  • Inviting, Spotless and Beautifully Decorated

"We were so happy to have discovered this beautiful gem in the CT countryside! The home is lovely -- both inside and out. If fact, the listing photos do not really do it justice. This is a gorgeous old house, lovingly restored and decorated with obvious care and talent. It is also a very comfortable house. From the moment you enter the mud room (the most gorgeous mud room I've ever seen) till you sink into the sumptuous down-filled pillows on the family room sofa, you will feel totally pampered. The bathrooms and bedrooms include quality linens and towels, and the kitchen is well-equipped and spacious enough for several cooks. And the dining room... well, the dining room is simply breathtaking! Homeowner Sheila took the time to greet us on our arrival and show us the entire house, answering all of our questions and providing tips about where to eat out and what to see. My husband and I loved hiking down the surrounding country roads and at nearby Bee Brook, and exploring beautiful Litchfield. We visited White Flower Farms, The Glebe, and the Bellamy-Ferriday House. We wandered the shore of Lake Waramaug at dusk -- a beautiful sight indeed. And we may have over-indulged on the ice cream at Arethusa Farm and Dairy. :) If you love the comfort and beauty, antiques and the outdoors, gardens and historic architecture, this is definitely the place for you!"

  • Super cozy and super convenient

"The cottage is exceptionally comfortable in a very comfortable area. It's a good place to go on walks because the beach is not far away. The facilities are very neat and well-kept. There is a treacherous step as you enter the front door, but it is only treacherous if you do not follow the well-placed instructions to watch your step. Car access works best for getting back toward New Haven. Also, there are a good selection of grocery stores just outside the comfortable walking distance for many people. This cottage would work very well for people who have relatives or friends nearby who do have enough living space to fit in the guests. It is a great place."

  • Good things come in small packages

"This little 2 bedroom/1 bath cottage is in a perfect location if you are looking to relax and enjoy a gorgeous view of the lake. Though there are cottages and homes all around this lake we felt like we were almost the only ones there. The grandchildren enjoyed the kayaks and swimming every day. We enjoyed the huge and fully "furnished" deck, reading, playing games and just vegging out. Though the place is small it has everything you need. We only had to bring our clothes and some groceries. A new washer/dryer were being installed the day we left so that will make things even better!"

  • Great family summer beach rental

"Very large, beautifully decorated and livable house with fabulous private yard and 2 block walk to Compo Beach. We stayed here for a week as our summer vacation out of NYC. There was enough space for both of our kids and our guests and their kids to all have their own rooms. Backyard was great for entertaining and playing with kids with grill, hammock, large trampoline... Awesome upstairs playroom filled with toys. Owner very friendly and accomodating, left details instructions and tips for things to do in the area."
