Dahlonega cabin description
If your looking for an ADORABLE CABIN,'on the river'....easy access to Atlanta and North Georgia THIS IS IT. The DECK is literally ..on the River! Sit down and just enjoy the sound of the river or go down and take time to do a little fishing or just curl up and read a good book!
The cabin is truly great with a living room and fireplace, nice master bedroom with bath, cute kitchen with 'Wolf' stove, small dining area. Please note that the cabin has an under the counter refrigerator. Also, it has two window unit air conditioners with ceiling fans. We usually have cool nights and pleasant days in the mountains, but check all the pictures and note what is and is not available.
There is a television for DVD's with a good selection. No cable. Most guests are not coming to the mountains to watch television and the cable isn't great in this area! LOT'S of books and magazines
Location is at the end of a dead end road, only woods directly across from the river and twenty minutes to the outlet mall, if shopping is your thing.
Ten minutes to the delightful town of Dahlonega where you can shop, dine in over 20 restaurants, canoe down the river, hiking trails galore, horseback riding less than two miles. OR...you can head to downtown Dahlonega and get your Starbucks fix. Stay for a weekend or come and hang out for a week! These locations are hard to find and you will love this beautiful 'hideaway'.
WHAT RENTER'S HAVE TO SAY
'We will be back!! We absolutely loved the cabin. It has such a relaxing feeling to it that we immediately felt at home. It was wonderful being able to relax with our dogs. You have a very special place here on the river! C & Ed B Atlanta
'Charming cabin-Great location- Ooh La La - there is a 'wolf' in the kitchen. A hop & skip over to Dahlonega. How that place has changed since my youth! The Crimson Moon Cafe- yum yum. Our daughter enjoyed the General Store, something a little different for a city kid. Speaking of things she enjoyed- we had waffles every morning (your waffle maker). Too cold to enjoy the deck, but next time. Thanks Anita! ' The Franzman's
'And the heavens declare the glory' SO great to see the stars! Awesome relaxing. We loved hearing the river.' J & Deena

'We loved your cabin! It is such a special place and such a beautiful setting. We just sat on the deck and watched the river roll by while cooking on the grill. You have done such a great job of making it feel so wonderful and we were so at home. We are telling all our friends and plan to come back soon. Our dog loved it too! So glad you understand the thing about pets.'

I would recommend this cabin to anyone!! Anita, the owner, was such a pleasure to speak to and can really give you great ideas on what to do around the area. The cabin itself is very charming and very relaxing. I will be back for another stay here at this cabin, if not move here to Dahlonega for good! I would recommend a hike on the Appalachian Trail and go to Blood Mountain's hiking store and see the hostel. I would also recommend seeing Helen and Tallulah Falls, its Gorgeous!! Anita recommended Pueblos downtown Dahlonega to eat, it was delicious! All I can really say is, this is a quiet retreat and I have missed it since we have left!!

Owner response: One of the best part of owning a rental cabin is meeting and learning about the guests. I SO enjoyed my conversations with Deanna and learning more about she and Yuri and what they wanted to do while in Dahlonega for their Thanksgiving trip. What a delight! I hope you will come back soon and maybe even decide to make Dahlonega your home! The cabin will be waiting for you when you head back this way from Florida! Thanks so much for choosing the Chestatee River Cabin!!
This cabin was a wonderful location for a quiet getaway, perfect if you plan to tour wineries - there are three within 15 minutes of the cabin. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck the mornings and evenings...it's actually enormous with plenty of furniture to choose from. You do have neighbors within sight of the cabin, but we only saw anyone out briefly. The kitchen is best suited for weekenders who are not planning on preparing large meals or storing lots of food, we planned accordingly and it worked out great for us. We didn't realize the tv was only for movies, so were disappointed to not be able to watch a football game. Luckily, town is not far and easy to find. Shenanigans proved very festive for game watching. If your looking for a convenient, quiet location to "unplug" and relax this is the place for you!

