Wonderful Home Base
"The Hummingbird Suite was perfectly located to explore all areas of the island. It is extremely close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and within a short, beautiful drive to other island destinations.
Donna was easy and wonderful to work with. The place was spotless, comfortable, relaxing and had a serene setting out the back window. It was great to crack the windows and hear the frogs at night and chickens during the day. The gas fireplace kept me warm on colder nights. Overall, this suite was perfect and had everything I needed (from a comfortable bed to a fully stocked kitchen and a comfortable place to relax after exploring)."

"This was our family's first visit to Maine and Acadia. Renting this house was the best plan we made for the trip. The quiet serenity, the wildlife, and the scenery were all amazing. The house is rustic like a cabin and well equipped like a family home. We spent our mornings watching harbor seals and identifying birds including bald eagles, osprey, loons, cormorants, various woodpeckers (including a pileated pair), kingfishers, and forest songbirds. An eagle landed in a tree right off the deck when were were eating our first breakfast. We were visited by deer and red squirrels. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return. Tern II is an enchanting place to spend a week or more. Definitely bring binoculars, even if you are not an active birder. Also: The restaurants in the small towns around the island are outstanding. Red Sky and Sips in Southwest Harbour are excellent, just to name two."

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay with Suze and Tod, and would definitely stay with them again if we are in the area. The space was exactly as advertised, and we really appreciated that it was clean and bright. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and appliances, which was great, since we prefer to stay in rather than eat out. Suze and Tod knew just what we wanted in terms of interaction - they were there if we needed them, but they gave us the space we needed to relax on our vacation.
There was one especially wonderful feature to our stay which is Tod and his garden of fresh vegetables! My wife is a vegetarian, and I do not eat much meat. When we arrived Suze gave us a list of what Tod had in the garden and asked us to let them know what we wanted. We chose the lettuce, mixed greens, arugula, chives, mustard greens and tarragon. Tod had meticulously cleaned them and put them by our door. They were wonderful, and we continued to enjoy them and think about Suze and Tod as we continued our trip to other locations, enjoying a wonderful salad here, or a yummy sandwich with fresh greens along the side of the road.
One other thing we appreciated is that they had taken the time to label things and leave directions about how to take care of their property. As guests, we want to take care of their place, and it is much easier when you know what to do.
We highly recommend both Arcadia Meadow and Suze and Tod."

"We came to Maine to raise a barn. This cottage was perfect for us. It was clean, cozy, and friendly. We had everything that we could possibly need. I did some cooking for our crew, and had everything that I needed. The owners were very responsive, helpful, and generous. The location was just a few miles from where we were working, and close to everything else that we needed. We had a very pleasant stay.
The only reason to hesitate in giving a great review, is that others will love the place as much as we did: Then it would not be available the next time we want to stay. The pictures do not depict the true feel of this lovely home.
Thank you Audrey and Ken from us, and all of our team of timberframers.
