  • Great place!!

"After realizing that another home owner lied in their posting about their house, we backed out of the agreement and had to search for another place to stay. I found this place and immediately reached out to the owners. I got an immediate response which relieved my worries. In fact, the owners responded immediately to every phone call, text and email that I made. Talk about great customer service! This place was awesome. It was equipped with EVERYTHING we needed. We thought we would need to go to the store for the basics but we did not. We just went for food. The store was only blocks away. The wi-fi was great since we were all connected to our cell phones and computers. A lot of places don't offer wi-fi so this was a very welcomed added bonus. The trolley stop was at the end of the block which was another bonus for us. It only cost 50 cents! The garage was full with everything needed for the beach. We even found bikes in the garage which were used one day. The screened in lanai was great-we never rent a place without one. I have nothing negative to say! This place was great!"

  • Lover's Key Resort

"Condo was very comfortable, great location, well maintained. Would have preferred direct access to the beach. Service by Distinctive Vacations was not as friendly as expected."

  • A Tropical Oasis

"We recently (March 2014) spent a wonderful week at the Desert Rose. What a jewel! The layout of the house is fantastic, especially if you plan on visitors! Our college-age boys were both on Spring Break, and it was the ideal location and landing spot for them and their friends. My husband and I had lots of privacy in the Master on the 3rd floor, and were never bothered by noise and activity in the rest of the home. The pool was wonderful, I floated around in it like a manatee for hours! The artwork is great, and the entire vibe of the home was very cool and very Key West. Truly an oasis and fabulous retreat. Thanks, Skip! We'll be back! (P.S. Our dog, Buddy, was welcome and loved it too.)"

Fort Myers Beach Travel Tips

More than 6,200 people call Fort Myers Beach home. This town located on Estero Island wasn't officially incorporated until December 1995, making it a newer Floridian hotspot. Although Fort Myers Beach may be small, more than 1.8 million visitors flock there every year to enjoy the beaches, fishing, shopping, dining, golf and entertainment along the Gulf.

There's no undertow in Fort Myers Beach, making it the "World's Safest Beach" and perfect for families who want to get their toes wet. The entire island is 7 miles long, a nice walk or jog for those who want to work in a little exercise on their trip.

The area that was once home to Native Americans and Spaniards is a favorite among tourists who dine on "pink gold" shrimp and celebrate the fishing industry with the week-long Shrimp Festival held in March.

Fort Myers Beach Attractions

There's a lot to do on the tiny island of Estero including water sports, beach activities and outdoor and indoor attractions. There are 25 public beach accesses on the Gulf side of Estero Island that are marked for easy spotting.

You can stop by one of several playgrounds and parks in Fort Myers Beach. Head to Lynn Hall Memorial Park, where you can fish off of a 600-foot pier. Sports lovers can venture over to Bay Oaks Recreation Center for basketball, tennis and volleyball courts.

There are 17 acres of fun on the northern tip of Estero Island at Bowditch Point Regional Park. For more protected wildlife areas, check out the Matanzas Pass Wildlife Preserve with a restored cottage, 42 acres of wilderness and a sanctuary for native plants and animals. Seven acres are developed for a park and the rest remains part of a preservation. There are boardwalks that allow visitors to Estero Back Bay access to observe ospreys and pelicans as they fish for food. Kayaks and canoes are available at Oyster Bay and Lovers Key Barrier Island.
