Perfect Place to Stay in Bar Harbor... especially if you have a little one!
"I'm still here and was just very eager to write a stellar review. We couldn't be happier staying here!
We had never been to Bar Harbor before, so we were "blindly" looking for accommodations. When booking at first, I was concerned that the apartment is a few miles out of town, but I AM SO GLAD WE ARE NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN! The apartment is quiet with ocean breezes and lots of sun-- none of which I think you would get amidst the business of town. Town is only a quick 5 minute drive and there is plenty of parking. Very convenient.
The apartment is also a stone's throw from the Acadia entrance, which turned to be perfect when traveling with our 2-year old. We can enjoy part of the park in the morning, conveniently head home for nap time, then head back. If you plan to visit the park (and it will take you DAYS to enjoy all parts), this is the perfect location. There is also Hull's Cove, a little beach, and restaurant about a block away.
As far as the apartment-- it is absolutely lovely! It is so clean and well-maintained that I feel like we are the first family to stay in it. Very comfortable. Every detail is gorgeous and meticulous (including fresh flowers upon arrival! And sand toys and coolers for trips to the beach!) Monique and Joe are kind and attentive. They even have a lovely outdoor patio for tenants with a fireplace stocked with wood and gas and charcoal grills. Perfect place for wine in the evening after putting the little one to bed! We are also very appreciative that they have a Pack and Play. That means we all get a good night's sleep!
We highly highly recommend staying here!"

"This apartment was absolutely perfect for our needs! We have a toddler and an infant, so the highchair, pack and play, and toys were wonderful. And the location couldn't be better, right downtown with everything within easy walking distance. The owners were very friendly, but also respected our need for privacy. The only challenge was parking, but having a handicap tag (for grandpa who traveled with us) made it much easier. I would certainly want to stay there again!"

"If you want a place where you can get directly into the mountains, this is it! From this house we hiked up the South Ridge of Cadillac Mountain, to the North Ridge - all the way on trails into Bar Harbor. We also did a nice hike that started at Sand Beach, up the Bee hive, over Gorham Mountain, to the Otter Cliffs and through a surprise shortcut path right back to our house. You can't beat this location. Not only can you get out quickly for short or long hikes, you can also hop on or off the Island Explorer Bus that stops right outside the house.
The house itself was great, too. We stayed with my parents, adult brother and our young son. Everyone had their own spacious bedroom (the photos don't quite convey how large the rooms are). The kitchen was well stocked (though the pots could use some updating and deep cleaning) and the appliances all were in good working condition. The house had lots of travel guides, maps and tourist information - so we didn't need to look anything up. The living room couches were a bit tired and saggy, but there were other adequate seating options, too. The beds were comfy and we even got a change of sheets (which was nice because we needed the flannel early in the week and the cotton sheets when it got a little warmer).
I don't view this to be negative, but some may - there was no cell phone reception. However, they have a phone there for local calls and emergencies. Honestly, I loved not being able to stay connected while I was on vacation, so it didn't bother me. The internet wi-fi was fast and reliable, so if you must...you can.
It was great to have a rental with nice towels, linens, toilet paper and basic soap supplies too. I thought the towel allotment was more than adequate, especially with the washer and dryer available.
Thanks - if we're going to Acadia next year, we'll definitely book again!"

"We had an AMAZING week here.
Our large and multi-generational family of seven stayed at this house in July. We had a fantastic visit and we plan to come back next year. We hiked several mountains, ate in nearby restaurants, swam in a nearby pond, and walked to the water and rocks from the house.
Everyday had a new and fun activity.
The spaciousness of the 3-level house was perfect for the three generations of our family. People could work, rest, or watch TV downstairs and not hear any noise from the activities of the other family members. The several large bedrooms also let us spread out and have privacy when needed.
The entire house is beautiful, with light wood and while walls. The property is expansive, with a garden, yard, and path to the water. My 3 year old picked blueberries from the many bushes planted there. Paths through the Blagden Preserve provided an easy walk to the water, and our child loved looking for shellfish at the beach during low tide. Next time we will bring binoculars so that we can see the seals on the rocks at the Preserve.
We enjoyed hiking, playing golf at the nearby public courses, and watching the boats come into the harbor. We didn't have time to kayak or ride bikes, but hope to on our next visit. The roads around the house have few cars, and would be ideal for biking, and the Acadia Carriage roads are also nearby. We want to take the kayak out next time, as you can launch it just down the street from the house.
We HIGHLY recommend this house. The house itself and its surroundings are wonderful. There are many great dining opportunities on the island, in nearby town hill, bar harbor, and southwest. But every night, we rushed home to watch an amazing sunset over the water."
