We were searching for a nice place to retire. After searching all over Western North Carolina we settled in Maggie Valley. There was just something about this small town we really liked. Friendly people and small town living. My husband was a telephone repairman and I was a nurse. We worked hard to get where we are today. We have yours, mine and ours children. Four daughters and so proud of each one of them. We have two grandsons.
Linda Cherven purchased this cabin in 2012
We bought this cabin when we first arrived in Maggie Valley. We have enjoyed the years we lived in the cabin and made many friends seasonally and permanently. When summer comes it is like a "summer retreat." We still live in Maggie Valley. I wanted to keep this cabin and let others make great memories and enjoy what we had experienced.
You are looking up at the mountains which means you can bike or walk anywhere especially to the restaurants, park across from Campbell Creek, churches, etc. Since it is a one story house there are only two steps in garage into the kitchen. Having a garage when it rains or snows is excellent and easy to bring in groceries. We get a nice breeze during the spring/summer/fall months.... hardly used the A/C. But it is there for you if you need it. It is a nice setting and you can hear the church chimes during the day from your screened-in porch. Minutes to casino in Cherokee and lots of places to go visit .... Gatlinburg, Asheville, etc. We are motorcycle friendly with a garage to store you bikes.
This cabin was perfect! It had everything we needed and more! Very clean and cozy. This cabin was definitely our "home away from home". There was plenty of room for our dog to run around. We even saw elk in the back the first morning we were there! It's also in the perfect location!! We will definitely be back!!
I stayed here November 10-13 for my first visit to Maggie Valley and could not have been more pleased with the cabin. The location was perfect - close to town, yet seemed secluded.
The cabin was fully stocked with everything needed for a home away from home. The huge screened in back porch was my favorite place to be.
There are so many restaurants and shops so close to the cabin. Also, Waterrock Knob offered an excellent view of the area. I also visited Soco Falls up the road, as well as Looking Glass Falls and the Biltmore Estate. This cabin has so much to do around it, and is perfect for coming back to relax after running around. The fireplace was awesome, and there were even several DVDs to watch.
The owners were great to deal with, responding quickly to my questions. Every time I return to Maggie Valley, I will check this cabin for availability!
I stayed at the "Log cabin with Country feel and awesome views" with three friends (ages ranged from 21 to late 50s) for our fall ladies getaway. The cabin description on VRBO, making the reservation, communications regarding directions and cabin access, greeting when we arrived, our stay at the cabin, information about what to see while in Maggie Valley and surrounding areas, and well wishes for our travels home....it was all excellent!
The cabin was very clean, I'm told the beds were comfortable (being the short one, I was delegated to the couch which was also comfy); the kitchen is well equipped modern, and spacious; the showers were great; the view from the nice screened back porch were indeed awesome; and the cabin most certainly offered a country feel. It was obvious that Linda and Dennis thoughtfully furnished and decorated the cabin...everything about it, including the note on the little chalkboard, said "welcome." Not to be overlooked, because it is critical for me....there is a very nice fire pit with a picnic table and folding chairs for sitting around the fire. Also, while we didn't have a need to use it, the garage was spacious and would have been easy to park a vehicle in.
For those with mobility issues....the cabin is accessed via 4-5 steps. It can also be accessed through the garage but I have to admit that I didn't pay attention to the number of steps needed to enter via the garage....I'm confident that it's less than four.
For those who don't like to drive steep, winding, narrow dirt roads to get to their cabin, no worries....the cabin is very easy to access from Highway 19.
For those who need nearby restaurants....there are several within a few minutes drive.
There are only two types of people who would remotely have an issue with the cabin. First, those who must have a cabin that sits in a location where no neighbors are in sight....this cabin is in a quiet residential/cabin rental area (most cabins in Maggie Valley are). And second, those who can't handle the sound of dogs barking...that's what dogs, especially country dogs do. The neighbor's dogs were awesome....very playful and friendly!
Bottom line....the cabin exceeded our expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return for another visit. As a matter of fact, I hope to do so next spring.
It was awesome great view seen elk , deer and beautiful view
Had a great time cabin was great everything you need and owners even check in next day to make sure everything is ok looking forward to next year
This home has everything needed to be comfortable. We were here for a week of riding motorcycles in the mountains and we loved it. The house was so relaxing after a day in the hills, the garage was wonderful for housing the bikes, and we couldn't have imagined needing anything better. Thanks so much for sharing.
We have stayed in numerous properties in the Waynesville/Maggie Valley area over the past few years, and this was by far the one we found to be the most accommodating. The location is convenient, the view is stunning and the facilities are most welcoming to people of a certain age group(Old Folks). I would certainly consider, and probably will rent this property again.
Location is great for many Maggie Valley attractions. There is always something going on at the Festival Grounds, Ghost Town in the Sky, a lot of places to eat, hiking, Motorcycle rallies. Walk the streets of downtown Waynesville. You also can venture out for the day to the Casino in Cherokee or walk the town of Cherokee and visit the shops... then to other towns over the Smokys to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge to Dollywood. Asheville also has events through the summer.
