Great location and everything you needed for a weekend of hiking and seeing waterfalls!

  • 5 of 5

The chalet is perfectly located just south of Brevard and a short ride to Gorges, Pisgah, and DuPont to see the amazing waterfalls in Transylvania County. Gary has plenty of firewood and everything else you need to cook, refresh, and enjoy the Mountain View. We had plenty of room for our family of 7.

What a view!

  • 4 of 5

The property was very comfortable. The fireplace is a nice center piece to the place and we kept it going most of the day. We were down there to cycle and the living space was perfect to come back to and relax after a long day on the road. Gary was very responsive to our needs and questions. The area is having some issues with dogs that are running around but this was looked after. Being 15 minutes from Brevard is very handy and we went into town several times for dinner.

Great Location and view

  • 4 of 5

Older property with an unusual layout. The fireplace was great but the location in the middle of the room makes seating in living room very limited. Then there is the open staircase with no handrail is in the middle of the room; anyone could accidentally fall down them. Updated kitchen with good supplies. Plenty of good dry firewood to enjoy the fireplace. Property is beautiful, nice yard, has view of sunsets, outdoor fire pit and good TV options. The downstairs bedroom is open to the upstairs so there is no privacy in that bedroom and there are no doors on the very spacious bathroom. There is no privacy for using the toilet or showering. Since the staircase is open to the downstairs that means anyone in the downstairs bathroom gives a free show to everyone else in the house.

Owner's Response: The upstairs floor is, and can be used as a handrail. I am 73 yrs. old and use the floor plan for a handrail all of the time. The down stairs bathroom does put somewhat of a limit on privacy, but to close it off, as has been done in the past, would put a cramp on the open air atmosphere. If you have suggestions as to remedy , or improve the situation without putting a cramped in feeling to the place, please let me know. As one descends the stairs ones hand would become elevated as one descends. I should have demonstrated this upon your arrival Thank you for the suggestions. I have had hand rails on the place before, and they would have collapsed if one fell on them, or tried to be supported by them. Plus it would have distracted from the staircase appearance .It is hard to get everything just right, but we still keep trying. Again thank you for the comments.
