parts of Colorado, but when we want a place nearby, we will definately be back!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My husband and I wanted to get married in the winter, in a cabin. This was the perfect get away for small wedding. It snowed almost everyday we were there and it was absolutely beautiful. The pictures and descriptions were spot on. We are not gamblers but still enjoyed the quiet relaxing time. We are hoping to make it back next year maybe during the summer months. We met some great people and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you BrianDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My boyfriend and I rent a lot of cabins all over Colorado. This cabin was by far the cleanest and cutest cabin we have ever stayed in! It has so many cute little details! We had all these plans around the area, but never really wanted to leave! It was such a great place to relax and found the fireplaces so cozy and romantic! We will definately stay there again!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I took my husband on a surprise trip to Colorado for his birthday and we stayed at the Ultimate Cabin. What an AMAZING place to stay! Everything was perfect and exactly what we were looking for! We spent the first day just hanging out at the cabin because it was just so amazing! The fireplace, the beautiful open windows, the overall ambiance of the cabin, and the privacy we felt was just so relaxing. Brian was so helpful with answering questions and helping reserve the cabin, so friendly and quick to respond. We will DEFINITELY be returning as soon as our schedules allow. I would recommend this cabin to anyone and everyone! AMAZING!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My two best friends and I spend a week at Brian’s beautiful cabin. We all needed guys get away from wives, work and the grind of the everyday race. At check-in time we met Brian’s parents who were very helpful and really nice people. We hiked, had campfires every morning and evening, grilled out and ate like kings. It was a very relaxing week that we spent outdoors 98% of the time. The weather was perfect. The temperatures were 42 to 72 at the cabin while Denver was 82 to 92. Played golf twice and shot my best ever. We enjoyed gambling at the Casinos in Blackhawk and won. We did not get to do any fishing which was on our agenda – just too busy being outside and hanging out. We did not have any problems at the cabin and only a couple of comments about our stay. There is no cell phone service at the cabin. So you either go up the mountain road or down to Blackhawk - if you need that (I didn’t and was glad to be away from all the calls/e-mails). There is a land line to use at the cabin. The cabin is well stocked with the essentials. We bought and brought too many things like spices, condiments, oil, paper plates and towels, shampoo and conditioner, soap, etc. (all of which was not needed). That is not a bad thing but would have helped our meal planning some were we aware. Also some of the Casinos offer coupons with their Players Card so we took advantage of free breakfasts, lunches and a dinner or two. My only negative was the DirecTV was locked out of certain channels which were an annoyance at worst. The code to unlock should be provided. As old Boy Scouts we left the cabin in better shape than when we arrived. BTW the cabin is in excellent shape. Perfect for one couple and kids or two couples. I’m sure the cabin is spectacular in the Winter. BTD Jupiter, Florida (where it is hot all the time but we have an ocean).Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My husband, myself, and our 15-year-old spent a week in Brian's cabin -- beautiful area, secluded location, and a cabin that was better equipped than most hotels! The best thing (in my opinion) -- the lovely area by the stream, only a few feet from the front door of the cabin. My son hogged (I mean, "enjoyed") the hammock and our two little "city" dachshunds thought they were quite the rugged mountain dogs as we hiked all over the property. We thought we would want to explore the nearby towns, but we spent 90% of our time just relaxing at the cabin -- Brian has lots of board games and a HUGE movie collection. We didn't want to leave and certainly plan on coming back! One place we did find away from the cabin that was a real treasure: there's a little cafe in Blackhawk called "Mocha Mountain," located right next to the post office, owned by a husband and wife. They have free wi-fi and the husband is an AMAZING cook and baker! Don't miss it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We absolutely loved staying at this comfortable and cozy mountain cabin! Brian (and his family) have done a remarkable job making it a perfect place to stay. It is in an excellent location, secluded without traffic noise or people around...just gorgeous scenery everywhere you look. Our 2 Goldens had the most fun of their lives! They loved playing in the creek just right outside our door and we loved sitting on the patio by them and listening to the soothing sounds of the rushing water...so therapeutic! Watching the hummingbirds, reading in the hammock, hiking with