About John McWilliam
My wife and I have lived and travelled all over the world. We have collected art and furniture from the many places we have lived (Kenya, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, India). The house reflects our travels and our interests.
John McWilliam purchased this House in 2005
Why John McWilliam chose Falmouth
The Nantucket colonial style of the house was perfect for our furniture and art. We wanted to be by the water, and we are an estuary with wonderful views of nature -- birds, animals. We can walk to the ocean to swim. The property is so treed that we have complete privacy. It is what Cape Cod is suppose to be.
What makes this House unique
The bird life of the property is phenomenal. Last summer three osprey decided to use one of the limps of a tree on the estuary in the back of the house for their perch to catch fish. We could watch them hunt and then come back to the perch to feast.

We just got back from spending the week at this home. The home is very spacious, clean and gorgeous. The grounds surrounding the home are fantastic. Their back yard over looks the "lazy river" that connects to old silver beach. The walk to old silver is just ten quick minutes. There were many amazing little nooks and crannies in the yard. The outdoor shower was my favorite.....the only suggestion that I have for future renters is that I would be cautious if you have overactive toddlers as this home is their actual year round home and they have many lovely things that are at risk. Overall I would not hesitate to rent from this lovely couple again.
Thank you for this review. We are so happy you had a good time. I take pride in my "woodland garden" which is so different from the suburban onclave that most people have experience with. My wife and I lived in Africa for many years and we see the outdoors as a place to explore. Come again and there will be more nooks and grannies to discover.
Absolutely wonderful home!
I would highly recommend this place, it was gorgeous and very well equipped. We really enjoyed all of the different outside spaces and the spaciousness inside. The art on the walls is beautiful and inspiring. The beds are super comfy and the beach is really a short walk away. We also loved the ponds in the area. Thank you.
4th of July vacation
We spent a week in this gorgeous North West Falmouth house by the ocean and we truly enjoyed the house and Old Silver beach which was 10 mins walk away. The house has everything you may need, kitchen pans, glasses, plates, coffee maker, even spices and electric water heater. The Indian and African art work and furniture are exquisite and one of a kind. The TV and entertainment center come in handy on rainy days, and the fireplace is very romantic. It is the first time we feel like at home in a rented vacation house. You only need beach towels and sheets, otherwise everything you may need can be found in this house. It is obvious the owners love the home and take good care of it. Thanks for renting to us, we will be back next summer!
The house is adjacent to a large conservation area with trails for walking. The area has a herring run in the stream. It is connected to two kettle ponds. It is a bird sanctuary and has equestrian trails. You can walk to the bike path going to Wood's Hole and to historic Bourne Farm through the conservation area. Events for children take place at the Farm.
