Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2003

We have lived in Glen Haven since 1981 and wouldn't live anywhere else. Glen Haven is a small, private community, outside of Estes Park.It is so beautiful and peaceful with the sound of the river at our doorstep. There are easy trails into the forest following the sound of the river along the way.

Why the Owner Chose Glen Haven

We fell in love with the log cabin and bought it within a few hours of it being put on the market. Having a home up the road, we wanted to have another place to rent out when family and friends were not visiting.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

The best thing about the Glen is the sound of the river and the peacefulness of the community. New bathroom and wood floors throughout as of Feb. 2010.

A well stocked house for a quiet getaway

Guest: JerryTexas (Weimar, Texas USA)
Date of Stay: 05/16/11 Review Submitted: 05/26/11

We recently spent three nights at HobertHaven and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We went in late spring but the weather decided it was winter and gave us about 8 inches of snow before we departed. That was okay as it provided a perfect scenery for playing cards and cooking together and listening to some of the great classical music that is provided in the cabin. We were able to explore Estes Park and Loveland during our time there and found a good restaurant in Loveland to enjoy. It is not too far to Boulder from there either and on our way out we stopped there to look around and have lunch at the Tea House which is a great treat. I want to return in the summer or fall sometimes and have time to do some hiking in Rocky Mt. National Park which is just minutes away from the cabin. Although we have been to this area repeated times over the years, one can always find some new trail or area to explore. The beauty of the region is unsurpassed and there are many animals to catch one's eye if you are looking for them. We spotted a small bird called a Ruby Crowned Kinglet and, thanks to all the good nature books in the cabin, were able to identify it before we left. The cabin is well equipped with everything one might need in order to enjoy your time away. Many spices and supplies make cooking easy so you just need to stop at the grocery store on your way in and buy your food and then you can cook as you desire. I enjoy cooking and my wife enjoys what I cook so we have a perfect combination and loved sitting on the deck with coffee overlooking the river down below and listening to its quiet roar going past us, that is what true relaxation means to us. I would recommend to anyone who may want a perfect place for a getaway in nature's bounty to think about coming to HobertHaven. Thanks to Ken and Marsha for providing this wonderful place for others to enjoy.

Owner response:It is a wonderful, cozy place and we are so lucky to have wonderful people who come to enjoy HobertHaven!

Wonderful vacation cabin in the mountains

Guest: Gerald & Julie (Atlanta)
Date of Stay: 07/17/10 Review Submitted: 10/04/10

We spent a week at the Hobarthaven cabin in mid-July this past summer and thoroughly enjoyed it! The area is spectacular, with Rocky Mountain National Park nearby, but I think we enjoyed the cabin and surrounding area as much as the park. It was a nice diversion from the very "touristy" area in the town of Estes Park, and we would highly recommend it!

After the chaos and stress of trying to plan a wedding, this was the perfect place for our honeymoon! The sights and sounds were phenominal! We saw big horn by the Alluvial Fan, elk everywhere, moose on the Grand Lake side of Trail Ridge Rd., a bobcat, fox, and a bear on our way home last night! Big footprint on the deck our 2nd day here. Also another "cat like" animal on our hike out back! Your hospitality and the fresh flowers were anything by ordinary! Sad to leave but will return sometime. -- June 7-14, 2009

We had 4 perfect nights at your charming cabin. We wouldn't change a thing. We love the views, river sounds and cozy comfort. I especially like your lovely handmade quilt!! We are so thankful you are willing to share your treasured cabin with us. It will remain in our memories forever along with your welcoming personalities. Thank you to the people who recommended trails. We followed their advice and loved the diversity of the walks. we especially liked Lumpy Mountain and the Fern trail. We got great moose pictures and had perfect weather. -- Excelsior, MN, June 22, 2009

Not sure of the date. That's how good a vacation this was. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay here. When my job took us away from Colorado, we were heartbroken. Your lovely cabin was just the medicine needed. The mountain breeze blowing the scent of roasting pine needles through the window is so refreshing. (Wish I could bottle it.) Flickering aspen leaves, the darting hummingbirds and the melodic cadence of the river made for a perfect week. I even caught 3 fish. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -- Grand Rapids, MI, July 1, 2009

Welcome get-away

Guest: Helen in Denver (denver, co)
Date of Stay: 08/02/08 Review Submitted: 08/12/08

My son and I needed to escape Denver's heat and were glad to find the cabin on a cancellation. While we would have preferred two beds, rather than one bed + one futon, it was fine. It was advertised with Internet connection, but I didn't grasp that this meant Dial-Up so i wasn't prepared and couldn't use my computer. There is no TV, and that's OK. The owner told me she plans to get a DVD player soon. We were happy to watch a movie on VHS, but I think we would have preferred more movie choices. The setting is lovely, very quiet except for the stream, which is a lovely sound. Renters choose this place because it is so NOT Estes Park and in a crowd, but more the traditional mountain cabin.