My husband and I (and dog, Jack) stayed for the weekend while we were in town for my best friend's wedding. What a treat! I'm only sorry we weren't able to stay longer! The cabin is at the end of a beautiful, quiet drive and is convenient to Dahlonega (only about a 10 minute drive). It was the perfect place to get away. Right on the river, we enjoyed the peacefulness and clean mountain air. The cabin was outfitted with everything we needed--we did notice that the fridge was small, but since we ate out for the wedding festivities, we didn't mind. I think we'd only have trouble if we had stayed for a longer period of time. For outdoorsy folks, we suggest stopping by the visitor's center in town and getting a list of nearby hikes--they were super helpful. We hope to be back soon!

Owner response: Ashley, SO glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin. I just added another small refrigerator in case someone that is staying for several days, will have more room for food. I hope you and your husband can come back again soon for a longer stay. I appreciate you!! Best to you and yours! Anita
Well, I made these reservations a few weeks beforehand, thinking it'd be nice to soak up the sun for a few days. Unfortunately we booked the weekend during The Great Deluge of Georgia and it rained the. Entire. Time. We had a great time though, still. This cabin is super cozy and well-decorated. No guilt about watching movies the entire time! For those with pets: you should totally go here. My dog is kind of a grumpy bastard and, quite frankly, a bit exhausting. Being out in the wilderness with him was great though! Take him away from other humans and dogs and his personality really shines. Now that I'm back in Atlanta he's reverted. Womp womp. Anyways. I definitely recommend this cabin. It's super close to Atlanta and quite reasonably priced. Oh, and p.s., unlike in Atlanta, practically every place we tried to go to for dinner in Dahlonega takes reservations. Just something to keep in mind.

Cabin By The River
Cabin By The River
If you are looking for a 5 star hotel with room service and a view of the city at night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place where you can sit for hours on end, feel the breeze on your face, hear the birds and bees all around you, and be put to sleep by the sound of a flowing river right outside your window, this is the place for you. This small cabin was just what my soul needed. I work in a very high-stress environment and needed to get away to refill my soul with peace and serenity. I took some books to read, but didn't read them. I took some movies to watch, but didn't watch them.. I found that I spent the majority of my time sitting on the deck finding my way back to me. I was able to reconnect with myself and came back to 'reality' feeling so much better than when I left. If you are looking for some quiet time for yourself or, if you have a loved one you want to re-connect with, this is the place for you. Go on, step away from the high-stress of everyday living and enjoy some time with nature. You won't regret it.

Owner response: Cheryl....you hit the nail on the head. This was exactly what I was trying to create and what the cabin had done for me....reconnect me to nature and to myself away from the hustle and craziness of everyday life. It is truly a joy to just BE and reconnect in such a beautiful way. I am SO glad you came and please come back soon. Anita

We've rented Anita's cabin a couple of times now and definitely plan to come back again. It has everything you need- great big porch, fully stocked kitchen for cooking, and really comfortable furnishings. I love the look and feel of it, and we feel right at home there! She also has netflix now which is great! Highly recommend!

This cabin was absolutely perfect for our weekend getaway! It was close to town and easy to get to shops and restaurants and also close to the wineries for a little afternoon fun! The weather was perfect and I could imagine that it would be amazing for a summer weekend. The river and scenery was absolutely beautiful and we will definitely be back!

Our second stay at this wonderful cabin. Very cozy, quiet, and peaceful. Also very tastefully decorated and the bed is quite comfortable. Would have given it an excellent rating if it had been warmer. It has a finiky gas fireplace you are instructed not to touch and a couple of small portable heaters. Chilli!

Owner response: Thanks Andy! The gas logs really do heat up the cabin, but have to have some specific instructions due to the fact that some of the folks turn them OFF and then the pilot light has to be relit. It IS a small cabin and all and all stays pretty warm unless the temperatures drop to the 20's which is rare. I hope you will return again and I can be sure the logs are cut up a bit higher. Thanks so much for your business and your review! Anita
Had a wonderful experience, Had all the amenities of home. The owner left lots of info in a packet and emailed to make sure everything was satisfactory. Everything was just as described in the listing. It was perfect for the 3 days we were there. Will definately choose this property again. Thanks

What a wonderful getaway! We live very busy lives. Your cabin was just what we needed to have some relaxing fun. We fished from the deck, listened to some music and watched the river flow. When it was time to come in for the evening, it was so lovely! The decor was PERFECT! Everything we needed was there. We felt like we were in a luxury cabin. Great job! Looking forward to a fall trip!
