About Robin Bumgarner

Our oldest daughter went to ASU and we fell in love with Boone. We purchased the property and have been enjoying it with our children and grandchildren ever since. Unfortunately, we cannot make it to the house as much as we would like to, so we have decided to share it with others who have fell in love with Boone.

Robin Bumgarner purchased this house in 2008

Why Robin Bumgarner chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Great house with a wonderful view. Perfect for a couple or a small family. The drive up the mountain is fun, and my van struggled the whole way up, but we made it. Would stay at again.

great cabin on top of mountain with long range gorgeous views

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our mid- week getaway in this cozy mountaintop cabin. The location was right in downtown Boone, but high up on the mountain, it seemed like you were in a national park. Robin has the cabin very clean and set up nice with everything you need to enjoy a visit to the mountains of NC. With plenty of room for at least 4 people the amenities were just right. We really had fun, did a lot of hiking, and some visits to Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, West Jefferson and Blue Ridge Parkway were all a great time. We plan to be a return visitor soon. Wonderful view, great location, and a very nice house at a reasonable rate.

  • 5 of 5

This house is as described - that is, a great view from the deck and with woods on both sides and below - felt very private - no houses visible on either side or below (in the summer), but close to Boone. Just a short drive (about 200 yards) on a gravel/dirt road from the closest paved road. The house was well equipped and the owner was very accommodating. We appreciate that the owner does not add all of the extra fees/charges that many owners do. The only negative was the strong detergent/perfume smell on the sheets, pillows, and towels. We suggested that the owner change to unscented laundry detergent.

Fantastic Cabin with Great Views!

  • 5 of 5

My best friend and I went to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, we decided to rent a cabin and get more bang for our money. The view off the balcony was AMAZING! Robin the owner sends you an email with lots of helpful hints on stores, restaurants and attractions. It's a bit of a steep uphill drive to get to the cabin, coming from Florida I was a little concerned but by the second day I was driving like a pro! Cabin was very nice with everything you could possibly need.

Great location, amazing view. This cabin was the perfect spot for a quick getaway before baby No. 3 arrives. Everything we needed, quick access to Boone. Just splendid!

Gorgeous view but needs some attention

  • 3 of 5

Don't let the overgrown garden and empty flower boxes put you off -- inside all is clean and cozy, with a well-equipped kitchen and a huge deck with a stunning mountain view. The owners provided lots of great information on where to eat, shop and hike. It's a secure and quiet location, convenient to all area activities. One problem: the bathroom towels all had a strong mildew odor, but we washed all of them (2 loads) and then they were fine. Tips: watch out for a protruding nailhead just where you step out onto the deck, and a slippery rug at the door. Bring your own bed pillow - the ones provided are either flat or very lumpy. Bring shampoo - the sample sizes in the bathroom are all conditioner or lotion. Watch out for chipped glassware/cups. If you have little ones along, be aware that the doorframe in the front bedroom is broken and has sharp exposed wood, so be careful.
