Lake access with lakefront view. We are now booking 2013 after a very successsful first year of rental in 2012. Several guests have booked again in 2013 and a number of weeks are already taken. Don't miss your opportunity to stay in an historic property that that was once an elementary school, then an Inn, B&B and Restaurant for many years, operating as the BroadAx Inn and the Elf School Inn. The building has been renovated and converted into two PRIVATE, seperate living units. The West Unit is NOT RENTED unless a family or group wants to RENT BOTH for a wedding, reunion or group event. The East Unit is 3,250 square feet and has all the space and amenities you are looking for. There are three bedrooms. The large Master BR has a king bed, private full bath with jetted tub and seperate shower, wood burning stove and a queen sleeper. It also has large windows with lake and mountain views. The second bedroom has a queen bed, private bath and same view as the master. The third bedroom has two twin beds, private bath and same view. There is a private entrance, from the front parking that enters a large foyer. One end of the foyer is a small sitting/sunroom. The other end of the foyer has a queen sleeper sofa. Adjacent to the foyer, are two baths. One has a double sink and two water closets. The other has a shower and doubles as a laundry room with a stacked washer/dryer. Off the left side of the foyer is a large recreation/living room with a pool table, sofa group, large TV and entertainment area. Off the other side of the foyer, is a hallway that goes past the three bedrooms and baths. At the end of the hall is a large great room with full Kitchen, bar, dining table for eight and a small seating area with TV and DVD. This room has large windows and opens onto a covered porch with great lake and mountain view. The porch has seating for relaxing and/or dining. There is a gas grill for BBQing. Off the porch, is a large lawn for lawn sports, horseshoe and a swing for relaxing and enjoying the view.

Our family of six had an abundance of space for our late-in-the-planning trip to Lake Chatuge, and we loved Elf School Lodge the moment we came upon the building on the hill and nicely landscaped entrance. The history of the place--a former school--made for lots of great storytelling about ghosts and little footsteps that I "heard" at night. If you're one big family or a few, you're going to have several options for dining and hanging out and not being all over each other. Kitchen and premium outdoor grill served us well for dinners in. Rec room near the entrance with giant TV and pool table brought us together every night for tournaments and family time. TVs in bedrooms for lounging and being lazy. Pontoon included in rental was a giant plus. If you're thinking about it, this is the place. We drove our brood to the dock since we were hauling stuff for the day but you could walk down. Kids sometimes walked home from the boat outings. Gas for the pontoon goes quick if you're exploring all over (maybe plan for $50 a day and be sure you know the day the nearby Chatuge Cove Marina (closed Tuesdays, I think). Be sure you know the oil/gas mixture so the guy filling it gets it right. Loved to beach the boat on little islands and explore. There were small sandy beaches in different spots. Or drop anchor and just jump off the boat and float in the water. Just a terrific change of pace that did what vacations are supposed to do: bring you out of your routine to make you appreciate what you have, who you have and what nature provides us. Beautiful sunsets and green hills and mountains as far as you can see. If you wonder what a mountain lake vacation is all about, this is a great place to start. Outstanding and attentive owner cared about our stay and the fun factor. I highly recommend this property. I can see us coming back. Would be a sweet place for a bunch of couples to get away.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Terrific rental, the pictures and descriptions on the website are true to life. Clean and comfortable. Having a pontoon boat to rent, ready to go, very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay in the lake house. Thanks for a great time!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We had a fabulous stay at the elf school. We had lots of room to spread out and really enjoyed the views from the porch of the mountains. We loved being able to go out on the pontoon boat. Everyone loved it and we can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

House was perfect. Lots of open space, close to the lake. Great bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen. Large great room was perfect gathering space at the end of the day - Large yard area for kids to play when not swimming. Ready to book for next year. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: We live nearby in Helen, Georgia and own this property as well as another adjacent house that we have been renting on VRBO for four years.
Why the Owner Chose Hayesville:
We really enjoy mountain lakes, particularly Lake Chatuge and the North Carolina side of the lake. There is a lot of TVA and National Forest with great mountain views. There are many very good restaurants and activities in the area and some are available via the lake. This property sits on 4 & 1/2 acres with a large lawn area. It is also a great property for weddings, reunions and group events.
