Perfect Location and A-MAZ-ING Backyard for Kids
The location couldn't be more perfect to access all that MDI has to offer. It made it possible to start the day later or even come back for a break in the afternoon between activities. It was close to everything, but back enough in the woods that you really felt like you were away from it all. The backyard is incredible if you have children. Our daughters loved the different swings, sandbox, and places to climb. The pictures don't do it justice. Rose and Steve are kind and welcoming. They are there to offer any help you may need, but they are not intrusive. The place is super clean, with comfortable beds and an upgraded bathroom. It's just enough space for what you may need. They do only have a loveseat, so we brought those small couch/chairs for our two girls (3 and 5), so that we could all have space to relax. We wouldn't hesitate to book and stay again.
Wonderful! Better than the pictures!
We had a wonderful stay in the cabin from 8/18/18 to 8/25/18. It was wonderfully cleaned and in great shape. Plenty was provided by the owners and they were easily accessible if we had questions. The location was great for exploring MDI and all it had to offer. This was great for the kids (10, 9, and 4) as the back yard not only had a jungle gym playset but a swing, a large sand box, tons of room to run around and some other play houses. We were able to enjoy several dinners on the back porch and finish up with a nice fire at the fire pit which had wood provided. We would stay here again and again in a heartbeat.
Peaceful family escape close to everything!
Our family stayed at this cozy cabin for a week as we explored Acadia! It is tucked away in the woods on a quiet road, making it perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat; however since it is centrally located on the island, you can get to Bar Harbor and most destinations around Acadia in 20 minutes or less! The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and our toddler absolutely LOVED the fun play area in the backyard! Steve and Rose were such attentive hosts and while we only crossed paths a couple of times, they were so friendly and made sure we felt right at home. Thank you for providing the perfect home base for our first adventure in Acadia - hopefully it will not be our last!
It was a pleasure to have you stay at our little cabin, Lauren. So glad you took advantage of all that Acadia has to offer. Thanks for being great guests!
Beautiful getaway in Maine!
The cottage was such a lovely getaway for us! We loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed the fire pit after a long day of hiking to help us relax. Steve and Rose were real Super friendly and helpful with ideas for exploring the area! Maine was packed with super cool adventures! If you love hiking we recommend the beehive, beech cliff, ladder trail and great cliff trails. They were our favorite trails. Cheap lobster dinners we found at Eden Rose lobster shack in Bar Harbor, We loved this cottage, and look forward to returning real soon!!
Thanks Steve and Rose
I write this while sitting by a campfire at the Cozy Country Cabin. This is the perfect vacation rental for a small family. It is centrally located to so many things. Minutes from Acadia National Park, fresh and salt water beaches, downtown Bsr Harbor and so much more. The cottage is located on a wooded property that gives you the feeling of being in a remote forest area. It is so quiet and peaceful. The cottage is just as the pictures show, and Steve and Rose couldn't be nicer. This has been a perfectly perfect vacation!
We chose this place to stay with another couple and it was perfect for our week on Mt. Desert Island. It was just as pictured. To be honest though, we didn't spend a lot of time here because the Acadia is just too beautiful to sit at home. There were plenty of good places for kayaking: Echo Lake, Somes Pond & Seal Cove to name a few, and the hiking in the park is breathtaking (literally). Steve and Rose were great hosts and answered a lot of questions for us on the first day. When we were at the cabin we cooked a few good meals out on the deck from the seafood we caught and what bought right up the road from "Rat's". If you have young kids - the place would be great just because of the playground.
Swimming, kayaking, sailing and boating, at nearby pristine lakes, ponds, and ocean. Anything from the very popular whale watching tours to Diver Ed's Dive-In Theater. There's also deep sea fishing to coastline nature tours, sunset sailing trips, or canoeing or kayaking out to a little island for a picnic lunch. Acadia National Park here on Mt. Desert Island boasts some of the best hiking trails in the North East. With 120 miles of trails the diversity of experiences is endless. From biking the well maintained Carriage Roads, to hiking challenging mountain ascents, including ocean side peaks to gentle walks alongside quiet lakes, it's all wholesome and healthy for all ages. On any given day one can partake of Craft fairs, Art festivals or Music concerts nearby. if you prefer to create art try out ArtWaves studio on Lower Main St. in Bar Harbor. A rainy day can sometimes be a welcome treat and opportunity to visit one of the many museums on the Island. Or a Yoga Session at Cattitude in Bar Harbor. World-class birding and naturalist tours by Downeast Nature Tours, and phenomenal rock climbing opportunities with Atlantic Climbing School or Acadia Mountain Guides Climbing School are not to be missed! Swimming, canoeing, biking, kayaking, sailing/ boating, museums, and hiking.
