About the property

Tiny house on Lookout mountain with all amenities, large deck, and river access!

Come enjoy a quiet, cozy, and relaxing weekend in a real tiny house! Our "Tiny Retreat" was built by Timbercraft Tiny Homes and was moved to Little River Escape in April 2017! Little River Escape is a private, gated community on the AL/GA line, only minutes from the quaint town of Mentone, AL. The authentic Tiny Retreat is nestled in a beautiful wooded area, on the banks of the East Fork of the Little River, high atop Lookout Mountain. It was thoughtfully designed and carefully built with high-end custom finishes and has been featured in several publications as one of the best tiny homes on the market - Tiny Living, New Atlas, Tiny House Talk, and Tiny House Swoon, to name a few.

This luxury tiny house includes all the extra upgrades and offers a spacious master bedroom, two sleeping lofts, full bath, living room, a wrap-around kitchen, with all the amenities and conveniences you need for a wonderful vacation! It's the perfect getaway for a small family or a few friends.

When you enter the French Doors, you'll be impressed by the beautiful stained hardwood flooring and ceiling throughout. The master bedroom is located up the staircase and boasts of high ceiling (no crawling required), a comfy queen size bed with storage drawers, flip-up desk, built-in wardrobe, and 28" HDTV. The bathroom, just down the stairs to the right, features a full-size bath tub with tile shower, elongated flushing toilet with soft close lid, leathered granite vanity top with copper sink, and built-in shelving. Inside the cozy living room you can take a seat on the full size Italian leather sofa and warm your feet by the electric fireplace. For your entertainment this room features a 40" HDTV, Blu-ray player, Apple TV, and DirecTV satellite receiver and DVR. The living room joins a wrap-around fully-stocked kitchen with stainless appliances, leathered granite countertops, and soft close cabinets, complete with all the "extras!"

Just a few steps up the ladder, you can access the upper level that features a queen sleeping loft with built-in bedside tables, and a unique crawl bridge with rails and rope lighting which leads to the twin sleeping loft (perfect for small children). Among the amenities is a smart home system with coded security lock, automated lights, and security cameras, as well as a "whole house" water filtration system for health conscious individuals.

When you exit the French Doors, you'll walk onto the 300 sq ft wrap-around deck, complete with large table and umbrella and 6 matching comfortable chairs. You can cook up your favorite meal on the gas grill, and then relax to the peaceful sounds of Little River. To burn off a few calories, step off the deck onto our private trail which joins the patio area. From there you can sit and see the flowing river down below. If you desire a little more adventure, you can continue walking the trail, as it joins the property's most serene river swimming hole! Or, take a pole and find a fishing spot. Bass, Blue Gill, and Trout are among the catch!

For even more recreation, take our kayak or get another kayak/canoe from the community clubhouse and pool area, where just a few steps lead you to additional river access and floating pier. You can also swim here or kayak down the stream underneath the bridge into beautiful Lake Lahusage. Adventurers like to jump off the big boulder rock into the lake. If water sports aren't your thing, you can sit out by the fire pit and roast marshmallows, or read a book while you rest in the hammock. Or, try your hand at the community ping-pong table. There's also two other entrances to the public community trail that winds through the property and along-side the river.

If the outdoor enthusiast would rather venture off the property, Little River Canyon, Desoto State Park, Desoto Falls, and Cloudmont Ski & Golf Resort are all within a 30 minute drive. Other area attractions include Miracle Pottery, Orbix Hot Glass, Tohi Spa and Massage, and Henagar Drive-In Theater. Of course, you could visit the fan club and museum of the renowned country group, Alabama, in their hometown of Fort Payne. Or you could stay inside the Tiny Retreat and watch the big game, or find a movie from the DirectTV line-up, or select one from the collection of over 50 DVD's (some of our personal favorites)! Before the end of your stay, be sure to try out one of the locally-owned and operated restaurants, such as Wildflower Cafe, Green Leaf Grill, Plowshares Bistro, all in Mentone or The Willow Tree Grill in Summerville. Also keep in mind that Chattanooga, TN is only one hour away, which opens up another world of attractions!

Must see! Must stay! Come enjoy the slow, relaxed pace of mountain life... You will not want to leave! Experience big living in the Tiny Retreat! An unforgettable vacation awaits!!

About Chris & Kerry Revell

We have been married for over 20 years. We reside in Millbrook, AL. Kerry was diagnosed with brain cancer just as we were embarking on our Tiny House adventure. It has been a rainbow in the midst of our storm!

Chris & Kerry Revell purchased this house in 2017

Why Chris & Kerry Revell chose Menlo

We originally planned to put our home in Guntersville, AL but due to city regulations, the plans for a Tiny House Community there were put on hold. It ended up being a blessing in disguise because the mountains have turned out to be just what we needed!

What makes this house unique

We've watched and been fascinated with the Tiny House shows on HGTV for the last few years. We never dreamed we would be blessed with one of our own and give ALL glory to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from whom all blessings flow!

An awesome retreat!!

  • 5 of 5

My stay in the Tiny Retreat was peaceful, enjoyable, and downright comfortable! The Revell's have equipped it with anything you could possibly need. After less than a day, I felt at home. It's no wonder that the tiny house movement has such a following. :)

And what a nice spot - before I left, I walked down their path and was mesmerized by the sounds of the Little River.

Great tiny house get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the Tiny Retreat for a quiet New Year’s weekend. Plenty of room for 3 and all our things. Kitchen had everything we needed. Nice dvd collection for the cold nights by the fireplace. We also enjoyed walking the paths by the river. It would be fun to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the beautiful pool and clubhouse!

Big Time at the Tiny Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tiny Retreat for a Valentine's Day weekend away and it could not have been more amazing! The Tiny Retreat was so nice and well done. It is perfectly clean and decorated so well that it felt like home. I am so thankful to the Revell's for allowing us to stay and we were already planning what we will do in the spring. This is an amazing place to get away!

Beautiful home and view!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this tiny home. The area is beautiful and the house was perfect. It was spacious and cozy. The fireplace was a welcome addition, as the temperatures were in the low 40s during the day. We would definitely stay again!

Snowy Surprise!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were planning a much needed weekend getaway, which turned into a beautiful (COLD) snowy, white prelude to Christmas. Although we did have some concern about making the trip under questionable conditions, it was so worth it! Tiny Retreat did not disappoint in any aspect. It is immaculate, everything you read in the description and more. If you've had any interest whatsoever in a "tiny house" this is definitely a well thought out design. We hope to visit again with our children when the weather is warmer, but enjoying the indoors was fine with me for this trip. I loved it and the owners well great to communicate with. Thank you for sharing your sweet escape with us.
