Gentian was the most charming cottage we have stayed in through the years, in our many visits to Ireland. Ann & Colin were delightful! The tour of Ballinlackin is not to be missed. Frank & Marion, were exceptional...filling in for Ann & Colin while they were away. There is nothing to change...a bit of heaven on earth is that & more. We will return! Jim & Polly

Absolutely Amazing!

This was absolutely the best guest-house experience I have ever had. The cottage was exactly as pictured, except that the photos cannot do it justice. We found it to be spacious and clean and lovely in every particular. I've stayed in several holiday homes over the years, and Ann was far and away the best host I've met in any of my travels. Several times during the course of our stay, she went out of her way to make us feel welcome and at home, even coming over in a rainstorm to deliver a take-away menu when we were craving Chinese. : ) I have recommended this property to many friends, and - if time is kind - intend to make my way back to Ireland in a year or two, and will be staying at Gentian Cottage again at that time. From our home base at the cottage, we were able to explore Doolin Cave, The Cliffs of Moher, Poulnabrone Dolmen, Ennis, Galway, and many more of the beautiful things that draw me back to Ireland. Thanks, Ann, for giving us a place to call home while in County Clare.

A wonderful relaxing week in County Clare

Our family of 5 stayed at the Gentian Cottage in June for one week. We stayed there in week two of a six week dream trip through portions of Europe. The practical aspects of the cottage are many. We had everything we needed to make our stay easy and fun, from board games to modern appliances. The cottage is centrally located whether you wish to day trip to Connemara, Galway, or points south. But the cottage is so lovely that you will want a day or two to just lounge and do nothing but takes hikes or naps. Even more wonderful was our hostess. Ann welcomed us with the basic essentials stocked in the fridge and was very helpful throughout the week whether with travel advice or other assistance. In all of our six weeks including Paris, Italy and the UK, no other rental compared. We look forward to returning not only to Ireland, but to the Cottage again. Thank you Ann.

My experience at the Gentian proved most charming and hosptitable. It was my favorite place I have stayed abroad. Many modern conviences were provided without losing that cozy and warm feeling. The owners felt like family and could not have been more accomodating. Most appreciated were the amazing views from every window of the home. The location was great. Gentian Cottage was wonderful. My 3 generation family stayed here in June, '09 for a week ( wished it could have been longer) The hostess was very accomodating; checking to make sure everything was okay. The cows; which my grandson loved, greeted us each morning. The sunsets were phenominal. Loved this place!!

We were looking for a scenic and relaxing home away from home…a place that gave us a jumping off point to explore the beauty of Ireland. Well, Gentian was everything we hoped for! Our hosts were extremely warm and helpful. Especially enjoyed the views and the sod fireplace. Good food and music nearby, and fast Internet at the Doolin Activity Center. We highly recommend Gentian and hope we can get back there in the future.

The setting is sublime, the views breathtaking, the cottage is cozy and perfect and your welcome package after a long drive was very much appreciated.

We spent a wonderful week at Gentian Cottage in June 2007. The house was perfect for 3 couples and the hostess very gracious. We loved having the cows nearby - especially a bull we called Amos. Gorgeous views of Galway Bay greeted us each morning. Highly recommended!!! Patricia DeHaan

Gentian Cottage is an awesome place to stay. Very clean and comfortable and welcoming. We would stay here again if we returned to Ireland. The view is lovely. It is a very peaceful place to stay. Doolin has restaurants and pubs nearby when you want to go out.