the dogs, grilling out on the wonderful deck, making s'mores (thanks for all the fixings!) all made for one of the most enjoyable and relaxing vacations we have ever taken. We stayed 2 weeks, but wished for more. There is so much to do there in the summer...the weather is glorious 58-80 degrees, just perfect! Because of the central location it is easy to go out for a few hours for adventure, sightseeing, shopping and eating. We loved Golden Gate Park, Nederland, Evergreen, Georgetown and Idaho Springs. The cabin is stocked with all kinds of brochures for fun things to do and great places to eat. All over the Front Range are spectacular views, but really the very best views and our greatest enjoyment was back at the cabin. We have been blessed to travel extensively, but this will always be in our memories as one of our favorite places to stay. In fact, we are already booking a trip back to this beautiful heaven on earth next year and have recommended it to our family and friends! Brian, thanks for being so open and honest with us (we had lots of questions!)and so easy to work with. It was an awesome experience for us....can't wait until next summer!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Awww....thanks you guys! And thanks for leaving it in such great shape for my family to enjoy the night after you left. Looking forward to next year, and I'm sure there will be something new to enjoy as well (there always is - my Cabin is a labor of love to me). Sorry you are now back in the 108-degree brutal Texas heat ;-) - Brian

We can recommend this cabin without hesitation to anyone who is looking for a comfortable, private get-away that's within an hour's drive of a dozen destinations in the area. We are picky travelers, but this cabin did not disappoint in any way! It has spoiled us for hotel vacations! Our family of five (children ages 13, 10, and 7) spent a fabulous week in mid-July. Hubby and I had a comfortable bed in a private room on the main floor; the kids were upstairs in the open loft (which includes a computer with dial-up access and plenty of room for them to have their own space). The shower/bathroom has been recently updated and we had plenty of hot water. The living room area was great for family-time: nice couch, soft chair, TV (Women's World Cup Soccer week!), place for playing board games or whatever. The full kitchen and outdoor gas grill meant we could eat "real" food and not have to dine out every meal, and Brian has enough extras so it didn't matter that we forgot to bring butter and ketchup. He also had s'more fixings, which made for some fun evenings around the fire pit. We did not get to eat many meals on the deck because of rain storms, but that's a perfect place to enjoy the view--which is forest and a lovely rushing stream that crashes down the valley. The dirt road to the cabin is easy to drive but without much traffic, so we enjoyed the solitude. We enjoyed having a hiking trail and the little patio by the creek right outside the door, and my husband took some beautiful photos of the scenery and the wildflowers nearby. We made day trips to Golden Gate Canyon State Park just 8 miles away. It has gorgeous hiking trails--some flat, some hilly, some wooded, some meadow--and only costs $7 for a day permit. We had a beautiful hike at Arapaho Pass/4th of July trail near Eldora; we trekked Mt. Evans and got within arm's reach of a mountain goat and its baby; we went to Red Rocks, Boulder, and Golden; saw the state capitol and the science museum in Denver; and generally enjoyed every minute in our "home away from home". The cabin is located at about 8600 ft elevation, so the afternoons were warmish (70's) with no humidity and it got down to the upper 40's overnight. Anyway, wonderful vacation and the cabin was a big part of the "wonderful-ness". We are keeping this one bookmarked and will be back again as soon as we can!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: I purchased the property in 2002. It was never listed publicly... a friend was selling it. I had NO idea what I was going to do with it...I just knew it was so special I couldn't let it go or I would always regret it :-)
Why the Owner Chose Black Hawk:
This place was like a childhood dream come true for me. Everything about it...is...perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. My wife is a real estate agent, and she's been looking in the mountains for years for another property like it for us to buy in addition, and we just can't find anything like this one. Its so special in that it has the river, ultimate privacy, the true 'log' home feel, big open feel, no neighbors, the private hiking trail, surrounded by national forest, etc. Its not hard to find most of those...but getting all of them in 1 property without spending $1M is not easy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This Cabin is a labor of love for me and my family. We constantly upgrade it without hesitation. Because we use it so much ourselves...its so worth it spending $ to make it better. I've had families that have stayed here every year for the last 7 years, and its really fun upgrading it for them too so there is always something new to enjoy :)
