If you are looking for a peaceful vacation at the beach-- you've found the right spot. We've designed our apartments to be comfortable-- perfect for a few nights, or a longer stay.
Our small, five unit complex is right on the Gulf, with spacious, tropical gardens, beach front patios and grills, and an individual sun patio to call your own, complete with table, chairs, and umbrella. Relax and read the paper in the mornings, or enjoy supper and watch the sunset.
The interior is newly redecorated with a tropical flair, including paint, carpet, and new rattan furniture in the bedroom, dining room, and living area- but we've kept and reupholstered everyone's favorite vintage easy chairs. Be sure to look at our framed collection of black and white beach photos taken on the property in the 1930's and 1940's.
The bedroom has a king-sized bed and walk-in closet, but we can provide twin beds if you would prefer (no charge). The queen size sleeper sofa in the living room accommodates two more people comfortably.
The Cafe on the Beach for all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts, casual lunches, and relaxing dinners is jsut a few steps away. Grocery stores and restaurants are 3 blocks away, and the free trolley will take you up and down the Island.
Ask about our four other rental units on the same property-- two of the units are identical to this one, with slightly different views-- we are the perfect spot for families traveling together! Family owned since 1971.

A good friend & I were looking for a 3 day escape & the Bamboo Apartments fit our needs perfectly! The property is old FL, built in 1916, and beautifully maintained. Mother & daughter owners, Gladys & Alice, were both very helpful. Alice helped us put this trip together in 3 days & Gladys, who lives in one of the apartments, was available to answer questions and give us a tour of two of the open units. A LOT of history and charm; we felt warmly welcomed our entire stay! The pictures depict the native & manicured landscaping (as well as the rooms) perfectly. There are several areas to relax and enjoy the view while having either morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. There are paths to the powder white beach that has shells galore & beautiful sunset views. As for places to eat: The Cafe on the Beach had the best eggs benedict I have had in a long time & very reasonably priced. We had dinner at the Beach house and lunch at the Sandbar; both wonderful and ALL 3 are right on the beach...toes in the sand! If you are a shopper, there are several options that are just a short drive from this location. We spent one day browsing St Armands Circle; about a 25 minute drive with many shops and restaurants to enjoy. We had a wonderful stay and are already trying to put another trip together before the end of the year. I am a Gulf coast girl (Destin FL) transplanted to the East coast of FL for the past 17 years. I feel like Anna Maria Island is a secret that has been kept from me! Who knew there were beaches "almost" as white as Destin a mere 2 hours from home?! I would recommend this property to friends & family for a lovely, relaxing getaway. Thanks again to Alice and Gladys for their wonderful hospitality!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I discovered this serene spot 6 years ago and come back as often as our schedule allows. There are many places on the Island to choose from but we found our little piece of "heaven" with Alice and her Family at The Bamboo Apartments. We love that we feel like family when we visit. Our apartment is always clean and cozy, and we love to watch the sunset from our private beach front patio. We enjoy walking to explore near by shops and restaurants and Alice has given us some great places to explore for local flavor. We went to The Star Fish Company just off Cortez Road for some fresh Grouper one afternoon. It was fantastic to sit on the docks, watch the fishing boats come in and eat really fresh seafood. I recommend this to all who visit the Island. We will definately be back to our island paradise...I hope you enjoy it as much as my husband and I do. :-)Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Like Florida used to be before it was carpeted with condos! We love going to the Bamboo Apartments - owner is very accommodating and welcoming. Clean and tidy - lots of shade under Australian pines - right on the beach. Reasonably priced. We always make a stop at the surf shop down the street. I am a Florida native and Anna Maria is our favorite beach community. Beautiful beaches for sunning and swimming, great places to eat, very casual atmosphere. You can ride bikes everywhere or take the trolley. No pool, if that matters.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car.

Where do I begin? We LOVE Bamboo. LOVE it! In fact, we love it so much that last November we invited our closest friends and family to join us there so that they could also experience the beauty and charm of the property. I have been visiting Anna Maria Island for 30 years and feel so grateful to have found Bamboo. The staff is like family. They are kind and caring from start to finish. The location is absolutely perfect. It is close to everything; yet, it is incredibly private. The units are quaint. The sunsets are gorgeous. It truly a magical property that the family has infused with great love and care. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid back wonderful vacation .. and, I'd prefer that you visit when I am not there so that the unit is available for me! he he heRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

About the owner: Hi! Our family has owned this property since 1971. My grandparents built it as their retirement home, and now it belongs to us. My mom, Gladys, is on the left in this photo, and that's me, Alice, on the right. I live up in Tampa, and visit the beach every weekend with my husband and our three sons. Mom lives on the Island part-time in the other side of the duplex.
Why the Owner Chose Holmes Beach:
Our family has always loved the Island, especially this spot, since my grandparents had friends from Tampa who lived close by. The apartment has a beautiful view of the beach across a garden and wildflower meadow. Our gulf-front patio has towering Australian pine trees, so you can sit in the shade on hot days, and feel a glorious breeze. The patio adjacent to the apartment is perfect for sunbathing even in the winter, because it's shielded from the wind. The Island has an old-fashioned small town vibe, so you can leave your cares behind.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Our apartment is part of our five-unit family-owned complex, all one story duplexes. Our guests tell us they love the ease of walking out the door right onto a patio to read the paper, grill out, or just relax, without the hassle of stairs and long walks often found in condominiums. Families especially appreciate it, since the beach is just across the meadow it's easy to take the little ones to the water's edge, without a long walk toting "beach stuff." This year, we had a family of green herons nest in one of the pine trees, and everyone enjoyed waiting for the eggs to hatch. We also had a turtle's nest right on the beach in front of our place!
