The cottage, tucked away in the woods, offers the comforts of home within its rustic modern interior. A wall of windows on the main floor provides sweeping views of long-range mountains and treetops. The screened porch is an ideal spot for reading, dining, playing games, or watching the moon rise over the mountains. When the weather turns chilly, relax with a soak in the hot tub under the stars.
The kitchen is outfitted with updated appliances and finishes. Enjoy breakfast and coffee at the stainless steel island or at the table for eight overlooking the long-range mountain view.
The master bedroom on the main floor features a king-size bed and a 42" flat panel TV with DVD player. Included in the master suite is a travertine bathroom with an antique clawfoot tub and separate shower.
The second bedroom is downstairs with a queen-size bed and adjoining private bathroom finished in stone and glass tile. A pack-n-play crib and toddler bed also are in this bedroom.
Children love to sleep in the bunkroom, also located downstairs. Four twin beds and an adjoining bathroom complete the bunkroom suite. Each bunk features its own nightlight for reading.
The second living space downstairs features cozy seating and a 42" flat panel TV with DVD player.
The cottage is conveniently located in Waynesville and is close to skiing in Maggie Valley and the attractions of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Cherokee and Asheville are 30 minutes away. Even with its wooded privacy, the cottage is only a 10-minute drive from charming downtown Waynesville.

Our family of four stayed at The Cottage in August, 2011 and had a wonderful time. The Cottage seems to have been recently remodeled with everything spic and span, painted, and decorated just beautifully. We loved the wall of glass windows in the living area. The dining area has great views of the hot tub and the valley below. While we didn't feel any bugs, the screen room is wonderful for evening conversations and early breakfasts. At night, the hot tub was the perfect end to a day of exploring. We visited Waynesville (very quaint) and Asheville. We would come back to stay again in a minute!

Everything described about this cottage and all photos were accurate. It was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. The mountain views were stunning. It was a perfect peaceful get away, yet close to everything....Asheville, white water rafting, Smoky Mt. National Park and the nice restaurants and shops in Waynesville. We highly recommend this cottage to everyone.

We were lucky enough to stay here for a week in early May of this year. When you book these rental homes, you really never know what you will get despite looking at the pictures. I have to say, however, that this cottage, by far, exceeded our expectations. I haven't normally taken the time to write reviews in the past, but in this case I had to. We felt like we were staying in a home that had recently been featured in "Better Homes and Gardens" or "House Beautiful." You can tell that the owners recently renovated the entire home, so despite it's extreme charm, it is thoroughly modern as well. And you can tell the pride of ownership in the quality of the finishes and fixtures throughout. In my opinion, they did not finish this home as a rental, but as a high end home they would spend a lot of time in as well. For example, the interior doors are beautiful solid paneled doors with quality knobs. The beautifully restored flooring, wooden beam ceilings and stone fireplaces are gorgeous. The furnishings are so comfortable and the way the interior design was thought out was just to drool over. I loved how the home "felt" so much that I had to ask whether the owner was available to consult on interior design for our home. The kids had such fun sleeping in the uniquely designed bunk beds and we were ultra comfortable in our king sized bed. It was very clean and had a wonderful fresh smell throughout. Each bathroom was beautiful in its own way, the master with its copper sink and claw-foot tub, another with beautiful glass tiles and sconces, and yet another full bath with a cool vessel sink. To go on, there are gigantic windows in the living room which fill the living area with a ton of beautiful natural light and allow you to experience the views of the mountains without obstruction. We spent many mornings out on the deck in the morning watching the sun rise over the mountains in the distance. We also played games at the table in the breezy screened in porch while enjoying the view. I just can't say enough good things about our experience in the cottage. It was literally the best vrbo experience we have ever had, and we have stayed in a lot of rental vacation homes. This home had such a comfortable, "cottagey", yet modern and artistic feel. We are already planning a stay for the fall.

We are just home from our time in Waynesville and already talking about when we can get back to the cottage. The photos here are completely accurate, but what you can't see is that the cottage is absolutely spotless. And there is no way to do justice to the view in photos - we truly walked through the front door, looked out the wall of windows and were speechless. It is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. From the roses by the back stairs to the swing hanging between the trees, every detail has been thought of and is perfect. The fact that the road is paved all the way to the cottage is also a major plus for us, as was the fact that the cottage is very secluded, and yet only a short drive to town. It is perfect in every way.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is beautifully furnished throughout and has an incredible view. We relaxed in the hot tub in the evenings with the stars overhead and nothing to be heard but the wind rustling through the trees. The cottage is secluded yet only about a ten minute drive to shopping. The house was very clean and looks just like the pictures on VRBO. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone coming to this area. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. We traveled throughout the Smoky Mountains and really enjoyed visiting the Biltmore and Grandfather Mountain. We also enjoyed the waterfalls in the Dupont State Forest.

You did a beautiful job of renovating our former home! There is excellent hiking just up the mountain with easy rock-climbing available and views of the Blue Ridge Partway and the Eastern parts of the Great Smokies. On a clear day you can see Mount Mitchell! Wild Blueberries on top of the ridge during the Summer. Enjoy staying there as much as we did living there for almost 30 years.
Owner response:Good to hear from you, Gary & Meredith! Thank you for all the tips. We LOVE, LOVE the house--especially the stone work and timber ceilings. So happy you approve of what we've done to make it home. :)
