Exquisite one bedroom view apartment
First year offered as a vacation rental!
Picture yourself in paradise, a spacious elevator-accessible top floor 1 bedroom 2 bath condo with expansive living/dining area. Step out onto a double-wide tiled lanai with beautiful ocean & mountain views. We are in the most quiet & private building in the back of the White Sands Village complex, right across from Magic Sands Beach, the only white sand swimming beach in Kona. You are far from traffic noise and next to a natural preserve. Wake to the sounds of parrots and other wild birds.
Begin and end a day of frolicking in the ocean waves right across the street. Or take advantage of the newly renovated heated salt water swimming pool, spa, tennis courts, sauna, game room with pool table, and use one of the 4 gas BBQ grills. Or simply enjoy the colorful, beautifully manicured White Sands Village foliage and swaying palm trees.
At day's end, watch a spectacular sunset from your lanai as the sea breezes cool you off and warm your heart. Wonderful breezes sweep through the rooms most of the year with both front and rear screen doors for ventilation, a multitude of floor and ceiling fans available to contribute to the flow.
Our condo was originally a thousand square foot two bedroom apartment. It was converted to one bedroom in order to double the living room / dining room space. It will feel large compared to many other units.
You'll have no stairs to negotiate - your covered parking space is right by the elevator which lets you off right near your front door.
The condo is newly renovated with mango wood cabinets and hardwood floors in every room. Picture yourself in a well-organized kitchen complete with updated double-wide refrigerator, dishwasher, electric stove/oven and microwave, and toaster, blender, coffee maker and other appliances. The dining room table seats eight, next to a cabinet storing Palm Tree dishes and glassware, or, if you prefer, simple white stoneware is available in a kitchen cabinet.
The bedroom with a very comfortable queen bed has been recently updated. The two bathrooms give you a choice of a beautiful tiled shower with bench or a tub/shower combination with glass backsplash.
Comfortable recliners look out to the lanai which has its own dining table with four chairs. A new queen size sofa bed completes a cozy combo facing the 48" Sony flatscreen TV for kicking back and enjoying cable entertainment nestled in with lots of art on the walls and lanai.
All new linens, towels, and bedding, beach chairs, sand mats and ice chests are available for your enjoyment. A stacked washer/dryer awaits. There is lots of closet space filled with everything you might need including an iron!
Our local caretaker, Chris, will meet you either during or shortly after your arrival for an orientation and to answer any questions in order to insure your stay is the absolute best it can be.
To prepare for your on-island pursuits, a local land line phone and travel binder and brochures are at your fingertips as well as a charging station including two USB ports for all of your electronics. The phone may be used to make calls to anywhere in the US or Canada at no charge.
Snorkeling among the hundreds of colorful exotic fish in the calm waters at Kahaluu Beach Park, only a mile south, is grand for both novices and the more experienced alike. Waves break just right at the north end of the park, making it a perfect location to learn how to surf under the guidance of local instructors.
Keauhou Shopping Center which hosts KTA Supermarket, Longs Drug, Regal Movie Theaters and many smaller shops and restaurants is only another mile south.
Kona Country Club's top notch golf courses are open to the public and are also only 2 miles away. Keauhou Bay, also in the same area is the launching point for many water based tours and activities on the Kona Coast. Downtown Kailua-Kona with its many attractions is only a little over three miles north. And you must visit Gypsea Gelato, which we believe has the best gelato outside of Europe, in the town of Kealakekua, a scenic 15 minute drive away.
One of the best things is how quiet it is. Most oceanfront accommodations along Alii Drive suffer from some traffic noise. We are far enough from the road so that we don't have any. And at White Sands Village, the lanais in the front two buildings face each other over the pool area. In our building in the back, we have the utmost in privacy and we are not looking into someone else's apartment. And, being on the top floor, we don't have to worry about hearing someone's footsteps over us!
You will need to sign a rental contract and agree to abide by the White Sands Village House Rules in order for your booking to be finalized. Contact us for a copy to review.
Hawaii Law requires that we post our Transient Accommodations Tax ID. Ours is TA-124-260-9664-01

