New Home - Walking Distance to the Wai 'Opae Tide Pools

Paradise awaits you at this brand new, charming home that sleeps five comfortably. The Master bedroom has a king size bed and a private bathroom, the second bedroom has a queen size bed and access to a shared bathroom, and the small den has a full size sleeper sofa if needed. All rooms have access to the wrap-around lanai that features ceiling fans, hammocks, dining furniture, lounge chairs and a tiki bar. For your grilling pleasure, there is a full sized gas grill on the lanai and if you feel adventurous, you can do a kalua pig “traditional style” using the imu pit.
The house has an open feel, with ceiling fans throughout. It has a modern, fully equipped kitchen, featuring stainless steel appliances, a long center island that can accommodate up to six at the breakfast bar in addition to the dining area.
The living room has a 32” flat screen TV, DVD player, satellite tv, and a nice collection of DVD movies.
Forgot to bring your mask and snorkel? No worries! We have some you can use, because a short walk from the house is the best snorkeling on the Big Island - the Wai ’Opae Tide Pools. The offshore reef protects the tide pools from the sometimes-harsh southeastern shores of Hawaii. As you explore the maze of pools, you will find corals, schools of juvenile fish, moray eels, sea urchins, sea turtles, etc… It is like being in an aquarium! When you come home from the tide pools, there is an outside shower you can use to rinse off.
If you are looking for a romantic getaway, or a family looking to spend quality time together, our home offers something for everyone in paradise.

This place was just wonderful - the house was set up very thoughtfully, with a great kitchen that had everything we needed. The porch was a great place to hang out on, with hammocks and lounge chairs. Thank you for having a washer dryer available, it really helped us not to need to bring as much stuff with us. The tide pools that are a short walk away from the property are so much fun to snorkel in! We saw tons of fish, sea urchins, coral, eels, and even a big sea turtle.Did you find this review helpful? This home was perfect. Clean and everything you would need for cooking, relaxing and exploring the area. I liked it because they didn't charge extra for each person over 2 including children like a lot of these places. The bikes were great because due to back problems I couldn't walk far but I found I could ride a bike with no pain. I would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We cannot say enough about our stay at this beautiful home. Everything was as described and more, and the home was immaculate upon arrival. There are two spacious bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a living area and a separate alcove sleeping area. Everything you could possibly want is provided for - towels (for the beach and home), soap, shampoo/conditioner, cookware, condiments, cleaning supplies, etc. During the day we had fun riding the bikes around the neighborhood and snorkeling in the nearby tide pools (we even saw a giant sea turtle!). At night, we enjoyed eating dinner outside on the patio and relaxing in the hammocks. The only minor issues were that the wifi was spotty and hot water in the shower was limited, but other than that it was a fantastic stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We had a great time and just wished that we had been able to stay longer. The home is beautiful and had everything we wanted to make our stay enjoyable. The tidepools are just a short walk from the house and are amazing for snorkeling in. The coqui frogs are a bit loud on a moonlit night, so you may want to bring some earplugs along. A trip to Uncle Robert's farmers market in Kalapani is a must.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We had the pleasure of staying at this very modern home in Kapoho. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of room to lounge inside and out. The bedrooms have LCD TVs with built-in DVD players and library of movies to watch. The livingroom area has a larger LCD with satellite and separate DVD. WiFi internet is available as well. Some of the electronic gadgets weren't connected properly which I was able to easily fix, but make sure to check them before the housekeeper leaves if don't care to fiddle with them. I would suggest using house slippers as the floors were a little dusty but not to the eye. There are a lot of sporting items available including paddle boards, noodles, snorkel gear, two adult-size mountain bikes, camp chairs, and water shoes. Access to the tide pools is about two blocks away and reef fishing is about a block away marked by a parking sign for day-use. Make sure to use the water shoes as sandals are very slippery when wet and your feet will slide off the sandal and into the sharp lava rock (speaking from experience... ouch!). I managed to catch a rock fish with a hook and bobber but set him free. The area is riddled with fresh water springs. This home doesn't have one but many of the other homes have them as a feature of the property. They look like tide pools and have fish in them. We had a surprisingly good time walking around the neighborhood during trips to and from the tide pools. Coqui frogs offer a constant serenade and brilliant green spotted geckos abound. The weather is a little warmer compared to another home we stayed at on the sea cliffs at Paradise Park a few miles to the north, but there was much less daytime rain during our stay. This home is close to the volcanic park, and you pass Lava Tree on the way in. The only inconvenience is the distance from Hilo for shopping and other tourist stuff. We were very happy to stay here and would do so again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

This home is perfect and highly recommended. It is a short walk to the tidal pools. Be sure to visit the channel pools furthest south as the best coral and fish viewing is there (go about 2 hours before high tide). Every local we met was friendly, although it seems many of the properties here are vacation rentals. Of the nearby vacation rentals, this one looks to be one of the newest and best. The kitchen is beautiful and we ended up making bread and cookies. All the appliances are brand new and high end. A lot of thought has gone into making this place feel at home, and the owners have prepared a great guidebook describing nearby points of interest. We used it almost every day. The area is quiet, apart from the frogs at night! :-). We also picked fresh papayas in the front yard. There are wrap around windows, 3 separate sleeping areas, the large kitchen and dining area and the living room. There is also a third floor loft area, but the stairway to it was removed (probably for the safety of our 3 kids, possibly they keep it open for renters without children?). The exterior deck encircles the entire second floor and is covered all around, with two hammocks, some easy chairs and a BBQ. Very highly recommend. We are going to miss this place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This rental was exactly as advertised. Beautiful location with easy access to tide pools for some great snorkling. There are plenty of activities on the Big Island to take advantage of from the beautiful black sand beaches to the waterfalls in Hilo. The house itself was very clean, nice kitchen, comfortable beds, plenty of beach towels, and huge assortment of dvds-if you can stay awake to watch them. The nearby town of Pahoa has good restaurants and a couple of markets. We highly recommend this location for your vacation!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Top shelf. The house was perfect. The high quality of everything really impressed us. From cabinets to appliances to bathrooms, everything was beautiful. Best of all was the book. It was like our own personal tour guide. We did most everything in it. We caught a frog, 3 lizards in the yard and the kids thought that was fantastic. My daughter wanted the coconut and so we got it open and she enjoyed it. We loved the place and would recommend it to others.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
