A short walk to the famous Kahaluu Beach Park known for the best snorkeling, surfing, and swimming on the Big Island! Both bedrooms have TV's. The master and living room are WiFi enabled TV's for streaming movies, watching Netflix, HULU or cable channels. The Master bedroom has a California King bed, WiFi enabled TV, dresser, AC unit, private ensuite bathroom and access to the lanai. The 2nd bedroom has a queen-sized bed, TV, dressers and an AC unit. A comfy sofa, chair with ottomans, large WiFi enabled TV and a dining table for 6 provide ample room to relax after a long day of exploring. Kitchen is equipped with all the amenities including small appliances and washer, dryer and dishwasher. There are various beach items others have left behind down in the clubhouse for your use.
The condo is in a very small complex with a mix of full-time residents and short-term vacationers. Therefore, guests must respect quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. If you are the late night, noisy, partying type, this is not the place for you. The entire complex, lanais and units are all no smoking. ($100 fines will be assessed for violators of each and every occurrence.) Come, unwind and enjoy true aloha!
GUEST ACCESS
We have an electronic keypad door lock that allows for late night check-in and added security. Enjoy the on-site swimming pool, BBQ area, hot tub and rec room.

We are very familiar with the Big Island and are happy to share information on great places to eat, best beaches and day trips to take around the island. Just ask! The condo is accessed by lock box code to accommodate travelers any time of the day. Most flights arrive late at night from the west coast. We do not greet guests upon arrival. We respect your privacy and leave you alone but are quick to respond to any questions, concerns, or incidents that arise.
NEIGHBORHOOD
The condo is in an ideal location: minutes to the beach, Kailua-Kona and shopping without the traffic or noise in town. This location is quiet, quaint, a 2 minute walk to the best snorkel beach and still close enough to Kona and Captain Cook that makes it a great location for vacationing! Kahaluu Beach Park is the best swim and snorkel beach on the Big Island with beautiful reefs. A great beach with gentle waves, shallow areas, picnic spots, lifeguard, restrooms and food. You may hear someone playing the ukulele across the street or see kids walking to the beach. The Kahaluu neighborhood is a mix of vacationers and locals alike enjoying the beautiful island. Just south, it's a convenient 2 minute drive to the Keauhou Shopping Center. Here you have your choice of Japanese, Italian, Thai, Mexican or Hawaiian Restaurants. Shopping, Cafe, Pharmacy, Grocery Stores and a movie theater!
GETTING AROUND
Catch the Kona Trolley just down at the corner of Makolea St and Ali'i Drive to ride all around Kailua-Kona for a $2 transfer fee. Runs all along Ali'i Drive. Stops here at: 10:45am, 1pm, 3:10pm, 5:20pm, 7:20pm and 9:05pm. Runs from 9am-9:15pm. A fun way to see the town! There are taxi and uber options but the best way to see the island is to rent a vehicle.

Kailua Kona Rentals purchased this condo in 2017
We wanted a property close to the beach, Kailua-Kona and shopping without the traffic or noise in town. This location is quiet, quaint, a 2 minute walk to the best snorkel beach and still close enough to Kona and Captain Cook that makes it the ideal location for vacationing!
We love the relaxing feeling on the lanai. Enjoy your morning with fresh local fruit and Kona coffee surrounded by palm trees and fragrant plumeria trees. Occasionally a gecko or two will come and keep you company. The unit faces east so you don't get lots of direct sun so it stays cooler than other units. The lanai also overlooks the pool.
This condo is very functional and convenient for a family of 4.
The Kahaluu beach right outside the condo, is excellent for beginner and intermediate snorkeling. Loved the condo and the location, close to beach, stores, restaurants and shopping. The refrigerator was broken during our trip, but the owner let us know about it ahead of time and offered a credit for our inconvenience, Appreciate that :)
The complex was very quiet. Small pool but adequate. It was close to great snorkeling beach. Unit was nice and clean. Very well stock with supplies. Key to unit was a gift basket with fruits and candy when arrived. It had 2 sets of snorkeling equipment but needs other things. Club house for all did not have much beach equipment to be used. We still would return to this unit because it was very relaxing.
We, 2 senior couples, just spent an enjoyable 2 weeks at The Makolea, Kona. The location is absolutely perfect…1 block walk to the best snorkeling beach and sunset watching on the Big Island. The apartment was more than adequate, very clean, comfortable beds, very affordable, good barbeque and the pool and hot tub were welcoming after a day of sightseeing. Michelle was very helpful. This is a quiet building as the condo has many long time returnees year after year. Would return here for our next trip!
We (my husband and adult son) truly enjoyed our stay here. The location is absolutely perfect - a half block from the best snorkeling beach, very quiet building and neighborhood, parking, and easy access to other destinations. We loved quiet mornings on the deck, which can be accessed from the living room or the master bedroom. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, clean and everything for guests was well-planned. We had access to some snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach towels, etc. Recommend whole-heartedly.