About Bob Schlesinger
Bob is 65 and Jan is 69. Bob is a photographer and Jan is a mixed-media artist. We are both retired and just love Hawaii. The Big Island is our favorite. We have always been beach people - we particularly enjoy swimming and playing in the waves. Jan's father had a surfboard-making business in southern California so she grew up surfing. Kona reminds her of portions of the California coast as it was in the 1960s. We love our new condo and are pleased to be able to share it with others. We are quiet, friendly and always have the best interests of others at heart. As a host, we want to make sure you have an absolutely delightful visit, since we feel that way every time WE stay there!
Bob Schlesinger purchased this Condo in 2017
Why Bob Schlesinger chose Kahaluu-Keauhou
We truly believe this is the best place to be based on the whole island - that's why we bought here. Being able to walk out your door and stroll down to a sandy swimming beach, the only one of its kind in town, is pure joy. The central location and easy access to both swimming and snorkeling is a real plus. And yet we are only 3 miles from downtown Kona. White Sands Village has such great amenities - the recently renovated heated salt water pool and spa are excellent. The adjoining BBQ area can accommodate 4 families at once. The grounds are beautiful and having tennis courts on site is a real plus.
What makes this Condo unique
The hardwood floors, mango wood cabinetry, the extra large 200 square foot lanai with a tiled floor and it's own outdoor ceiling fan and simply wonderful view. A one bedroom apartment as large as two bedroom units gives us much more living area to enjoy. And the elevator right near our entry literally makes the access to 3rd floor living as easy as living on the ground floor.

Great vacation spot!!
Nice, quiet location. Located pretty close to many restaurants. Had everything we needed for our trip! We will definitely stay here the next time we’re in Kona!!
Wonderful Winter Escape
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at White Sands. The condo location on the third floor and angle of the unit afforded a quiet , spectacular view of the ocean from the lanai. The beach is within seconds walking distance. The unit has recently been beautifully upgraded and is perfectly appointed. Another plus is a Bikeshare station just outside of the resort . That allowed for ease in bike use for site seeing, rides into Kona town center and early morning workouts. Overall, a great experience!
We'll come back for sure!
Bob and Jan's lovely condo was even larger than we imagined. After an enjoyable day on Big Island, our favorite spot was on the large balcony watching the sunset every evening. The kitchen is well equipped, there are plenty of towels and a closet filled all we needed to enjoy a day a the beach. We had no need to use the AC as the tropical breezes kept us comfortably cool.
I recommend snorkeling enthusiasts consult the Snorkel Big Island guide book that is there.
Bob was prompt to respond to any of my questions. Their place is at the top of our list when we return to Big Island.
Bob and Jan, many thanks for sharing your island home with us.

Excellent Location - Clean, Comfortable with all the amenities needed
This property was excellent. It was centrally located close to the airport. There were fantastic beaches to the north, south and right across the road. Plenty of shopping and restaurants close by, as well. The apartment was clean and had everything that we needed for a very comfortable stay.
Great condo and location!! Would stay there again.
We loved the condo and the location of the condo except for the Ironman competition going on. It was very crowded but understandably. Stayed 5 days. Condo was very clean and had everything you needed for a wonderful stay. At first I was disappointed in being in the back building but it was actually better. Much more private and away from pool. Everything went with out a hitch. Thank you we look forward to returning to the big island again.
White Sands Village gem!
We loved our stay at White Sands Village. The third-floor unit gave us a better view of the ocean from the lanai. And with the nearby elevator, stairs were not an issue. Air conditioning was a necessary plus on some days, since September is the hottest month in Kona. Just about everything you can imagine needing was part of the package, from kitchen appliances and a stocked spice cabinet to a couple days worth of Kona coffee. We walked across the street to the beach and strolled to a nearby park to enjoy sunsets almost every day. It was close to our favorite snorkeling spot. The owner let us know about scheduled maintenance and projects underway in the complex, so we were not surprised or inconvenienced. We've vacationed in Kona many times and would rank this as our favorite. The only downside was occasional TV noise from a nearby unit when using the lanai or having other doors open to let the breezes flow through. If we had any questions, our contact was immediately available by phone and very gracious. We hope to return soon. Mahalo!
