Conveniently located near popular area attractions and outdoor activities, Fern Creek Cabins offer year round, affordable vacation lodging in the beautiful mountains of southern West Virginia. Our cabins sit on 40 private acres of pristine hemlock forrest near the north rim of the New River Gorge National River..
For those who just want to relax, Fern Creek Cabins offers plenty of space to roam about the property. Our cabins have comfortable porches equipped with grills and hot tubs, outdoor fire pits, and lots of beautiful yard space for throwing horseshoes or playing softball. The one room cabin also has access to a sauna.
Fern Creek Cabins is the perfect setting for an outdoor reception whether you’re having a small group or a large gathering. There is plenty of room to set up tables or canopies for food, music, or whatever your occasion calls for.
We welcome well behaved pets, we are equine friendly, and we ask our guests to not smoke in our cabins.
While our 2 cabin's share the peaceful seclusion of the Appalachians, it is but a few short miles over New River Gorge Bridge to downtown Fayetteville, named 'Coolest Small Town in America.' Come visit, and take a walk around. You’ll find a vibrant shopping district and fantastic restaurants, windows to browse with lots to buy, and a lovely town park.
'Endless Wall Trail' lies a mile around the corner which tours one of the wonders of the New River Gorge -- the unbroken cliffline known as the Endless Wall, which follows the rim of the gorge and offers access to dozens of bolted climbing routes. Breathtaking panoramas await hikers as the trail leads along the top of the cliffs through gnarled pines, mossy boulders, and rhododendron thickets.

Came with 5 others for a 2 night stay. A lot of open space. No one was renting the larger cabin near by so it was only us, very quiet area. Hot tub worked as should. Did not try out sauna though. If you're looking for a little bad woods country get away, consider this. Cabin is equipped with many necessities that you could easily forget for an extended stay. Many great attractions within close range. As for cons, consider bringing your own bug/bee spray. Quiet a few nests near by from what I noticed walking around the cabin. The road leading to the actual cabin is gravel, long, windy and is a car suspensions worst nightmare, go slow. I'd also recommend to the owners to clear out falling trees near the road that are only being kept off the road by the side fencing or other tree limbs. All of us highly agreed the bathroom needs an exhaust fan as well. The deck in the back is still unfinished. One side has posts finished, the other side of the deck needs nails put into the middle sections so they don't lean or fall out of the deck rails, just looks bad. In all, for the price, it's a great place for a couple day get-away! I would recommend it to friends.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

I stayed here with my 5 year old for a girls get away and I could not have picked a better place. The cabin was very comfortable, furnished with everything you need in the kitchen. The stars were magnificent and the hot tub worked wonderfully. Enjoyed evenings and mornings soaking in the hot tub with ultimate privacy. Wonderful place to get away from cell phones and life in general. I wouldn't suggest it if your children do not like nature. These cabins are wonderful but not for those who want to be around other people. If you're looking for a get-away to avoid everyone and enjoy nature and spending time with loved ones, you will love these cabins!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Just a few hours from home but felt like we had died and went to Heaven. I can't complain about anything! Not at all as described. I was expecting a decent place. There was no trampoline, basketball hoop, horse shoes as described on the new and gauley river website that i booked from. There was one window AC unit but the connection with the window was non existent, which resulted in poor cooling performance. There was a hole next to the AC unit in the window big enough for a raccoon to get through. The barrel sauna was full of wasps. The worst part by far was the hundreds of stinging wasps, hornets, yellow jackets and etc that called this place their home. The roof was decomposing on the outside and this attracted alot of wasps and etc to build nests in it. There was a huge yellow jacket nest under the front porch. My girlfriend was stung three times on the first day. After that we just used the rear entrance as there weren't as many stinging creatures there. I have never in my life seen a place so badly infested as this one was. The place next door seemed fine though, their roof appeared new. I personally went out and bought wasp killer and killed roughly 50 or so stinging insects. I collected their bodies and put in a ziploc bag that i gave to my rafting company's management. All they did was reimburse me for the wasp killer. If anyone is allergic to stinging insects do not stay here if you value your life. Worst experience ever!!!!!!!!!Owner response: The website where Ken got the info about the trampoline and basketball court was an older listing on someone elses site. It has since been removed. I am sorry for any confusion. (the trampoline was removed for insurance reasons). As far as the bees are concerned, my family and I went there this week and stayed. The bees were pretty bad. I spent a good amount of time getting rid of them. I talked to some local people as well as the workers in Lowes where we bought the bee spray. They said this was the worst year they can remember. They feel it is because of the mild winter and hot spring. I am sorry for any inconvenience and pain this has caused our guests and will try to stay on top of the problem. As to the condition of the one room cabin, I feel the pictures on the site reflect the condition of the cabins. The roof is close to the end of its life and will most likely be replaced this winter, although this has absolutely nothing to do with the bee problem. I am sorry that Ken did not have a good time in West Virginia. I know how precious vacation time is. Our goal is to provide a safe and peaceful place to enjoy nature and the beauty of Gods creation. This was obviously not his experience and for that I am truly sorry. Sincerely, Thomas Atack Note: We have since hired an exterminator to spray for the bees. He guarantees we'll be rid of bees for one year:)

I've stayed twice now at the Fern Creek property. This second time I rented the larger cabin and found it to be comfortable, spacious, inviting and well-appointed--just like the smaller cabin beside it. Our family gathers each year in this little corner of paradise to reminisce about our WV childhood and explore the region. Fern Creek is ideally located for our needs. We golfed, hiked, shopped, swam, and visited other relatives--all without having to drive more than a few miles. The best part of this rental is that, though it's very handy for enjoying the outdoors activities around it, the meadow itself is so quiet and remote that you'd think you were the only folks in the whole county! The smell of the wild roses, the dark red interior of the living room, the song of the mocking bird, the occasional sighting of a jake turkey or a yearling fawn, the blanket of stars overhead at night, the distant echo of the train down in the gorge, the peeping of the tree frogs down by the pond, the porch swing, the screen doors... All these little details remind me of my Grandmother's home, her simple lifestyle. Even if you come to Fayette County to raft or rock climb, you will appreciate the luxury of the stress-free, non-technical, slower pace of living at Fern Creek. Tom, Everyone had a wonderful time during our stay at your cabin. It was the first time for all of us (with the exeption of 1) to stay in a cabin, having marshmellows at the firepit, whitewater rafting, etc. We all agreed this is one of the highlights of our lives!:-) It is something we will never forget and definitely we plan to come back again. In addition, I've already referred your company to a couple of my friends. Thank you for accomodating us, including our dog Sydney. We plan to stay there again for our future outdoor adventure plans to WV next year. Sincerely, PamelaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a wonderful time at the small cabin last month, and are really looking forward to a stay in the larger cabin this upcoming weekend. This trip, we'll be hitting the links over at Fayetteville, as well as taking several hikes in the area. This is the birthplace of our parents. My cousins and I spent many happy days with our grandparents in the hills and dales of Fayette County, WV, and we enjoy convening together there whenever we can. Your cabins remind me of where our grandmother lived, with its serene locale and country charm. Thank you, GwynDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
